Ep.6 CRUMB BOSS ERA Part 1 

I got hooked on Crumb Boss TV with the Swiss Meringue and Oreo Cookie Cake video and I remember it so vividly. Back then, baking on RU-vid was just very unexplored and your content was just awesome - so educational and genuine, it's no wonder it took off. I really wanted to visit NYC and come by Woodland Bakery (all the way from Europe!) to check out your mouthwatering cakes and try THE crumb bun - kinda bummed I didn't make it. Love hearing your stories, especially how you roll with the punches, sharing the good, the bad and the ugly.

I remember watching the Crumb Boss videos. I Didn't realize how much work behind the scenes you did, but it was appreciated. It's nice listening to your stories.

Thank God for Stephanie!! Thank God for Crumb Boss!! Without it so many wouldn’t know you or what you are all about! Like I said previously, you pioneered what baking on RU-vid was. You even came in the days where 10 minute max on videos was still a thing. I adore those old videos. You’re an incredible teacher and so generous. You’ve helped me so many times in blog answers or just watching videos again or wherever in real time disasters. I owe a fair amount of my understanding of what i’m doing to you. I mean, I’ve had other avenues, but I really always come back to my Gretchen resources (I have a lot of your old stuff that you ditched when you changed everything to the Vegan version)

I miss your Crumb boss days so much....your channel was so fun and knowledgeable...I wish it could come back on here!!

Crumb boss was my highschool getaway ,so many happy memories of you two ❤ We do respect your honesty about the hardships in the bakery Nowadays, social media are super fake and glamored,even bakery owners are like that They are like Omg we are so happy that we wake up 3 in the morning to bake cupcakes 😂 Keep this kind of posts going They are so relaxing ❤

chiming in here about your biggest regret, not letting that lady use the restroom. I am going to go on a limb and say that may have just been good intuition, or discernment. I think it is very smart and wise not to allow customers who are not trained into your bakery. I don't like anyone coming into our kitchen area because I am paranoid about hairs getting into the food! :) Don't beat yourself up. You probably saved yourself from a major catastrophe.

That "fall" sounded fake. You had no one - no employees around to witness her supposed "FALL". As you were beginning to tell your story, I was thinking that she came in... purposefully - positioned herself on the floor before she made the noise to catch your attention. Too bad you didn't have a video camera onsite at the time to protect yourself. She wouldn't have won. I do miss GRETCHEN'S BAKERY. Not gonna lie. I made your ubersized cinnamon rolls and the chocolate cake with fudge icing. ALWAYS requested by my family members. I've been with you since 2009 and I understand you wanting to move to a vegan lifestyle; but, I do miss your recipes from Gretchen's Bakery and wish that you'd just put them in a book and sell it for those of us still wanting the "non-vegan" recipes 😏😁 I miss your bakery videos too....they were fun to watch😊. Whatever became of your trusty, dusty Kitchen Aid mixer (if I recall correctly, didn't it have a flame decal or something like that🤔? My sister even started watching them. She'd send a link to me of whatever she wanted me to make from that particular video. I was going to entice her with some pastry if we could take a trip to your bakery one day; but, unfortunately, you had decided to and followed through with closing it before we could make a trip.😒 Looking forward to the follow up to this story because it's bringing back fond memories from my vantage point of your bakery videos. You've touched a lot of people's lives without realizing this😊.

Ok, well, Gretchen, I get it about all the fear of lawsuits and people attacking you from all angles including the state. My family business has been attacked enough to know exactly what you mean. We have an accessibility issue occasionally that requires us to stop our lives and do expensive construction that isn’t covered by anything. Out of pocket to appease the whiners and complainers in society. It’s hard to turn profit as it is and then you add that. Then your reputation is out there and people are constantly trying to ruin that … not the good ones, but the small handful of demon people who hang around businesses like yours just to play games. So, I get it and I don’t really blame you. That’s just how you felt at the time. When you remove yourself from the daily environment of reoccurring stresses and issues in the same businesses and you take a good long pause from it perspective can definitely change, but reverse that and people who aren’t in it don’t have any idea and they really should be made to be aware of the struggle more often so they are more appreciative. I know many other small businesses owners with years of stories to tell along these lines. We are all in the same boat. Everyone wants us to fail.

Omg Gretchen Crumb Boss was the best! I used to tell my friends about your videos all the time as if you and Steph were my real friends. Those videos were the best and hilarious. I was DEVASTATED when it ended and when it was deleted. I used to sit and write out your recipes. Thank you for sharing these stories. Such nostalgia. Can you please now disclose what happened ??? I always wondered what had gone on. I was convinced that Steph did the dirty on you.
