That '71 looks so much cooler than the current car. But I'm biased-I owned a '71 Mach 1 back in high school in the 70's. I now own a Challenger, because it looks so much like the original. Loved the styling of the early 70's muscle cars.
Great video! I loved seeing the side-by-side comparison. I have used my 72 Mach 1 as A daily driver for years now. I have taken long trips in it multiple times and it is a comfortable car!
Just a little correction; the body changed for 71 to allow the 429 to fit between towers. Most safety changes came in 73. big bumper etc... Owning a 71 429CJ and a 73 351, I can tell you you're right: no need for a modern boring car! ;) oh and one more thing: it's not a money thing either, it's years of restoration done yourself. When I got them 30 ago, nobody wanted them!
Really wish Ford would do more to bring back the 71-73 mustang body style because it just looks so much better then the modern Mustang. Don't get me wrong, the 2021 Mustang is A tier in the looks department but the 71 is S tier.
Being a 1972 Mustang owner feels good hear you say how much you love it compared to newer awesome cars that i have not been able to try out! 7:28 thanks a lot, amazona video man
I owned and raced a 71 429scj,4spd,4.11 detroit locker Mach 1. The 429 SCJ wasn;t available with AC, the solid lifters allowed 7000 rpm shifts and ford didn't want to warranty ac compressors. The car set the NHRA Stock eliminator national record in 1992 in the D/S class weighing 3785 pounds to be legal at 10.86 seconds 121.88 mph.
I had a 71 mach 1 scj when I 19 ,the scj was a solid lifter cam mine was grabber green identical to the one sold at Barrett Jackson for 176,000 , it was odd mine had a clock instead of a tach which I later found out was a option and mine was C6 auto ,I didn't order the car but saw it the first day the owner who did order it got it, a year later I was looking at 69 428's a came across my 429 SCJ sitting in the used lot at the same dealership it was ordered from (Stengers Ford Dayton OH.) got it for 5,000 1972 sold it for 600.00 in 82 "YDFC", The car was a beast on the streets of Dayton , had problems getting hooked up on the hole shot ,thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Tbh i really love the big size of the 71 mustang and the big curve that goes all the way to the rear of the car I wish this design makes a comeback but the issue that not alot of people liked it and the design was there for only 2-3 years Only thing i dont like or dont prefer is the rear lights The 69 rear lights are awesome also its more beautiful on the front also. If there was a mix between the 2 models of the 69 and 71 a big size of the 71 with the ends of the 69 Would be the most beautiful muscle car
Okay I've been waiting for someone to talk about the beast of 1971 Mustangs that I owned, yea the Boss 351 was hot, but not as hot as the Mach1 429 SCJ not to me mistaken for 429 CJ which pops up 99.9% of the time. The difference between the 429 SUPER COBRA JET W/ DRAG PAK and COBRA JET was the SCJ was a solid lifter cam like the Boss 351, The SCJ was rated at 375hp for insurance, it got air & gas from a Holley 780cfm double pumper carb, pumped out more like 450hp came with C6 auto 3:91 Posi traction 9inch, trans cooler, no air, staggered shocks, I hate that I sold mine after having it 12yrs, I was young, dumb didn't realize how special it was they made 500 SCJs to this day the place I've seen one like I had a real "SCJ" is rolling cross the block on Barrett Jackson sold for 176,000 and no the boss 351 was not faster than the 429 super cobra Jet solid lifter, mine was grabber green with black spoilers
Anyone that says '71 mach 1's aren't great looking is smokin' something. If set up with nice paint and magnum 500's they're the best looking of all Mustangs.
The MACH 1 can back in 03 & 04 not 04 & 05. 2005 was a new platform the S197 and 03 & 04 was still on the SN95 platform. A better comparison would have been the 69 & or 70 MACH 1 vs the 22 MACH 1 just my opinion
" steering wheel is in the other side", pal, that is the side where most of the ST are place around the world, with the silly exception of england and their former colonies.
Never cared for the 1971 - 1973 Mustangs, suffered from obesity and handled like your grandmother's Buick. Of course in 1974 they became a supped up Pinto, god awful that didn't get over it until 2005. Since them they've pretty much lived up to the pony car promise of 1964 1/2 through 1970.
funny most people commend the handling for being very level and steady and nothing like big Buick: If you think about it, with pretty straight leaf springs and anti-roll bars front and rear it would never sway much. Mine has no sway bar in the rear and it handles great and very controllable at highway speeds. that said it is too big to handle like my 10th Gen Civic at slower speeds. Generallly speaking the Mustang was designed for Nascar racing as was the Torino, so higher speeds versus lower speeds zip.
Cars are just cars...they were made to transport cattle...that's all. By the way, my Jewish friends say that if Jesus comes back that they will nail him again to another cross...these are the guys that wear the black dresses, curls and tights...lol.
I think your on the wrong channel but I can see your very confused and misled I sure hope you find the help you need and Jesus won't be nailed to anything anymore and I promise you, you will lose all that anger and hatred when you see him please wake up
