Is Tim Ballard Joseph Smith 2.0? On this episode of Mormonish Podcast, Rebecca and Landon explore the growing observation that Tim Ballard is a reincarnation of Joseph Smith himself.
Many people can't help notice that several of the grooming and manipulation tactics that the female victims are alleging have a familiar ring to them. From using scripture to convince women to do things they wouldn't normally do, to claiming authorization from a higher power, to encouraging secrecy, there are seemingly many similarities and parallels.

When I went to y bishop, about my marriage, they would tell me to stay with him. When the man tried to kill me, the bishop , still sided with him. I had no outlets. I feel very deeply for these women, then and now. I stand with my sister!

Imagine being assaulted and KNOWING if you try to come forward and tell someone you will be asked what you did to deserve it. “But they chose to be there….🙃” everyone with this type of comment should spend 5 minutes educating themselves on grooming and the barriers to reporting sexual assault

I'm crying. Thank you for accurately being able to assess that Ballard could be taking the fall for all those involved, even though he may not know it or necessarily agree with it. Or he may have agreed to it, knowing in the end, he'll be able to wiggle his way out of it in the end, with help from the "church". And you're right, the "church" is on trial more so then Ballard. In the end, God will have the final say. Thank you for understanding the complexity of all this AND SPEAKING IT. You are NAILING IT. Yes, there's incredible evil at the top. There's so much more.

I give no quarter to TB for his vile ways. Yes Father God will judge, but TB will also answer for his despicable actions here on earth. Believe me- Tim had and definitely has freewill 100%. No one with a strong moral character will knowingly deem that the church elders 'made them do it'. That's a copout.

Very comprehensive list! As all this was coming out I couldn’t help but see these parallels as well. Then after hearing the allegations in the lawsuit, I also saw some Chad Daybell similarities. In particular, talking about past lives, women falling in love with him and wanting to kill his wife. That comparison may even be scarier!

I think it is a toss up as to whether the church affinity will help TB in a courtroom, thanks to the statement the church put out attempting to distance itself from him. One of the strongest parallels between JS and TB for me was using psychic vision to find a treasure (valuable items in JS's case and the missing boy in TB's case). They both claimed to be very close to the goal, but then it would slip away from psychic vision. And then more money would be put up so they could try again. And again. And again.

He would say let's go rescue the women and children. And the entire conference would shut down and all of the faithful would suit up for a rescue "jump". People would match up in Ruse couples and practice the Ruse for a week. Then go to Haiti, Mexico and the Dominican Republic and rescue the children and women who were trafficked. All the saints from Conference would Ruse their way to ending all the sex trafficking in the world. Tim would be the hero Apostle. And that would be the sequel to Sound of Freedom.

One thing is for sure. Tim Ballard has made conning traffickers so we can catch them a whole lot harder. Traffickers are going to be a lot more paranoid because of his antics with all this, and aware of the tricks used.

Great... show the traffickers how to do it better to not get caught. I for one believe TB was directly involved in the actual acts he claims he's trying stop. There are folks on IG who have the capabilities to dig deeper than where this podcast goes. Not faulting Mormon-ish, they are great, just saying there's lots more truth to be revealed.

Tim Ballard also groomed - manipulative plan to convince the women = grooming. We can expect he also told them that it's not something he really wants to do, but Nephi told Tim this was the best plan (and M. Russell Ballard agreed).

It's my understanding that a few others did but very minimal activity, only holding hands or an arm around the shoulder. Which actually seems reasonable for the ruse. However, Tim "needed" to take it further because he was the main undercover guy so needed to go deeeeep.

For the Mormon who has never cracked open the Holy Bible: Timothy 4, versus 3-4: "For the time is coming (e.g., 1830) when people (go look in the mirror) will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers (e.g., Joseph Smith) to suit their own passions and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths (e.g., the Book of Mormon)". Not zeroing in exclusively on Mormons, because if mormonism had never occurred; rest assured it would have been something else. People love their sacred cow collective hive-minded thinking..

Organisations that are based on a "cause" will attract people already sympathetic to that cause. Easier to manipulate from the outset and not just sexually, a workforce where their motive to be there is to "save XYZ" not just "make and sell more ABC". They are "primed" to excuse, ignore or minimise all manner of wrong or dubious things in the areas of finance, management and workplace behaviour and conditions that more "output" focussed organisations will have credible procedures and policies to govern these areas. And, if it's a non-profit or charity or religion operating within a minimalist, external regulatory or inspection regime, it's the most vulnerable of all to problems of fraud, harassment, exploitation of employees etc. Whether that happens through ignorance/inexperience or deliberate malice/intent of leadership. We are talking so much about Tim Ballard, and the inescapable parallels to Joseph Smith, etc. etc. No argument there, of course, but what I haven't seen brought up in all this morass, and because of the context this reality is inescapable, that even a number of the current or recent Mormon Geneal Authorities have been implicated in gross "sexual misconduct" as well. For example, a gay man Charles Van Dam in an interview a few decades ago was recorded in a video soberly declaring how some years before, how he had engaged in same-sex sexual relations with Gorden Hinckley on numerous occasions. As Mr. Vam Dam passed away from AIDS not very long after the interview, his statements therefore comprise a death-bed confession. I have heard of other rumors as well. In the end, the whole thing will be found out to be far worse than anyone could have previously imagined.

It's a fact that grooming is transferable. That's why youth worthiness interviews are bad even though not every bishop is a predator. A person that has been groomed is more vulnerable to any and all predators that they may encounter in the future. The church has a really bad record on this. It would be relatively easy for them to start doing better (I mean they are richer rhan God, and the members will swallow just about any excuse that the brethren offer)... they are either too blind, or too proud, or too scared, to start doing the right thing now.

He eventually showed true remorse after a true prophet of God let him know he would have bad things befall him, and after he lost his child with Bathsheba bad things indeed befell him. He had everything and like many human beings became greedy with power, lust and money, and even though he was considered to be a favorite and beloved by God, he quickly learned that wouldn’t be tolerated. That’s why they use the analogy that Gods is like a parent. He will not just let things go when you stray away from goodness and follow the wrong path. Never put any man or woman on a pedestal. Because usually you will have yo knock them off of it. They are humans and humans can be horrible oh Flawed.

I agree with this podcast, thank you. But this is lds gaslighting taught throughout the years at its best. Tim caught on quick. To be honest, all those women in the law suit, who are consenting adults made their own conscious choice to sign up for this kind of sting? Consenting adults? They could have left any time asked to get a ticket for a plane ride home when they were offended at any point in this operation. Just my opinion. When are we going to hold peeps accountable for their own choices? Truth. There are women who would lie to their teeth to get a buck. Not saying they are lying but this is only a civil case? Something to think about. Consenting adults.

Many researchers on IG going after this guy and turning up damning evidence. A jury will decide his guilt or innocence as will Father God in the next world.

I never heard of Tim Ballard until the movie. I didn’t like him from the get go. He looks like a bad sales man. Also, his companion, Jim Carviezel, another one that can’t even cry for real as he describes the atrocities he knew about the person he was impersonating. They parede themselves for some Christians channels, what a shame. JC played Jesus, and now he thinks he is someone special. He is an actor that makes money from his movies, nothing special about that. So is TB, many kids needing his help here, but he goes overseas to help traffic kids? Nope, that is a scheme to make money.

Hey guys I like your channel and I think you put out good content, but as I was listening it felt a little tone deaf. You are talking about Sexual abuse and grooming, which for those who have experienced it, it is very traumatizing. I think it would be good to show a little more empathy for the people who have been affected. It's fun to have some light hearted stuff and laugh absolutely but keep in mind the people who are really affected.

As post Mormons we understand the hurt that comes from being betrayed by the people we trusted most through a false narrative. Everything we stated about Joseph Smith (except the Joseph Smith tattoo) was accurate and is historical and we even provided the references from church sources. If true historical facts about Joseph Smith are hurtful and offensive to Latter-day Saints it may be time to examine your religion a little closer. Post Mormons are hurt and offended by these facts as well, we just decided to do something about it. I hope many others are offended by Joseph’s actions when they look into these facts and we welcome any correction to any of the facts we presented. We appreciate you watching and commenting.

Thank you. Watching and Listening from Alaska. I get that you are highlighting the absurdity of these events but this expression of Schadenfreude is unbecoming. You are treading dangerously close to the behaviors of the 'believers in the end times' celebrating the unfortunate events in the world, and the deaths of those they blame, as good things. Is this the example that you believe is right to set for your audience? People who are looking in on what you all are presenting, especially the outsiders, are likely to find it as undignified behavior worthy of ignoring the facts based on your blatantly unprofessional presentation. If you want people to take this seriously you should consider reevaluating your delivery style.
