Nutshell 2 looks fantastic, if in need of lots of elbow grease. If anyone can do it, you two can, especially when you know everyone’s good wishes are with you. Looking forward to the next vlog. Sally & Billy ⚓️⚓️
Hi Magnus Wendy....My My...What a world of difference this is to Narrowboat Nutshell....You will soon have her in shipshape...Don't breathe the mould and bird muck in when you are cleaning thou...Looking forward to seeing her sailing..xx
Oh boy.....nice boat but you sure have a lot of work to do. My 24’ cruiser (Albany, Western Australia 1975) was only locked up for two weeks and already musty so I can imagine how the mould took over on your new ‘Nutshell Adventure’. Looking forward to seeing it all shipshape and sparkly clean. Best wishes from ‘down under’...Perth, WA.
WOW, Nutshell has so much potential and you two are the right ones for the job, positive attitude and a huge tub of elbow grease and Nutshell will be all sparkling and ready for the world. So exciting, thanks for sharing your journey. Hx
Great looking yacht guys. Plenty of work but I don't think you will find it to much of a problem. You seem to be able to turn your hand to anything. Looking forward to seeing more.
Sailing Nutshell crew!! I want to take you back to this video at 6:20. Look at your faces!! What joy & panic!! And then you say “it just needs a bit of elbow grease”!! Love it. All the best Richard
Had to stop as we boarded the launch to savoir the unexpected rush of excitement I was feeling. The fear of the unknown is as though it where my concern. Remembering the photos and seeing you two smiling merrily as you carry your kit towards this, your next great adventure. Cheers, and thanks for inviting us along for the ride.
You really work to that maxim . One life ,live it . Good luck to you , a lot of work and money needed on that boat. As a mere mortal I look forward to your future posts .
What a lovely part of the world to be. What a lot of work you guys have ahead of you. All the hard work will pay off 10 fold with the adventures you will have. Looking forward to the next video to see the progress and the treasures you have found. x

Over the last week or 2, we have watched all your NB videos again! And enjoyed them all - all bar E64....my better half could not watch it a 2nd time,,,,,she said it is too sad, bless her....we are starting your new journey again across the Pacific!!
Ketch-tastic! Love your attitude, bravery and sense of humour. Lots of room and bonus kit too, including much needed rubber gloves ;-) Good luck with the tidying, cleaning and fettling.
Love your optimism! We are so excited for you and hope all your surprise finds are good ones as you go through the new SV Nutshell. Fair winds and safe travels. Cheers!
My first thought was my God, what have you done my friends! But I see you both handling it all with a smile on your faces, sweat on your brow and a sense of humor, I envy your adventure! Cheers! Rich
Amazing and quite frightening, where to start! thank you so much for sharing your first experience on board, I'm sure it will be a palace when finished your spring cleaning. happy days
Its like you bought someone's life! I love this kind of thing and I want to see everything you find on Nutshell. You have a lot of work ahead, for sure, but sh'es going to be a beauty when you're done. Can't wait to see more!
OMG you two have a lot of work in front of you. But i think you two will get that boat into shape.. Wish i was there just to help. Its going to be fun watching...
Galley first - my thoughts exactly. After that, filled gas bottles, to supply the copious amounts of tea necessary, then all things will come together, inch by inch. With a fair wind, I can see you making Alaska by the end of May, to watch the calving glaciers. Best of luck, Nutters. x
Wow - I'm glad you two have a lot of energy and strength! Might need some masks while cleaning the mold though - it can be very nasty. But what an adventure! I'm envious even seeing all the work that must be done. Looking forward to watching the videos as you progress. The best of everything to you!
Good grief you guys love a challenge....If any couple can get that boat back in shape I guess it's you two. Good luck folks, I shall be watching with interest
OMG! Is the hull wood? What a beautiful boat. (Well it WILL be!) Really impressed with what you're doing. The very best of luck to you both. Get it out (the boat) and get it checked! -- WHAT A RIDE! --
Best of luck guys. Seems weird you were in my local the Navigation at Kilby Bridge couple of months sgo or so now you are now half way around the world to embark on another greay adventure
Lot of work. First thing I would do is get her on the hard and check for soft spots in the hull, may do a lot of work and then find it isn't sound. Great videos. Waiting to see you in Alaska
Hi Grant. We couldn't get here up on the hard here due to the commercial boats having priority to the slipway. We will haul her out once we get to Mexico. Cheers
Hahaha you had me lifting my nose sniffing too! Yes I know what the smell is like in a yacht that has been closed up for a long time, but she is a beauty...sorry Wendy, I was talking about the boat!!! Guys I wouldn't leave that exposed varnish for too long...preaching to the converted! Magnus try filling the cylinders with oil for a good soak, dunno what you do about a Stern Gland though. Oh boy she is a beauty, did I say that before? I wish you joy of your new Nutshell
Looks like you have your work cut out for you, it may be dirty, but it looks solid. Remember you can eat an entire elephant, you just have to take one bite at a time. Best of luck with the new boat.
lovely musty damp smell... only lethal for first week! lol jk, nicely explored! looks like someone wanted you to fix the boat! all the stuff you need! one question, where are the hats? well you are in panamar! lol
Just came across your channel after watching your interview with Barry. You had a VW shirt on, which I own, and you said Hans Christian to which I immediately subscribed. A boat is in my near future and hopefully a Hans in my far future. Beautiful boats.
It looks a bit daunting eh.great potential though.just think..every job you do will improve it so much! One job at a time then a beer.good luck and out with the sandpaper and varnish .cheers.sime.
You guys will be busy till Xmas and beyond , cleaning , painting , varnishing the inside and not to mention the motor , rigging , sails and the deck and you will have barnacles all under the hull so good luck with all that :-)
Now this is so amazing going to be great. Heard now via FB or was it Twitter you have the engine going, onwards then hope you find internet regularly for our fix! Cheers Ade
And I thought I had a lot to do getting our piddly 27ft canal cruiser sorted ! Nutshell II looks a good basis though, plenty of useful stuff for the re-furb. Enjoy the project!
Good luck on this next adventure. My wife and I have been watching and loving your videos. Since you’re sailing to Alaska, please let us know when you’re coming through Santa Barbara. We’d love to take you around and maybe show you some good Santa Barbara brewpubs if you’d like. We’re quite serious so please reach out to me when you hit San Diego or Los Angeles.
Hi Mat. That sounds fantastic. I've heard that the west coast is Craft Beer mad. We are defiantly heading your way. I don't know when we will get there. No real time plans yet. Cheers
If anybody can do this you two can. Once you get the inside cleaned and tidy and freshened up things will start to feel a lot better. Yes it is a lot of work but it's not a race.
The Miami Beach bird on the left is a mockingbird. A quintessential Southern (U.S.) bird (as in the novel “To Kill a Mockingbird”). They’re territorial at certain times a year and will peck you on the head if you get near their nest. The one on the right is a crow? Fish crow?
Wow! This is going to be interesting! Can you post videos 2xweek? Unfair ask with all that work, but this transformation is going to be epic. I can see why you chose her, she's beautiful.
I seem to recall that those buzzards or whatever were circling over Nutshell are migratory and do that when they find a thermal as they travel between seasonal habitats. A bit special to see if that is what they were doing.
Remember when you said you bought it at a good price. ......and you thought you could not afford it........then you receive a surprise call back from the seller to say you can have it......I think his other buyer actually visited the boat and it's mould and thought better of it. Good luck with the clean up and it might be ready to sail by xmas
Just tuned in. A mixture of white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide is supposed to be better for cleaning mold and mildew than bleach. You may want to google the formula. Only look at one small project at a time. It will come together.
A bit of cabin fever here and I particularly enjoy the episodes early in your ownership of Nutshell hence all the comments. It has been said that you can tell if you are in a tourist spot in Alaska because the bear poo has fabric, buttons and jewelry in it and smells of bear repellent.
