Finally! The last video on these damn windows. I have finally found the time to do the final video showing you the windows.
I love how these things have come out. I have seen them in videos and the camera just doesn't do them justice. The oiled Victorian Ash with brass inlays and completely frameless glass just looks simply amazing. They have really opened up the inside and now this thing is starting to look like a house.
My favorite parts of these windows is that I still get to see the timber from the outside, and they give me SHELVES. The depth of them mean they all become shelves as well.
Next steps is getting ready for the cladding. Just wait until we start that, it is going to look amazing. The order is in and I am working on my air vents and the doors while I wait.
Don't hate... educate, and go build cool stuff.

What a reveal, the lounge window is something else now isn't it? The way it opens up to the outdoor scenery as you get closer is quite an optical treat. Great work on the windows, now we're excited and anxious to see the cladding go up!

Thank you Chris. Yeah I didn't expect that lounge window to come out so good and love how it it opens the house up up in outdoors. Cladding is coming very soon. Pretty excited for that.

One of the great things about building is getting to enjoy all the work you put into it once it's done, but at the same time I can tell you enjoy the challenge of how to make your vision a reality. Which is your favorite part: the problem solving and figuring out how to overcome the challenges, the actual building process, or do you think you'll enjoy the end product the most?
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse 3 года назад
It certainly is. You You are right, I love the problem solving and the process. Honestly I find that they are not independent. The process of making something flows into a deeper appreciation of the thing. So I'll enjoy both the most. Very happy to see the end of building them though

Looking fantastic! It's coming together amazingly well. I'm really enjoying this build. You're skills and vision is only topped by your enthusiasm. But I didn't notice you mention where the jacuzzi and swim up bar goes? Perhaps that is your plan for the third trailer? lol

This is a wonderful build and those windows, well they are to die for. Placement is done with a lot of thought. Many THOW builds I see have very poor window positioning.
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse 3 года назад
Thank you Rob. Yeah I put a lot of thought into it. The only thing I'm not sure about is the amount of glass in the main trailer. There is a lot of light. Really going to have to think about solar heat radiation. But I also love how they look
@robmair1696
@robmair1696 3 года назад
@@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse I've fixed box awnings to my THOW windows (27cm deep) on the north side. I do have double glazing however over summer exterior roll down bamboo blinds protect the glass from solar heat radiation.
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse 3 года назад
@@robmair1696 yeah I'm working on some ideas to try keep the sun off and keep the minimal exterior aesthetic. Trying to keep setup a tool free as possible too. Curious to look into tints a bit more too but don't want to loose the exterior look of the timber

@@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse I really like the look of clean image box awnings, they give a minimalist feel to a building. They would look great around your windows.

@@robmair1696 I'm picturing something like a solid flat aluminum awning that just extents straight out. Picture powdercoated flat aluminum plate. Just not sure how yet

Love the modern look of the windows from the outside and the rustic wooden style from the inside, just amazing. Even though I personally prefer windows that can be opened, but your reasonings behind doing it like this was pretty sound. My question though is if you are worried about the glass joint in the corner window not being water-tight, as I see that as a very critical area in a dynamic construction such as this? I have have done a few of those glass joints with silicon and have never seen it being water-tight for more than a few short years in the best case scenario. Worst case: Water leaks in after mere weeks. I hope that is not the case for your window, as it would be a massive bummer, but I cannot help but be worried for you on that end.
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse Год назад
Yeah look I do wish now that I had more airflow. It has been an oversight of this build. So far the corner joint has held up for over a year. There were a couple things I did to make sure it didn't crack easy. 1. Right sealant - I have used an aquarium silicon by Sika. It can handle the UV, great elasticity and adheres to glass really well 2. The joint is bit over 5mm thick. This allows the sealant to compress and elongate over a larger body of adhesive without stressing the bond or over stretching the adhesive. 3. It is 8mm toughened glass and I butted it to the side of another. This means the adhesive bed is at least 8mm wide. 4. The joint is fully external and can be easily redone (well it's a pain to do but easy to access) Not sure how it will go long term or with travel but so far have not had a drop inside and adhesive looks very sound.

The windows look insane! I would say for all that heat gain consider some external shading on those windows that are removable if on sides for transport. I guess that kinda shading would take away from the frameless windows a bit...🤔 Congrats on them dude!
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse 3 года назад
Hey thank you 😊. Yeah great idea. I'm also thinking about solid awnings. Like a flat shade out over the top of the window. Or something that stays with the aesthetic of the house. Also looking at thermal tint and honeycomb blinds as options

I think I would want fold down panels to protect the windows in transit, and that could then make a deck when stationary. Congrats on your windows!
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse 3 года назад
@@rwind656 hey thank you. A lot of logistics to make that happen. I am not too worried about the glass in transit but. It is all toughened glass so will take a lot. Also I only have one small forward facing window. I might put some cardboard over it for transit.

How could you have done these windows with double glazed panels. I love them but here in England id freeze to death
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse
@TwoHandsandaTinyHouse 3 года назад
😂😂 yeah I did think about that. Honestly I'd really need to rethink how the glass is attached to the frames. I'm not sure too be honest. Also have strength issues as I've gone 5mm toughened to make sure it'll take the movement. I couldn't do two panes of 5mm. Have to be much smaller windows I think
