I'm the dino whisperer. Dose phyto. It helps the tank transition back and it kinda gums up the Dino's. I also suck out with an airline and add a tiny bit of new water back daily. I also put a cheap plastic dollar tree basket. In the top corner of the tank away from the light. They love it. Cling to it like you wouldn't believe. Easy to suck off and it keeps them out of the light

Dino is from low iron. Jack Adam's has said time after time. And he was right.

I’ve been battling dinos for most of last year and mine are the non UV ones. They’ve been VERY difficult to get rid of and I still have them here and there. What really knocked them back for me was when I started focusing on developing tank bacteria. I bought some Miracle Mud which actually helped a lot. Tank looks awesome btw.👍🏻🍻🤛🏻 Sounds like you’re on the same track I was with Dinos.

Let’s hope it’s a temporary flare up due to nutrients. So far so good thanks bro 🫡

Dinos are the worst! I had them in my 120 a year or so ago. All the coral didn't make it. I didn't do a water change on it for close to a year, after the coral didn't make it, I know that's insane, but all my fish in it are thriving and happy, even today. My goal was get the nutrients HIGH, really HIGH to outcompete the Dinos. It 100% worked. I will be getting back to normal water changes, etc and slowly bring the nutrients down with the skimmer, algae scrubber, etc. Once I am getting it in line with where I want the nutrients I will start adding coral again. I will keep the same feeding schedule I am on now that got the high nutrients and see how well the skimmer and scrubber do. My 60 gallon AIO has been running great for over a year without rock or sand. I converted it to a reef with dry rock and sand and I got what I think to be a diatom outbreak. Nothing slimy like Dinos. I was out 0 phos for a while since the rock was taking it up. Nitrate was staying in a healthy range so I know it didn't bottom out. I do have a microscope and should check it again.

In The past I've used waste away and refresh by Dr tims. 30 mins after lights out dose 1ml per gal h202. It worked for me a few times. Didn't work the last time. Live phyto feeding did help as well.

For anyone that uses a chemical treatment method to solve their tank issue; after you do your initial 'full-blown annihilation' treatment, just make more of the mixture in a dosing container, put it on a dosing pump, and dose a few mills a day when you first start to see signs of return. This is an effective on-going preventative measure until you can isolate the biological or chemical imbalance that causing the issues. Whenever my NO3/PO4 levels get out of range, I'll start seeing signs of cyano. So I keep a container of Red Slime cyano treatment on a dosing pump. Whenever I see signs of cyano return, I'll dose 10mils/day while getting my NO3/PO4 back in range. At this point with this routine, I'm now able to calculate the weekly rate of NO3/PO4 uptake by my tank and can make the adjustments before levels fall out of range.

Im dealing with dinos too. Going to do a "water change" like you did with the filter sock without actually doing the water change and try to get my hands in some phytoplankton

Dino-Farts are the worst! Ny nitrates and phosphates are the opposite of yours. Mine are on the high side. I've been doing 40 gal water changes weekly. Leaving the lights off a day or two usually clears things up a little. All-in-all, even with your dino-farts, your tank looks amazing.

Those look like diatoms. I didn't see any long stringy algae like dinos. Diatoms are like brown rusty colored film on everything. If it's diatoms you should lower the nutrients. A microscope will help identify
