THE WINDOWS ARE IN. And this thing is starting to look like a real tiny house.
In this video I am going to go over how I installed the windows. We'll have a look at how I detailed them and fixed them in. That was a 5am start so I didn't explain things perfectly and mislabeled a few things but you should get the idea.
PLEASE NOTE: The jamb flashings (referred to as side flashings) and the sill flashings (referred to as base flashings) should both be 150mm wide. The Australian Window Association has great info on this.

I also managed to capture the moment I realised my kitchen windows was 10mm too short. The GoPro was on record (not time-lapse) so you get a front row seat to utter despair washing over me as I realised what happened.
I couldn't get all this into one video so I am going to do another video very soon where I'll give you a better look at the windows and run you through some of my thinking. I hope to do that soon.
Let me know if you like this style of vid - where I talk you through what I am doing.
Until next time. Don't hate... educate, and go build cool stuff.

Amazing work as always, much easier to get an image of the final picture and it's going to be immaculate I have no doubt. The windows did truly transform those boxes into something resembling more of a tiny house. Way to take the bull by the horns and rolling with the punches. The corner window was quite satisfying to watch, what a statement that will be for your house!

Yeah it's so hard to explain all of my thinking for this build. That is why I love showing the progress as it goes from an idea I babble on about to then something you guys can see. The windows are really going to set the house off and I can't wait to see it with cladding on. Thank you for following Chris :)

@@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse I'm excited to see what it will look like, I have yet to see anyone attempt a two trailer tiny house. So having a front seat at the thinking and engineering behind it is great! Your meticulousness (is that a word?) shows that you have put so much thought into what you are building. It's clear to see that you have quite some experience under your belt and great to have you share that with us to learn from too.

I have never seen it done, yet it's often talked about. That is one of the reasons I wanted to do it. I really wanted to see if it was possible. Haha we will call it a word, and thank you. A LOT of thought is going in to it and honestly most of it is me working it out as I go. When I started I had no idea if it was possible I just keep working out each challenge as I go. The next big step is getting this thing cladded and weatherproof. That will be the biggest milestone and then be reasonable to say we are going to pull it off.

I always loved installing windows, as I generally enjoy working with a level and I find that once the window sits in place it just gives you the feeling of being 'inside'. Great to see that in the video!

I absolutely loved putting the windows in. For the first time it started to feel like a house inside. Such a great milestone to enjoy.

Doing a long delayed catch up on your progress. Congrats on the build so far and kudos for not only covering waterproofing in such detail but also addressing some of the tricky aspects of finding plumb when doing a trailer build. String line does seem like the simplest solution.

Thank you my friend. Great to have you back. I have some other ideas for aligning the trailers but given I will rarely move them I feel like just measuring will be my main method.

Awesome stuff mate, those windows are pro. Corner window is nothing but solid gold! That look on your face discovering 10mm of glass missing!!!!!! Ugh, the heart ache, that must've been crushing. Way to soldier on and conquer dude. Looking forward to your door build too. Luvin this project. Hope yr window build vid shows how you joined the corner window panes.

Thank you so much. I love how these have come together and the doors are starting to look pretty damn cool. That damn glass almost broke me. I was so over the windows and ready to be done with them. Then to have to go back to square one with a window... devastating. Great idea, I haven't shown joining the corner window. I'll add it onto the look at the windows in the next vid. Glad you are enjoying the build mate, thank you for following along.

A huge effort for huge results! The 10mm discrepancy footage was weird to watch as we have all been there trying to figure who to blame and being in an endless loop of thinking which just circles back to the harsh reality of who mis-measured and who would be fixing it! The interior is so tidy and square, it will almost be a shame to cover it all up!
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse 3 года назад
Haha the first thing I went and did was go check the measurements I sent through. Sure enough it was me. I ordered it just before I took some down time. Just had to accept it and get back to fixing it. Don't worry I think you'll like the interior when it's lined ;)
