We head to Capital Reef National Park for the first time where we do some amazing hikes, see unique geology and do our most technical and tight slot canyon yet. www.johnjessjourney.com
Cool vid! Capitol Reef is one of my favorites of the "big five" in southern Utah. Made me a bit nervous watching those kids ascend that cliff trail even though they seem to have the agility of mountain goats. Great being young.
Stayed at the same campground last month possibly the same site you had for the first night. Really enjoyed the campground and the BBQ. Capitol Reef was such a cool place and the hikes were amazing. Utah is such a beautiful state. Home now dealing with 100 degrees and high humidity in Iowa, need to head for the mountains 😎. Well done video, thanks for the flashback to a great trip.
One of your best vids! Love the drone shots, and Capital Reef is definitely on my list, so thank you for the "preview". You guys are so determined....that slot canyon sequence was amazing...and a honestly, a bit worrisome...I was truly getting a bit concerned that you all might not make it back...you are such troopers to push it all the way. Say John, on an entirely unrelated topic, a question about that collapsible ladder you recommended in your "our gear" page (from which, by the way, I have purchased a few items). Have you had to use that ladder on numerous occasions? And if so, for what reasons? The reasons that I ask is 1) the design warrants a firm, level surface for both ladder pegs to rest on. For example, if you had to rest those two legs on packed gravel, it might be unstable, and 2) the ladder has to lean on the Airstream near the roofline and that could introduce risk for damaging the AS? I guess I could have sent you a message direct, but not sure how to do that with RU-vid. THANK YOU for any response...
Hey Dorsey, thanks for the great comments! I do use the ladder on a regular basis to raise and lower my wifi booster and cell booster antennas on the roof of the airstream. I just lean it against the metal rim that hangs over the windows, climb halfway up and raise the antennas from there. I haven't needed to climb up on the roof since installing those items but it works fine of all that. The airstream is always parked on relatively flat ground and I've never felt unsafe using that ladder against it.
