Thank you for this. You are an artist. Sometime maybe you can have a remedial video on staining pipes for beginners. Your a PhD!

Hey there. Great video thanks for sharing. I just started my first pipe and I am trying to figure out what I need to use for the after- staining base and then final stain sanding and then what should I use for buffing? You said you didn’t want to show that part because it’s boring but that’s one of my favorite parts haha. Get to see the final result unfold before your eyes.

I jumped on a Stanwell 35 on Ebay partially motivated by how well this turned out. Curious, as you've played around with different contrast stains on wood blocks, do you have or could you make an image gallery or quick video someday of the different color combinations of base and top coats that you've tried?

Mr. Bare pipe, once you have completed the final contrast staining and have gently sanded, W.D. Buffing and wax buffing, can you go back and do subtle tweaks to the staining, as in do additional staining to get what you exactly want or do you have to strip it down and restrain all over again, thanks Scott

If I have a briar pipe, and I want to put a star design on the pipe, do you think (after removing the old stain of course) I can put a star stencil on the pipe, and then use a dark brown stain everywhere except for the stencil? Would this leave a star outline almost like an inlay? I’m trying it this week. Thanks!

It should be possible. I have used electric tape as a crude mask before and it worked fairly well. Only one way to find out...

Very beautiful but wishing you would have bored us with the sanding and buffing!😢 It’s like I’m ready to blow and I’m left hanging!😅

Bravo, the pipe looks better than new! Im enjoying your vids very much and I get so much inspiration for my own restoration projects. The bowl of alcohol that you use to dilute the stain and wipe the bowl, what kind of alcohol is it? Do you think I can use isopropanol? Non-denaturized ethanol is not sold here. Be well! Emil

TinFoilHatPipeDude thank you. I have the same constraints as you and I use isopropyl 90% strength and I have never had any issues.
