I was done with KISS in 2001. I cant believe people would go see a fake version complete with 2 imposters, wigs, lip syncing, backlines etc. How desperate can you get to be entertained? Its a joke!
I love all incarnations of KISS. Of course we all prefer the original lineup, but that ended. At their worst later on, I was still watching a "Gene and Paul" show--and that's good enough.
The real irony is Paul Stanley doesn't want to deal with anything negative Trunk might say so Trunk is on the outs with him, and Trunk can't deal with Paul's rejection of him.
Unless you were around back in the day, it's really hard to explain why this band was special, the mystique the hype, it was the coolest thing, same as like OG Star Wars, unless you experienced it first hand, you just don't know. Great interview. A marathon. The word respect and opinion gets brought up in the interview. Each one of you are respectful of the other's regarding the band. I actually do not think anyone really knows where their alignment is musically in a genre until they are 12-14 years old. I saw The Beatles introduced on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964 as a 4 year old. Saw the movies, Help and A Hard Days Night when they came out and Dad bought the first two albums. I wouldn't say though that at that age, now as a 5 year old that I was necessarily a Beatles fan. A fan of music, yeah, but I cannot even read, write or add or subtract yet. I'm just beginning to learn the world. The Kid though that is 12 -14 or a little older,.say like 15 or 16 , to me, is a Beatle fan. And I just think that is important to factor in to truly better understand one's prospective.

The thing that gets me about VH is for a major band they've released the least amount of material for their fans. Eddie has had the 5150 studio since 1983. The amount of stuff that can be released is mind boggling, let alone any of the concert stuff
My last memory of KISS is the 2004 tour - their 1st tour w/Tommy and Eric - and for me that was a great night but it was also like, a nice farewell. 1. My salary doesn't keep up with the ticket prices 2. KISS quality has declined - Paul's voice being the biggest example 3. I just felt like 15-16 shows between 1979 and 2004 was a good run for me. So when Eddie is talking about wanting to preserve good memories of a band...I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND !!!!
Ed is dellusional if he thinks his relationship with Ace and Paul doesn't influence his opinion.... And how could he and Paul talk objectively about things if he he wouldn't even go to the show if he was left a ticket ? I used to be a fan but sorry Ed checked out on you. It's as if you never want to take responsibility for the things you have said did I have personally listen to you say that trashed the band. Wasn't just an opinion but many cheap shots.it sounds like Paul one time had respect for you at least until you stuck that knife so deep in his back but of course this is just my opinion LOL
This is a great interview! I catch Eddie most Monday evenings for his Trunk Natuon show on Sirius, and more recently on his Volume channel show. My first Kiss concert, and first concert ever, was January 1985 at the Pensacola Civic Center (Florida)...Krokus was the opening act. Kiss was touring on the Animalize record. This was the arena's grand opening as well. I agree that Dio belongs in the RnR HOF, right along with Maiden.
Eddie is smarter than he gets credit for. He is right, it is INSANE that postponed shows aren't offering refunds. I have at least a thousand dollars worth of tickets for shows that are getting postponed, in some cases 'indefinitely'. Just give me my fucking money back - why should 'they' be making interest on my money?
Metal Show 2.0 really really really NEEDS MUSIC. Some live music, and samples when they're discussing songs, albums, and bands. (Believe it or not, I didn't know all the bands they were talking about.)
As a working man ,I scraped to see them on 2000 final tour as a fan since 76 , then have Paul and gene go on the road for another 20 years in Tommy cover band just didn't set right to me, kinda wish the reunion never happen cause I'm a fan of revenge carnival era kulick rules , and I think a 80s band I wish would made it was shark island great band , great show Mike👍
Good interview but Eddie keeps rehashing the same facts over and over. Listening to his radio show on a weekly basis, I haven't really learned anything new from this interview. But you did a great job Mike, keep 'em comin'!
I love Eddie.....very bright...well informed ...and does a lot to keep our fave genre of music alive He knows what the knock is on him...like name dropping etc .... but he doesnt let it get to him...and he stays the course. Those who knock him....IMO..are merely jealous of him.
I totally respect that he brought up those “knocks” against him on his own, acknowledged them, and moves on. That’s the way to do it.....no one will ever please everyone. Thanks for watching!!
Dear Ed, ACDC made someone to look like Malcolm on the last tour. As with everything you have no clue. And yes, you are clouded by your friendship, nothing wrong with that. The problem is not your opinion, it is that you broadcast it everywhere and can hurt Kiss business. This is why they dislike you.
The reason the guy looked like Malcolm is that he is Angus and Malcolm's nephew. Malcolm always dressed in jeans and a T shirt , not like a costume like Kiss wears by any stretch. So having toured with the band and being related to them of course his style of playing is similar. So I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to prove with this statement . Kiss took 2 guys and dressed them exactly like former members . Now had they done that from day 1 , you could say well that is the characters they play regardless of who is in the roll. But when Peter left Eric came in and created his own persona, They did the same when Ace left and Vinnie did his thing. They didn't play as Peter and Ace. All Trunk has ever said was he thought Gene and Paul should have left new create their own characters once they went back to the make up. The reason they didn't was that the 4 characters are are what sold the band not the player
@@dakotaescher1 Yes he does as it was given to him . that particular guitar is important to AC/DCs sound , besides if Malcolm hadn't become ill and later died he'd still be playing in AC/DC his exit wasn't voluntary or the result of being fired . So I still think it is a poor comparison your using. Also AC/DCs image wasn't based on Malcolm it was based on Angus primarily and Bon and Brian second. The rest of the band were important backline players. All 4 members of Kiss were equal parts of the image of Kiss.
Thing is Eric and Vinnie had they're own characters in the band. Why can't Eric and Tommie have they're own character in the band. I think it would be welcomed by fans as it was back then.
26:10 totally with you Mike. RTN tour with the rare cuts was cool and I’m all about the songs. That’s why the EOTR is so bad - it’s almost without exception the same boring songs they’ve done into the ground for decades, the guitars are in D so all the songs sound wrong and Paul is faking the singing. Surprised you give them a pass on it if you’re about the music.

Eddie has a producer??? WTF do they do?? His podcast has the worst sound level discrepancy between him and the guests. There is no worse audio levels that exist on podcasts.
I think now that the 2 main members of KISS have a lot of money from playing over the yrs the band should play for a charity of some sort and donate that money to that charity instead of being so money hungry.
It's all about Paul and gene and they always shit on peter n Ace and how they can't play live anymore there always trouble but for the past 10-15 yrs try to listen to Paul Stanley singing live he sounds horrible gene can still sing but they shouldn't talk about anyone else
You guys are delusional if you think KISS would fill Central Park in 2021. They couldn’t even do two nights at MSG last year! They’re nowhere near the same league as Billy Joel or Elton John or the Stones that could do a mammoth Central Park gig.
