My blood glucose test at a fasted state was 112. This is after being carnivore for over a year. I also take Metoprolol Losartan and Amlodipine for HBP, which I started a little over 3 years ago taking. I recently stopped the Metoprolol and Amlodipine because I read it can affect blood glucose. Within a few days my fasted state has been as low as 87. Not that I recommend this but definitely need to checkout how medications influence it as well.

I so needed this. On the same meds, my BP is high today after not taking any meds, but I think I will eliminate Metoprolol and Amlodipine and see what happens. I am losing weight and have about 60 more pounds to go. I did a 3 day fast and my BS is like 55 today. Aug my morning BS was 279 A1C 10.3. I left that doctor's office with the mind to do Keto, now I am doing Keto/Intermitten fasting/fasting thank you

We are in total agreement with the exception of the metformin recommendation. After having taken this drug for more than thirty years, the end result was extensive neuropathy in my feet which was exasperated by my liver not being able to process vitamin B-12. Stopped the metformin and ALL other drugs three years ago, neuropathy was totally gone within six months! Love your videos.

my blood work is great minus high blood sugar just messaged doctor as to why I am on all these meds especially statins as my cholestorol is lower then a person not on statins like its uber low kinda scary. never have high blood pressure either but on a pill cause of diabetes I guess. I am going keto and hopefully see if the doctor is on board if not I guess I have to find someone else.

I been moving off carbs last year! This year for my carbs under 15g per day with no sugar no carbs. I did have whipping cream in coffee and broccoli or cauliflower sometimes. I’m down to 8.2 just had labs done. Struggling to find a diabetic doctor. In past 2-3 years both Dr left and now I have NP. How to find a physician who will help me get into remission and follow you plan??

If I am on statins for hypercholesterolemia, is it safe to come off them to help increase my insulin sensitivity? I live and work in Beijing, but I do see a cardiologist once each year when I visit America. I have already been working with intermittent fasting, and gradually "keto-cizing" my diet (my morning sugar has been solidly at 116 for the past week). But I won't be able to see my regular cardiologist for another six or seven months. I do have access to hospital services in Beijing, including obtaining my medicines, but I don't have a GP of my own.

Please help! I haven’t had any sugar and near zero carbs for 23 days now, fasting 16-20 hours, one meal a day. My bs is still 170-200; even a few hours after meal. Is it going to come down on its own? In more time? Would metformin help get it going? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Amy, I have the same issue. 25+ yrs on insulin as a type 2. Finally decided to treat with keto against Drs wishes. Only taking metformin now (been on that for many years too) I have been listening to Dr Fung & Dr Boz and intermittent fasting for a year now. I have changed it up recently and am eating 1 meal every other day and my blood sugars are finally coming down! I'm extremely insulin resistant from years of unnecessarily injecting insulin.🙁 *Edited to add that I am down 59# and now have a BMI of almost normal at 25.4. Blood sugars are still my issue though they are way down but still running fasting 110-140 and up to 165-180 after eating for a few hrs after eating. I wouldn't suggest you fasting 48 hrs yet, but increase your fasting window slowly & see if that helps.

Julia Lothamer Thank you so much! I will keep on, it gets frustrating but I know it would be worse to go back to the SAD and I do feel better overall even though the scale and bs doesn’t seem to show any signs of progress yet. What an awesome job you have done, that is inspiring and hopeful to me! All the best to continued success and thanks so much again!

Some people are so insulin resistant, that we may need more assistance. First, metformin is probably what you should have been prescribed. This may help you significantly. If you don't want to take that med, berberine is a supplement that may help. What needs to be done is weight needs to be lost. It may just be a pound but removing the extra energy that is stored in our adipose tissue...needs to be used. It is the storage sites for this energy that has become dysfunctional. To fix it the fat cells have to shrink down....through weight loss.

Does anyone know if he talks about GTT (Glucose tolerance test) in any of his videos? I am wondering if those who are able to “reverse” diabetes would be able to pass a GTT or just not be considered diabetic because of a low A1C.
@nolasavedmysoul
@nolasavedmysoul 4 года назад
Miriam de León I’m guessing it’s the latter. I have “reversed” my diabetes and have an a1c of about 5 (it was 10.2 last year) but if I ever have carbs, it shoots up so I know I’d fail a gtt.
@deleonmiriam
@deleonmiriam 4 года назад
Kavita thank you for your response! I had GD with all of my pregnancies, after my first my GTT came back as prediabetic, after my second it came back as diabetic, oh I cried so bad! Then my doctor ordered and A1C which came back as 5.2 and insulin level of 1.7 (I am not sure but it was on the low end) anyway, the told me I wasn’t a diabetic and that my body will probably go back to normal over time when the baby was older. The thing is.... I still worry that I am, and that I will never be able to pass a GTT . Maybe it’s something dumb to be concerned about.
@deleonmiriam
@deleonmiriam 4 года назад
Kavita also congratulations!!!! What an amazing accomplishment to get your numbers from over 10 to 5
@nolasavedmysoul
@nolasavedmysoul 4 года назад
Miriam de León I don’t think it’s silly to be concerned. Diabetes sucks and you might just be more prone to it if you end up eating a lot of carbs. So it might just be something you have to be aware about and stay low carb to avoid it. I don’t know much about GD though.
@nolasavedmysoul

Miriam de León also, thank you! I went from a normal a1c in September of 2018 to 10.2 a1c in June 2019. It was kinda crazy. Went keto right away and in 3 months it was normal again. But it’s something I’ll have to watch now for the rest of my life 😬

Should I give up all fruit??? I am not big on eating dead critters, but since the CV-19 I am getting food delivered to me & most of it is a high protein meal. Fish, chicken pork, beef, eggs turkey. Yes, they include some veggies & potatoes. I dump the potatoes, the pancakes but I do still eat the rice. Have you heard of Dr. John McDougall, who speaks of how great a starch diet is for people? Goes back into history about eating corn etc... Your thoughts regarding a starch diet?? I would love to eat potatoes, rice & bread all the time, but I know for me it is not a good idea. Can someone like me who is insulin resistant & taking metformin ever b able to eat carbs again without serious problems?? I would like to contact U, but not sure U would accept my insurance if U R charging people to chat. I would assume U R. Thanks for the insight also... I love learning & hearing different points of view regarding diabetes a terrible disease!! It steals everything from a person. I have lost 2 people I knew from diabetes. Not knowing & not doing the right things to take care of themselves.

2:55 carbohydrates are what caused your T2. This may or may not be true. The simple answer here is that a positive energy (fat and carbs) balance has been achieved. Then the subcutaneous adipose tissue became 'over full.' That then caused the adipcytes to become dysfunctional which then caused insulin resistance and the downward spiral into complete metabolic dysfunction. It is very sad for me to see medical professionals that don't even understand how the condition starts...who think that carbs caused it. FYI if a person cannot tolerate carbohydrate, it doesn't mean that carbohydrate caused it.

Jason Moore - Thank you for your insight. I am a thin prediabetic vegetarian with an a1c at 6.2. I have been exercising and is on a low carb diet. I tried Berberine and it doesn’t bring my post-prandial sugar. I dont have any more weight to lose. Any advice? Thanks.
@multispeciesangler
@multispeciesangler 4 года назад
@@deekap8387 there is a Facebook group called Understanding Diabetes. They have a lot of rational scientific information. Check it out. Protein is a typical problem with vegetarians and vegans. It is extremely difficult to activate protein synthesis from eating just plants and eggs and such. The plant protein is not good for bioavailability. We need 2.7 grams of leucine to activate protein synthesis to build muscle and bone. Folks with insulin resistance have an energy surplus in their bodies. Proper protein increases insulin sensitivity. Exercise is a huge contributor to insulin sensitivity as well. Thin T2s should always be checked for for T1 as well.
