Multi award-winning singer Sigrid is one of Norway's biggest stars. She's also a huge Eurovision fan. She joins us on the Official Eurovision Song Contest Podcast to discuss her love of the event, her favourite entries of all time and her surprising connections to some past Eurovision participants - including Sam Ryder and Subwoolfer.

The thing why would any huge artist take part or compete in ESC? They already are stars, what could ESC do for them? People would only vote for them because of the name, not the song..

So Eurovision. I am tuning in from other side and bottom of the world to hear from a famous singer I have never heard of before ,discuss groups and singers I only ever listened to for a month in random years from the past. Last year we sent Hair Metal (not so successful) back to Euro Pop Dress ups this year. Learned our lesson. Lov to Subwoolfer , Enchante and all the rest.

I am italian and I am very happy because in may start eurovision song contest 2024. At genuary/february We will find out who will represent Italy. We have got singers very good in competition. Love from italy 💚💚💚💚

Love from Germany ♥ Just checked out the first Sanremo Giovani entries: some great singers among these eight candidates already ... By the way, whenever the contest takes place in Germany Italy returns to Eurovision: in 1983 after two years of absence and in 2011 after 13 years of absence ;-) I guess Germany would never organize an ESC without Italy participating 😍😻

hopefully, other NFs in other countries will have the similar impact to that of UMK 2023; no fear of losing and a maintained guarantee of commercial success even if the artists don't win the selection. artists like her (and in other countries such as Zara Larsson, Stromae, Rosalia, Emma Heesters, Davina Michelle and Rammstein) really deserve to take part in Eurovision some year in the future.

Question is of course if they want to take part? And do they need Eurovision? Zara Larsson has already said not to ESC, so why make her take part? And does she really need ESC? What would it do for her career?

We will see all 37 countries from Liverpool '23 in Malmö 2024 as well, plus Luxembourg, Macedonia and Bulgaria returning to the contest. One more country still in negotiations with the EBU, so stay patient for just a little while ... 😙😽
