In this Episode I continue the Parker pipe project. from the previous episode. After topping the bowl and beveling the rim I try to match the existing stain. It turns out to be harder than I expected. It is a warts and all episode, showing all my fails.

Favorite technique is the bevel with the wood ball. Nice touch.

Very creative and color-matching looks like fun. I also like your beveling technique. Great job breathing new life into that pipe.

Hi ytpc. Today’s episode ran a little late. I had some bandwidth issues with the upload that slowed things down. Enjoy!

Smoking xGunx thanks, I am just trying stuff to see what works and mostly hoping not to mess it up too bad. I am glad you enjoy it.

Very nice and informative, Thank You Sir, as a side note I wouldn't start doing this with no ordinary pipe cuz those materials, colours and etcetera would cost more than the pipe itself,Best Greets.P

Paul The Scandinavian that is an interesting point. I have all the materials because I use it on multiple pipes, so my cost is discounted across many pipes. I spend an additional $12 US for new materials. To put it in perspective, for about $30 US you can buy everything I used in this video allowing for all my errors. So you could double the cost of a basket pipe if you have to try a few times.

So why did you use leather dye? And how can you dilute with alcohol when the stain rubs of with alcohol?
@BarePipe
@BarePipe 4 года назад
Travis H leather dye is absorbed very effectively by the wood, especially when you flame it to drive it into the wood grain. Once dry, it is not easy to re-dilute and remove even with alcohol. The only way to get it off is to sand it out.

Could you tell me what you use as your diluting solution in this video?
@BarePipe

I use isopropyl Alcohol. anything from 70%-99% will do.
