It never matters how hard the band play, and Epica go hard, Simone's voice always has the clarity to cut right throught it. This genre of metal is blessed with some of the best singers and musicians on earth.
Hi Daniel, yes the three cello players are from Apocalyptica, EPICA and Apocalyptica toured together through Europe this year, We saw them in England in February and both bands were outstanding, hearing Simone sing live was mind blowing 🙃 Apocalyptica are three cello players and a drummer, although they had a singer for a while some time ago, most of their music is instrumental, absolutely beautiful and sometimes high energy
Are you saying she's a siren? ha ha: Epica - Sirens of blood and water (feat Charlotte Wessels and Myrkur) music video And if you had a daughter instead of a son, you could show her Simone's cover of the Disney song from The Little Mermaid. 😁 Simone with her voice tone is perfect for voicing any of the Disney princesses 😁
Your face watching this shows the pure joy we all get when we hear this... This song, her voice, the apocalyptica cellos... Everything is just perfect.
@Daniel: The sad thing is that the US music industry ignores everything except US bands or UK bands. So you hardly had a chance to start this journey without your YT channel. The bands are popular here, which you can see from the sold-out halls or festivals. Also, the bands usually get along very well with each other - especially in the metal scene - which is why many great projects are realised. That's why Ayreon is so exciting. It's a project by Arjen Lucassen. He composes metal musicals and regularly manages to inspire the absolute top stars. That's why, for example, "The Day that the World Breaks Down" is such a fantastic start, because the song alone has 11 (!) lead singers. So with Nightwish, Epica and Sabaton you haven't even scratched the surface.
Apocalyptica is a Finnish symphonic metal. Classically trained cellists and jazz drummer. They started in the 90s as a Metallica tribute band. Their first album 'Plays Metallica by Four Cellos' was a big hit and their career took off. They have sold over 4 million albums and they have been regular performers at Europe's biggest metal festivals. They have also performed together with Metallica.
Another germ in the Rabbit hole is the Gathering feat. Anneke van Giersbergen. On most surfaces is a nice one to start with. Anneke was the inspiration for Floor to sing metal. She is the godmother of all those great lady metal front women. Get in there buddy!
What a legendary performance. If I was in that audience I would have been no good after that song was over. Dam that was beautiful. Talk about the power of music.
+ Zora, the ultimate siren! 🤘 Oh and Dianne van Giersbergen oc, absolute killer vocals (tho still a bit too 'operatic' to my taste, think Turja Taroten here..)
Simone is my favorite singer by far! There is nothing that gives me more peace than listening to her sing and besides, Epica's music is wonderful! I recommend you listen to "Unleashed" from this same concert, it's the last video the band uploaded to their channel, and besides there's a song by Apocalyptica in which Simone sings, called "Rise Again" the live version is incredible! Greetings from Argentina. 😊
The boy’s from Apocalyptcia playing Metallica’s Orion on cello’s is amazing and Inquisition Symphony is the most insane thing you will ever see They are Eicca Pertu and Pavo on cello and Mikko on drums Then they play something as beautiful as Farewell composed by Pertu
Hi, I just found your channel, and I'm glad you enjoyed this amazing performance that has been an earworm for me pretty much since they released it. Yes you do need Apocalyptica in your life, they have a lot of crazy good songs with various singers (including one with Simone), I personally love their instrumentals most. They were my first "real" concert 15 years ago and I had the privilege to see them live (with Epica! ❤️) in Germany three-ish months ago. They are something else, and from all the amazing bands I am into, I love them the most. Greetings from your (probably newest) subscriber from Germany, I enjoy seeing people discover great music.
I love instrumentals too, but damn, when they revived the old instrumental song with new Simone's vocals, it elevated the song to the whole new level! Her voice is off the charts in that song. 🙂
AFAS is a concert hall in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with an audience capacity of 6000m formerly known as Heineken Music Hall. Close by is the Ziggo Dome (17.000 visitors) and the Amsterdam Arena, home turf of AFC Ajax and ability to house 50.000 visitors.
He is going forward to Within Temptation, Aeryon, Wintersun, and i'll bet for Iron Maiden, Band-Maid, Lovebites, The Waning, Unleash The Archers, and so on
You are speeding trough a whole colony of rabbit holes or whatever that would be called 😜 more of that please and I would ❤ to see Ayreon and Wintersun added onto the channel 🎊 🎉 enjoy the trip doen those rabbit holes
Hi Arias I absolutely agree with you. The first time I came across Epica was by chance I was looking for some Antonio Vivaldi on utube , while looking at some of the four seasons, the 2 concerto Summer 3rd movement presto in G minor. The photo that accompanied it was of an absolutely gorgeous red haired woman I just had to listen to it I was so astonished by what I heard Classical and Metal fusion. I couldn't figure out what this Woman was doing was she a Violinist. So as I started listening to other songs and Videos I could see that she was a singer and boy what a singer she. Like Floor, for there's no two better as good maybe but no better. Great reaction video.
@@Brodricktucker Ahh ok, well they do a Presto in Retrospect as well, Simone gets a little bit of rest behind the scenes while Isaac shreds on the guitar.
Your entusiasm is contageous. Don't be sorry that you've started this journey late. It only means You have all the great stuff ahead of You. I would give anything to erase the music memory and start blanc again. Nowadays I very seldom check the stand alone videos (I should thouhg to support the bands) since reaction videos gives me a feeling of watching it together. And there's a variety of different reaction styles out there. Some I like, some not so much. You're in the first category. Btw I checked Your other channel and I loved Your take on Miriam Margoyles.
Simone is my favorite singer and there’s really no contest. Something about her tone and clarity just resonates with me in a way no other singer does. Of course I love the rest of Epica as well, this whole band is incredible, but I’d argue Simone is essentially irreplaceable for me, her voice is that iconic. I see Consign to Oblivion being recommended here in the comments, and it is a fanastic song, but is also heavy on the growls. If you’d like a couple more tracks to ease into that style of singing, these may fit the bill: Epica - Design Your Universe (Live Retrospect) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9nlPx-HEpCU.html Epica - Chasing The Dragon (Live Retrospect) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Dx-FsHAQHp8.html
Consign to oblivion is great if you’re into something heavier. The one from Paris is the one to go with. Another great one is Kindom of heaven pt 3 ( or 1) from Omega Alive
If you want Epica at their heaviest, I recommend the Essence of Silence, official live video. It’s also a good introduction to Marks harsh vocals (growls, whatever) and how Epica use his and her vocals as a stark contrast. Here’s the link… ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P6hX5rpEOgY.html
Awesome reaction as always Danielson, Tides of time is another ballad type, I believe written by Rob the bassist. That song shows off her vocals even better. Others will give you the story off that song, you may need tissues.
Welcome to the world of Epica, what an amazing journey you have chosen to embark on 🙂. Thank you for the reaction, im looking forward to all your future Epica Reactions
I was suppose to be at the concert in '22, but it got postponed due to Covid, and I couldn't make it at the new date. Really sorry that I missed it. Apocalyptica is a band with 3 cello players and a drummer that plays metal. They also have done covers from many metal bands.
So nice to see you enjoy my favorite band. I won’t make any suggestion because I love all their music. Enjoy your discovery. I like your enthusiasm. Keep it up and might subscribe. 😉🤘
You Must see AYREON ! It is ft. Floor, Simone, Anneke van Giersbergen e.a. Its a form a Dutch composer Arjan Lucassen ! Also you must see Within Temptation ! Also a symphonic metal band ! and yes al Dutch. Ayreon is an international gathering of band members.
It is incomprehensible why all the pop stars get so much praise. Compare this to "Superstars" Katy Perry singing "Roar" at the King's Coronation concert and Rihanna at the Super Bowl. They are light years behind Simone's singing.
@@jacquilewis8203 Then you've just discovered one of the greatest metal bands ever, and the best in symphonic metal subgenre. 🙂 Can you try these three next? A beautiful woman with beautiful voice sings a beautiful song... It's a hi pleasure, dude! The life is beautiful! Do "Kingdom of Heaven Part 3." Great, great, great!
You seem to enjoy the combination between classical and metal music. If you want to try a different kind of blend between the two genres, I'd suggest reacting to Gamazda. Her skills are unparalleled, the cover of Metallica's "One" is out of this world.
Well, there's one song, again a collab with Shining, which will surely surprise you. Very few metal songs/bands feature a particular instrument... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YiJ5r8cNiq8.html
Talking about sirens ..... watch three ladies with a song by SIRENS called *_"Of Blood and Water"_* : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-svGQ-q9gx68.html&ab_channel=EPICA (Simone Simons, Charlotte Wessels and Myrkur).
I can't put my finger on why I just don't gel with Epica. Simone obviously has an incredible voice, and I do really like this particular song. But there's just something stopping me from feeling the same way about Epica as I do about Nightwish. And I don't yet know what it is. Maybe one day I'll figure it out, or maybe one day something will click and I'll find myself really liking it. I hope it's the latter.
Same here. I do love this song though. Of course NW has raised that bar and ruined it for me for many bands/singers. I feel the same with Dimash. I just can't get into him. Not downing his talent just don't feel it.
I love many Epica's songs, so many growls for me, but the power in the music and sweetness in her voice is what i love the most, i knew Epica for their version of Pirates Of The Caribbean
I feel the same way. Simons has an incredible voice, but for some reason, even though I do like certain songs, I just can't get into the band as a whole. It's not that I don't want to, it's just that I can't. Even with a couple of a very helpful people introducing me to Epica's songs, there is just something that doesn't click with me. Like you, I hope that someday that changes and I intend to keep on trying. I guess that is what makes us all individuals.
SPOILER ALERT: Rivers is not their best ballad. It's probably not even top 3. Just off the top of my head there's Canvas of Life, Once Upon a Nightmare, and what may be the greatest ballad in the genre: Tides of Time. She has the ballad voice. And I mean THE ballad voice.
You can call it screaming. That's just another generic way to refer to harsh vocals. It's very widely used and it not offensive. What IS offensive is to call it screamo. THAT will piss off metalheads. 1) because it has been traditionally used by Americans as a derogatory term for all music with harsh vocals, and 2) because actual screamo is not even metal, it's a type of hardcore punk.
