Listen in as we explore the challenging yet transformative power of forgiveness, a subject often easier said than done. Join Megan Ashley as she shares personal stories and experiences, shedding light on the significance of releasing offenses and finding freedom through forgiving ourselves. In the episode, we refer to a powerful devotional by Jackie Hill Perry, which emphasizes forgiveness as a path to redemption and becoming a 'new creature'. We further illuminate the discussion by examining the story of Joseph from the Bible, who forgave his brothers despite their betrayal.
In our quest to understand the complexities of forgiveness, we underscore the importance of letting go of the past and seeing ourselves through God's eyes to avoid falling into the trap of self-condemnation. The spiritual hindrance unforgiveness can bring and the barriers it can erect in our relationship with God and his promises. With references to David's angry words towards God, I encourage listeners to acknowledge their anger, release it, and choose forgiveness. This episode is a heartfelt call to healing and freedom through the power and necessity of forgiveness.
Other topics you will hear:

-Spiritual Growth
-Resentment
-Power of Forgiveness
-Releasing Offenses

I was running away from this episode because I didn't want to "deal with God" anymore...in actuality, I didn't want to deal with "ME" and my unforgiveness. Now i'm sitting here journaling and crying!!

Listen forgiveness of self is real! I’m still learning to forgive myself, but what resonates most is that I know Jesus died for the forgiveness of my sins, and I whole heartedly believe this and stand on this, so it helps me to be reminded that his death was intentional and not in vain, and I acknowledge that every time the enemy tries to condemn me with the mistakes of my old nature, I remind myself that my identity is in Christ, and that through him I am forgiven and I have redemption! Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me, Hallelujah 🙌🏾

This is so good. As I’m listening the Holy Spirit is also saying these unforgiveness is also a form of PRIDE. Because we tend to want to have control over what we can “keep” and/ or “release” but what many don’t realize is that when you do not forgive, you are also hindering your prayers being answered by God. So sometimes people are a by product of their own outcomes because they refuse to forgive others. Holding onto unforgiveness allows the enemy to keep you in bondage of that situation versus being set free.

Forgive people ! The people who hurt you will move on with their lives and god will continue to bless them so you either can watch them and be mad in the corner or move forward and live fully in what god has for you. It’s hard but it’s what’s best.

If God ain’t trying to do nothing else He sho nuff trying to kill this pride and ego I’m dealing with. Forgiveness will do that. The fact that I have to forgive you knowing you did me wrong is one of the hardest things to do but when you choose to die to self daily this is part of it 🤷🏽‍♀️

@GoogleAccount00
@GoogleAccount00 9 месяцев назад
Remember forgiveness is for you and not for the person who has offended or hurt you. The forgiveness releases you from the pain and rumination of their act. They don’t have to be apologetic or show penitence, but you also don’t have to be in close relationship with them; you can set boundaries. You are attempting to be controlling (playing God) by demanding that the other person do or say something in order for you to implement forgiveness. What also helps is gaining an understanding, and looking at things from a different perspective. What can you learn about yourself from the situation, how can the situation make you better? You got this! Set yourself free! ❤

Forgiveness is the starting place for freedom. I was in a season where I thought i had forgiven but instead of walking into the new, i chose to pick that offense back up because it felt more comfortable to be at odds with that person than to truly do the work to reconcile that relationship. God revealed that in order for me to step into my next I couldn't carry the baggage from the past. Letting it go really means leaving it behind and operating from Agape love; Love without expectation.

EXACTLY! I loved this! Forgiveness is indeed for both! The scripture says Matt 5:23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first, be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. It says if YOU REMEMBER SOMEONE ELSE has an issue with you, basically be the bigger person and go try to make amends! NOT if YOU HAVE AN ISSUE because it's easier to acknowledge your ought and seek resolve... it's not always easy, but it's easier than going to someone who has hatred in their heart towards you and having to love and forgive! Forgiveness is so crucial to salvation and without it, we won't be forgiven. It is PRIDE that keeps us from forgiveness and pride is the beginning of all sin and comes before the fall! Proverbs 16:18-20 Pride goeth before destruction, And an haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, Than to divide the spoil with the proud. He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: And whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he. Mark 11:25 - And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses Proverbs 8:13 “To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behaviour and perverse speech.

Thank you Meg for this episode. This whole year i have been confronted with this message of forgiveness. One of the things that stands out is we tend to think that an apology or a sorry or admission from the offender will heal but i came to learn that healing only comes from God. And many times this year i have had to do the action of opening my hands repeatedly as i declare that I release this person and all the emotions attached to God. And at the point that we open up and release it to the Lord is the point that he can start to heal us. We give God the permission to start our healing since he is the only one that can heal when we release our pain and offense to him. Thank you Meg. Love from Uganda 🇺🇬

At times what helps is to look at the person as another image bearer, recognizing that if Christ was able to forgive you for so much, surely you can do the same. "I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul. Psalm 31:7", "You don’t look at us only to find our faults, just so that you can hold a grudge against us. Psalm 103:9 TPT". Knowing that God cares about our pain and how we feel really goes a long way and knowing how he looks at us empowers us to look others the same way and extend the same grace through his help.💝

I had a hard time even understanding forgiveness because of the concept of “fairness” but this clears the air better. 🔥🙏🏽

Megan Ashley you are ministering, if to no one else TO ME, God brought me to you podcast as support for you into this new era of your journey from where you were. And as that same girl “still fighting that fight” ive indulged into your content and will continue to do so because you’re just the intermediary christian figure I was yearning to have for fellowship and guidance(even through social media connections)❤

I’m offended by one of my aunt’s husband- I forgive him but my trouble was moving forward with wisdom in how to carry on with this person- this my prayer now. ❤ I’m not sec righteous but I don’t want to partake with that person anymore. Tell me if I’m wrong in this way of thinking children of God?
