Hey Jeep Nation! We had been planning this trip to Disney Oklahoma for about a month and were so excited when the day finally came. We woke up at 4:30 AM to get on the road so that we could meet the group by 9:00.
We were glad to be leaving KC too because it did nothing but rain the whole day. Once we got to Disney Oklahoma it was sunny and 92 degrees. We could not have asked for better weather.
Meeting up with the Lake of the Ozark Jeep club was a blast, they helped us get our camp setup and situated. Most of them had been down to Disney several times so we were able to just follow their lead.
The Ozark Jeep Club was there for a fun event they do each year where they race two obstacle trails and the fastest combined time wins a winch. Not a bad deal especially since there was no entry fee!
We did the first obstacle but took ourselves out of the competition for the second run; it was just a bit to tight for our jeep with the painted fenders.
We got to see a lot of Disney Off road park, including the Couches, The waterfall, the forest and Little blue. Disney ORV park is a gigantic place and even after wheeling for 11 hours; we still did not get to see everything.
The most exciting part was at the Waterfall where we got to see several jeeps attempt the climb. One made it and one even ended up on its side as it rolled over into the water fall. Everyone was OK but it was still pretty scary to watch.
Luckily no one was hurt and we were able to recovery the JK but he might need some new jeep wrangler parts. The Jeep did get some major damage but the owner was able to drive it home.
The camping part of the trip was a blast; we slept through one crazy storm which produced several inches of rain. The greatest part was that the tent didn't get a drop of rain inside. The worst part was that we forgot pillows and the air mattress kept deflating.
We are definitely going back to Disney and we are going back soon!
