As an Indian, I must say that the Tibetans are our beloved brothers and sisters, whether they take Indian citizenship or not. Love to every Tibetan. I pray no greedy Indian takes advantage of any Tibetan or troubles him or her.
Tibetans are extremely hardworking and honest. They had to come to India with meagre belongings, toiled day in and out, now the community has established so well. Hats off to all Tibetans❤
You have rightly said that tibetans struggle would not diminished, when somebody opted for an indian citizenship. We must change the social perspective in our society to get a broader sense of lesson. Thank you, Dr Dickey la for taking time to explaining us.
There remains a risk of the struggle fading away, when the community assimilates deeply into the foreign culture. Many refugees elsewhere in the world in many cases got comfortable in their new country and within a few generation forgot their past.
As a hindu nationalist I as a individual or as a organisation don't have any separate view of how I see my blood brothers and sisters and How I see my Tibetan brothers and sisters...We are family 🧡
As I live in Arunachal (northreast state of India) I noticed many of the tribes here born of sino-tibetan or tibeto-burma..... I didn't even realise that my sub-tribe of the bengali tribe (koch-ranjbongshi) also born from tibet yearrrss ago! Which I really didn't aware till I was researching of my sub-tribe in google! Also I have seen many recent refugees here are really hardworking! And truely honest even I am a regular customer of small fast food shop owner is from tibet... I told him to set some cctv at shop as its really easy to rob while he is working and then where he explyme about karmas🙂... I am always amazed by their personality. India is hugely diverse alreay! So I don't think that citizenship of tibetans should be a concern! Bcoz they are the person who can even change our society and hence together we can form a country! Welcome to India! Jai hind , jai bharat jai tibet
If you'r in my surname then you could be wrong too... Bcoz many other Indians tribes and non-Indians too carry this surname so its not worthy all the time but yes fortunately you'r right, am bengali..
Tibetans are always welcome in India. I understand about your culture, but let me tell you, no one in India will destroy your culture.. but westernising is something that is universal in ASIA :) You have to correctly pass the culture down to your younger generations. There are many Tibetan colonies, keep it as a sanctuary for the young ones to learn and practice ..like summer school. Who know one day Tibet may become free, and they your new generations should Not feel like foreigner there, of course the commies would have destroyed the building, houses.. and people who are stuck there, but not your culture.. if You keep it safe. Tibetans are not the only one who took refuge here in India, many did and they still maintain their identity and none in India bother them, and they contribute to this country in their own way. Everything has an Expiry date, I am sure Communism too has.
For all Indian Buddhists.... Tibetan people , scholastic monks , nuns are our brothers and sisters..... Not refugees for we Indians. Long live HH the great 14th Dalai Lama... Long live Indo Tibetan friendship... Long live Phod-rig phunda ( from Tibet to South Indian and India to Mongolia ... Across the Himalayas).
It is creditable thing that this Tibetan lady has achieved a P.hD degree, this kind of pursuits help a community to grow, even I a Indian citizen haven't got a P.HD,congrats to her, let her world wise vision grow.
As an bengalee i would say india is a multiethnic country.... Tibetans are very good and hardworking people How they create school, hospital and preserve their culture is fascinating ❤❤ Lots of Love.....
If Tibetan refugees are applying and get citizenship of North America, Europe or other countries then there is no problem for Tibetan getting citizenship of India if the Government of India issues according to law.
according to current Government of India Law in particular the when it comes to Citizenship those born between 26th Jan 1950 onwards till 1st July 1987 in India are automatically granted citizenship by birth.
Madam, if you want to take up the citizenship in India, you have to become Indian. You can still preserve your culture, manners, food and language, but you will still have to live with Indians. You can always struggle for freedom of Tibet, and if it does come, you're free to return. India should include Tibetans in the CAA.
She is 💯 right. I was born in india, but everything was very difficult. I remembered that some parts of North East used to make protist Tibetan refugees go back 😢😢 I am lucky one that 24 years ago, I found my way to Switzerland and became Swiss citizenship. I can never thank enough to this beautiful Switzerland🙏. Because this country gave me new meaning of my life. ❤❤❤ and new freedom. Switzerland has been a great country and very kind to me. I am very proud to say i am Swiss and Tibetan ❤😀 I wish all the Tibetan in india will get Indian citizenship . Without this, trust me, our next generation will be in trouble .
Actually they are under administrative rule under dalalama....they tried to get their country back with peaceful way.. Once Jew faced this situation Truth always win Tibet always tibetian not in Chinese...
@@mmthbabu6727 I don't think that day will happen if your administration didn't directly negotiate to China without united support Who sees nothing but the benefit of the united States, who has been a refugee for seventy years.
Tibetan descendants are our responsibility. Who knows this honest hard working group will be next tatas. Younger ones are migrating. I see them around in Mysore. A Tibetan army unit waiting for orders.
Wish India issues a special category for Tibetans that allows them to easily get dual Tibet Citizenship when Tibet becomes independent.. love you Tibetans..! India is also your home..
Well explained with good arguments, very interesting topic clear to everyone I guess. Message, advices from someone who research thoroughly will affect much well to the viewers for sure. Thanks to this podcast.
Yes, Indian citizenship is the way for 2nd generation tibetans, who are children of tibetan refugees, who were generously given accommodation in Various states of India. But Tibetans all over the world could Introduce OCT, overseas citizen of Tibet. This way the issue can still be alive in the UN and world forums. CAA in India was introduced just for ppl like you. No need to feel alienated!
If Tibetans are facing any type of problem in our institution , for that I am sorry , but the truth is we love you , India is not a totally independent country . We are changing the system who hate Bharat and it's son and Daughter, it will take 1-2 years more after that Both of us will celebrate our Cultural identity together. We request our administrative system to reach our Tibetans brother and Sisters who are facing problem and help them , to make their life easy .
We should introduce tibetan history in indian history books and after that 7-10 yrs we should also allow tibetan as indian in CAA . That's how it won't create Havoc in society when they will know there history and culture and opposition will not create a political topic because of this as it's going on CAA. Right now. Thankyou
10 years ago .. i loose a very good opportunity to work with Barclays .. there were around 100 people attempting the interview and the interview had many stages .. and the end of the day .. after cracking all the interviews .. they chose just 2 poeple and i was one of them .. i was on the cloud nine .. they asked me to submit all the documents including the copy of the passport .. and as a tibetan the only passport i had was rc .. the next day they called and said i can not join since i am not a citizen of india .. 😢.. tried explaining the situation to them .. but all in vain ..
I am all pro for Indian Citizenship for Tibetans , but I think , in the long run , Human tendencies are to loose original identity if new is provided. India govt needs to really come up with some innovative ideas to make policies more inclusive and extend all rights to Tibetans.
Before Tibet used to be apart of India because Kailash and Mansarovar lake are considered sacred since ancient times and even Yajurveda was found there but in 1959 and 1962 war China took those parts of India as our prime minister Shree Nehru ji wanted friendly relation with china but they chose fighting and capturing.
Tibetans in India should make use of every opportunity to educate and empower themselves. Otherwise they will find themselves behind with rest of India. What Dickey said about being lone Tibetan in college are all temporary more like a cultural shock and you will eventually get used to it. It should not be a big concern.
Shock to see 👀 very low subscriber... , Indian and Tibetans were historically same origin people... India 🇮🇳 is land of culture and diversity, dont be insecure of vanish of tibet culture, just make Institute or museums for you culture and move on in your life, Go in search for better life to get better livelihood, better education 🤩🎓 This land of hindus, has saved and preserved persecuted Parsi, ( Tata, Wadias especially), Jews than what is your fear... ❤
Those who are eligible aren't mustering enough confidence to go opt for passport solely because the hesitancy of losing what they have entitled in Settlements, otherwise it would have been flooded.
I don,t think seeking citizenship of any country is wrong per sa. Even for Indians many of them have seeded citizenship abroad in almost all countries across the world and have intermingled with people abroad as well. But despite many generations they have kept their links with their language, culture and religion
What are your thought on lets say, India sets a claim on all the areas of Tibet where the rivers flow into India? Would it be a more realistic chance of Tibetans being able to return to Tibet if the U-Tsang region itself becomes an Indian state. So this would include important cities along the Indus and Brahmaputra, including Nyingchi, Lhasa, Shannan and Shigatse. Because its highly unlikely China will give away the further eastern parts of Tibet where their own rivers begin, but they have less worry about the region where Indian rivers begin. This way, Tibetans who applied for Indian citizenship dont have to apply for a new citizenship either. China is bound to collapse in the next few decades due to their population collapse, but a small group of freedom fighters are still unlikely to get autonomy. Unless of course, you have India's direct military support and interest in the region.
all developed countries' populations are collapsing , India will be the winner at last ! Indians always are optimistic from every points , maybe the weather in India is different ?
war and occupation is not the solution but rather diplomacy and cooperation. What you propose likely would see border being pushed to U-Tsang from current Ladakh between India and China. Where Tibetans would be a collateral besides all the environment issue linked. This would not solve the border issue but rather escalate it even further as there are Tibetans living beyond U-Tsang if I am not wrong. Occupation which you bring here be it from India or China would be a big no-no. As the whole world is watching. Having an independent, free and sovereign Tibet acting as a buffer zone would be at the interest of all parties here in my opinion, especially to India. With the Dalai Lama being growing up in India there will be a strong tendency to support India from the Tibetan mass as well. However with each year and no movement on this front especially with the Dalai Lama getting old the problems would likely explode where all would lose, inlcuding India and China firstly, then Asia and the larger world.
just integrate to any where you go any country ,no assimilation. You do not have to assimilate, in fact we cannot escape from the Tibetan race culture and tradition, we can never become English/American no matter one has been living in the west or Europe for 100 yrs.Tibetan Canadian/Tibetan American , it means nothing more than for a livelihood, for career and a better opportunity. The core cause/message of Tibet and Tibetans is to preserve of culture/identity and freedom struggle no matter where you live and what you speak and your accent.
Im glad that the young generation acknowledge the crisis but im afraid your aim 🎯 is in the wrong direction!! INDIA used to be that big mother-land with all those border nations as part of INDIA but was given freedom as they wanted! Now these same nations are loosing their land and again wanted to be INDIANS! If you want to be INDIAN you better be ready to fight for that land which was part of the motherland!
There aren't just some, I'm pretty sure majority of the Tibetans in exile wouldn't go back to Tibet if given the chance to should Tibet ever be hypothetically free. Whatever the sentimental reasons maybe, it just wouldn't be practical or viable, nor would it be desirable for many.
What you said makes sense. Chinese history records that Tibet was Chinese territory 800 years ago. It is too difficult to talk about independence now. With the help of the United States, the exiled Tibetans took away the treasures of Tibet and fled to India. They are still receiving salaries from the CIA. Emotionally speaking, Tibetans in China now have a strong sense of identity with China because they understand the history of "Tibetan serfs". Overseas Tibetans love Tibet, but they don't understand the history of Tibet. When overseas Tibetans shouted for a free Tibet, why were the 7.05 million Tibetans in China indifferent? The McMahon Line drawn by the British was taken seriously by India. Whose territory is that? If overseas Tibetans want to go home, they must understand the history of Tibet and must know that the southern Tibet and Ladakh regions are actually part of Tibet. The 14th Dalai Lama should also make the history of "serfs" public so that overseas Tibetans can know it, instead of smearing China all day long. As long as the 14th Dalai Lama admits his mistakes, recognizes history, and negotiates with China, I think there is still a possibility of returning to Tibet. After all, Tibetans all over the world speak the same language and dance the same folk dance. It is really good to be able to live together. China is also a diverse and inclusive country. But since overseas Tibetans do not understand the history of Tibet, how can they say that they truly love Tibet and truly want to return to Tibet?
i know that many tibetan don't take citizenship, but I think it'll not help your core cause anyways , once you get citizenship, you get connected to Central system of indian government opening many opportunities,, anyways you already know cuz most tibetans are born in India, I would urge tibetans to avail citizenship benefits but keep doing what your original cause was
Tibetian in India, abroad, and at Tibet must put pressure on UN,western countries and America on China to vacate illegally occupied Tibet land and allow them live peacefully
Personally, I believe Tibetans should not take the Indian Citizenship or of any other country, if the clause doesn't allow them to be dual nationals. The fire of FreeTibet must remail lit. Tibetan Citizenship, even if on paper is required for that. Im afraid that after few generations no Tibetan will even remember their roots. Indian Government must allow Tibetans all rights that an Indian Citizen gets.
There is a Tibet government in exile, this government should work on throwing China out of Tibet.I am surprised that UN is not doing any thing regarding the Chinese occupation.
India welcomed Tibetans as refugees and provided land for them to live on and if Tibetans wan Indian citizenship then it is understood that they have to give up the free land and work as a tax payer like every other Indian citizen. With this said, there are many Tibetans, Afghanistans and Nepalis come to India for citizenship with the aim to migrate to USA and Canada. So there are opportunists,
Identity crises, no, Tibetan has no identiy crises ! They are originally Tibetan .citizanship crises is there .factually they are indo-tibetan .you are Tibetan who choose to prefer indian citizanship. Constitution of india says those who born in india , are eligible to have citizanship in india . Supreme Court of india gave verdict .
Tibetans are great people but they have failed to understand the fact that non-violence as a tool for freedom struggle has never reaped any success. No amount of international support / representation on Multilateral platforms has benefitted them. They will have to fight for their land.
We have no Problem , on accepting Tibetans as Indian citizens , you are like our brother and sister. But my question is why you are giving up your right on Tibet. We know the biggest blunder by China , and our corrupt leaders . Those who are objecting Tibetans as Indian citizen , they all are our enemy . We will fight for Tibet and it's independence.
Thank you for this insight believe the implementation of the Tibetan Rehabiliation Policy (2014) by the Uttarkhand Secretariat has made many avenues accesible to Tibetans there many of whom have been brought and brought up in Uttarkhand.
none of the North East States are under Indian occupation. All of them have official accords and agreement in becoming part of India, including the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Please we humbly do get your facts right🙏
Living for 3 gens in another friendly country without citizenship is not painful but tiring. They would not even be able to amass economic resources to fight for their country.
This is no identity crisis at all , Tibetan in China are Tibetan Chinese and those who are outside of China ,chosen to become citizens whoever countries they were granted for citizenship, so called Tibetan struggle or movement is nothing but a fantasy
Or it’s also possible foreign countries I have a better reputation than India. India,s image is still that of a poor, post colonial backward country. So getting citizenship here is considered negative and nothing great. Whereas getting citizenship in ´developed’ ´prosperous’ progressive westernised nations’ is seen as something great. As a badge of excellence
