Great video. A few details. The Lyriq itself didn't have production issues. But GM's 24 NCMA cell battery module (8S3P) that they use in all North American EV's were having production issues. GM could make cells but the company the contracted to automate module assembly had severe issues. For a while GM was building modules largely by hand which slowed all of it's Ultium vehicle production. This is now resolved and GM is now pumping out vehicles. Of note Ultium is a platform of parts. The vehicles are on different architectures. Of note there is BT1 (short wheel base and long wheel base) and BEV3 (SWB and LWB). BT1 LWB is the Silverado EV, Sierra EV, Escalade IQ, Hummer SUT. BT1 SWB is the Hummer SUV. Lyriq, Blazer EV are on BEV3 LWB. Optiq, Equinox EV are on BEV3 SWB. The Bolt EV is BEV2. The new Bolt will continue to be on BEV2 but will be updated with the Ultium architecture parts bin.

Thanks for watching and for all this great info! Very much appreciated and yes I was just generalizing the production slowness and had heard about battery assembly issues. Does not really matter what was the cause of the slowdown in as much as it impacted overall sales and deliveries. Now that GM is moving along at a good clip, should get much better!

Yes that is one nice vehicle. The EV car market sure has been in turmoil in the last few years. I had thought the EV segment would be massive growth with no let up. I think prices are still the limiting factor. Flooding the EV market with more affordable Chinese Ev's would help ,but would really impact the north American auto industry. Thx Ken

@dougabbott8261 I disagree the market is not in turmoil in N/A in 2024. Look at Commercial sales along with consumer sales growing steadily. The pricing in 2024 has come to parody with ICE in the lower price segment in the US. (not sure outside the US as incentives are different) Prices are a limiting factor with EV and ICE with equal weight. Stunted massive EV market growth is weighed down by lack of availability of home/destination charging options outside of the single family home owner market. That is more of a planning issue than a market issue. The N/A consumer is now ready to include EV choices in their vehicle searches. Ken, as a Lyriq owner I found your review to be on target.

@@kelviskelvis7140 Lack of interest in Ev's for a lot of North Americans has had a huge impact on investment by the manufacturers with many reducing or delaying investment.

@@dougabbott8261 Reallocation of some investment to infrastructure supporting the market is more like what we are seeing in 2024. Stainable supply chain shoring up is also taking place. Lack of interest is not driving down the EV market. Given the opportunity and the confidence of supporting infrastructure US consumers do welcome the choice of an EV in the vehicle purchase decision.

@@kelviskelvis7140 Oct 26 2023 Ford postpones 12 billion investment as buyers become more cautious. GM announces delaying production of its electric truck at its Orion Assembly plant until 2025. VW ID7 delayed in U.S. and Canada, citing changing "marker dynamics"namely waning EV demand and it just goes on and on.

@dougabbott8261 Thanks for watching and I've always stated that the EV growth is fairly linear, small increases every year as EV adoption is such a challenge to get the masses educated, that this takes time. Plus more production ramp up needs to happen over this time. ICEVs will be around still for decades.

That doesn't look like a Cadillac! Cadillac has lost it's way. GM has turned every vehicle it has into a truck or SUV. It does not have the distinctive styling that says it is a Cadillac. That thing is atrocious! That thing looks like it was designed by Mary Bara, not a Cadillac designer. Bara and the CEO of Ford should have been replaced a long time ago; neither of them have any ideas past internal combustion engines 👎🏾
