Ep. 78: Is Ryan Garcia the NEW "KING" of Boxing?!?! 

I never gave ryan the respect he deserved until the tank fight got made an I realized he bent over backwards to make that fight an he was the only reason that fight got made an for the lead up to the Haney fight I was put off wit his antics I kinda thought his mouth wrote a check his ass couldn't cash but he showed up but he ain't the face

Ryan is saving boxing, he is running around taking on all of the smoke! Not ducking behind politics!

Fellas. Fantastic episode. So much to say here but in all.... Canelo is still the face. Ryan is now 2nd place. But... if David benavidez wins undisputed at 175 and beat Morrell, then he will be the face unless Ryan balls out with more top competition. As far as what determines who is the face of boxing, there are 2 traits of criteria. It's 30% being a people's champion and 70% popularity. There is a difference between people's champion and popularity. Ryan was the underdog who took the crowd. That is people's champion area. His RU-vid and social media "popularity " is what gets him the most. Ryan had brought in more women who don't know diddly about boxing involved. Canelo has a whole country supporting him, that's why he's still the face. I'm gonna drop 2 more comments.

Ok...I don't know why ppl are saying this is a bigger upset than Douglas vs Tyson. Ryan was not a 30 to 1, or even 46 to 1 underdog like Buster. Also Ruiz over Joshua was a bigger upset. Ryan beat good fighters and was drained by Tank. How is his win over Haney and bigger upset? I don't see it. I'm gonna put one more comment about the weight crap.

Ok... the weight comment. Ryan won far and square and here's why. The fight was at 140 and not a lower weight compared to the 136 fight Ryan had vs Tank. Devin should have been "comfortable " at 140lb. 140lb is a legit class... not 136lb. Garcia told ppl he was moving to 140 due to weight issues and Tank drained him to back to 136 making the situation not the norm for Garcia. 140 is a norm division. Boxers are saying that ryan had an advantage but how so? Ryan didn't move the goalposts like Tank. Boxers are saying that it takes alot to be professional and make the weight in which they have to "drain" themselves. Well... if Devin had to "drain" himself so much, then he shouldn't be fighting at 140lb, he should be at 147lb. Also, Devin was reported to have fought Regis weighing in at 165lb on fight night. That fact that Devin was capable to control his weight and hydrate so much is like the bs shoes excuse. Those are Devins responsibilities. Now had Ryan drained Devin to fight at 138lb and Ryan was 141lb, then ppl have an argument here bc Ryan is moving the goalpost. I'm a Haney fan but I'm about being fair. Haney should just take this L, learn from it, and see if he can be an all time great by bouncing back like the past greats have done. It is not over. I hope this makes sense.

Ryan is the Hispanic Adrien Broner. Decent skills but he’s not elite. All he has is that left hook. Haney isn’t elite either obviously if he can’t stop a left hook from landing all night long. The face of boxing is still Canelo
