Miami Dolphins on SI Publisher Alain Poupart breaks down a rough day at training camp for the Dolphins offense, the young defenders who have stood out, a major what-if scenario, and more.
Excellent report. Agree that it's much too early in camp to push any panic buttons over miscues. The offense typically takes longer to gel (timing) than the D. Connor Williams also had issues with shotgun snapping accuracy but he was able to improve that over time. As camp continues, I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts on Patrick Paul's progress with the learning curve.
Thank you for your reporting on the o-line and the great article on SI. I totally agree that the o-line seems to be the biggest concern for the offense. I commented the same about the o-line on yesterday’s show with Dave Hyde. I truly believe that a good/solid o-line is not only the key for a successful offensive as whole but for Tua’s progression as QB1. There was a clear distinction in McDaniel’s scheming and play calling last season when the starting o-line was healthy and playing, compared to the dozens of o-line combinations of starters and backups. Doesn’t look promising this early in training camp with no clear starting guards or solid depth. Just hope they figure it out soon.
It would be fun to have a series, playlist to keep the episodes handy to listen to, and just have a "deep dive" on a topic. Whatever that topic is. Just an episode like this. It would be nice to *learn more* and get some of those personal perspectives, but also just have a reminder of what was for fans who aren't local or weren't around!
Because it was definitely the bigger area of concern, it’s nice to see that the defense is looking really good. Not only that it seems like we have a good amount of depth in the secondary that is performing well.
Nothing matters unfortunately… as long as mr limited is qb, we are doing nothing but wasting time and talent. Poup knows this, he just can’t flat out say it
Lol okay... he's only 36 in the top 100. All the players think he's one of the most elite qbs.do you think wilkins sucks too? Cause he was a no show against all the good teams. But ya this isn't a team sport so your right. ..
Yes, Poup is correct regarding Flo’s mishandling of Minkah. But I can’t help but mention Flo’s horrible handling of Tua. I’m sure having Tom Brady, the ultimate pro’s pro spoiled Flo. Still, no way the Minkah situation is remotely as damaging as was his open disdain for Tua. IMO, defending Flo is questionable..as Poup inferred, Flo’s defensive coaching acumen couldn’t override his penchant for arrogance, and lack of people skills.
Alain, how come you have me blocked on twitter or "X". I don't ever remember saying anything upsetting or any reason to get blocked. You're the only guy who covers the Dolphins who has me blocked. I would love to follow you on "X". I promise I won't do or say anything to have you block me.
