Hi Kate! Enjoyed your podcast this morning from Ottawa, Ontario. It is really lovely to see your making plans using all of your lovely Ontario purchases some of which I also really enjoy. For January I am knitting a few things: a scarf that I designed for a knitalong for my small community knitting group, a couple of chemo hats for a dear friend and casting on a new sweater. I am also working on a couple of quilting projects. Thank you for your podcast. ❤

Good morning from Belgium. I really enjoyed your vlogmas and your regular vlogs. My only plan this year is to enjoy everything I knit, crochet or sew. I know myself enough to know that it would give me to much stress and every time I finished a project, an other comes along, or I get a good idea from vloggers like you who share their beautiful work. Take care and see you soon. Lieve

So happy to see you on again! I have cast on a sweater (Chic Knits Eden), moss mittens and a pair of socks using the helical method to use up leftover yarn. I usually only knit one thing at a time with maybe a pair of socks on the go always. I am really venturing out of my comfort zone. On top of that I have the Marianas’ scarf in time out till my eyes get fixed.

My knit group and I are knitting mini sweaters (ornament size), one each month in 2023 - any design, any color, whatever each person wants to make. We may attach them to a wreath next December, or hang them on the tree, for example. Personally, I'm planning to knit a pair of socks a month, too. Enjoyed the podcast! Happy New Year.

So happy to see you back. My January will be filled with several WIPS. And yes, all kinds of things. I have a passion for everything. The main one right now is a BERRY DIPPED SWEATER pattern by Little Golden Nook in Robbins egg blue Brava tweed from Knit Picks crocheted. It is for my great niece. I'm also working on another crochet project, no pattern , blanket using 18 colors per request, for a friend. I've got a knitted hat in progress for our church Ruth's Boutique, ( giving our neighbors a hand up program) and a knitted infinity scarf for my choir director. I have a few other projects also. Those are quilts. Keeping me busy for sure.

Congratulations Kate on 10k subscribers! Very well deserved. So lovely to have your podcast and making to look forward to. Like a visit with a friend. Seems strange since we have never met and I have not commented often, such is the way of knitting podcasts and the knitting community. I am making a knitted Christmas tree skirt which I started many years ago and am going to get done this year. It is called the Scandinavian snowflake tree skirt by Nicky Epstein. I would love to make something from one of my many magazines so will have to look and decide so I can join the Mal. Thanks for being you and sharing with all of us.

I am impressed with the variety and number of things you are taking on for January. If I have more than two things on the go nothing gets done as I get too distracted. My focus this year is to knit largely from stash. I don't have 12 individual skeins but I have several sweater quantities that I truly want to knit so that will be my focus. If I can decide on the patterns I will be in good shape.

Hello Kate! Happy New Year! Your socks are beautiful. The yarn is the perfect color. I hate e-magazines! I live in the country and it’s easy to take a knitting project along anywhere but it’s not fun hanging on to a smart thing that has your magazines on! Yes you can print it off, but ink is expensive and along with paper, and the electric… in the end it’s cheaper and more convenient to just by a magazine. Oh and we call lucky dips, grab bags here in America. Congratulations on your 10k plus followers! YOU ARE AMAZING if you didn’t know by now! All of us 10K plus know so!

I am also rereading the book 😊. Unfortunately I do not have a lot of stash to participate in the Lucky Dip KAL. I do have a few magazines, so maybe I will have a go at the other KAL. Hello Kate, thanks for your podcast which I quite enjoyed. The weather here is miserable and I’m not at my best so you helped me get through the day. So far forJanuary knitting, a friend asked me to knit her a vest with yarn she has purchased. I don’t care for the yarn, but she’s a good friend so there you have it. I really like the Terrazzo Vest, but I don’t think she will go for it. Other than that, at least one baby knit using colorwork is the plan. Stay well , Eileen

I am getting back to working on a Marie Wallin all over colorwork cardigan that I started last August. I had put it aside for holiday knits. After picking it back up a week or so ago, i found a big mistake, which I’ve corrected, but it required lots of ripping back. I started a pair of socks over the weekend after taking a class on the afterthought heel. I also have a Habitation Throw on the needles for when I need to rest my mind. I’m using minis that my sister and I swapped so I’m calling it the sister’s habitation throw. A friend just had a baby so I might cat on a blanket with a couple of skeins of fingering weight yarn from my stash held double. Trying not to get too many wips going…. Really want to finish the cardigan before summer. It’s slow going…

What is involved in sock blocking for you? Do you pin them down on the blocking mat or do you just hang them in one of them metal things? I actually don't know what "sock blocking" means. I wash and dry them. Is that blocking?

Sock blocking is pretty much washing and drying them but on one of the metal sock blockers shaped like a sock . Not as necessary as blocking is for a garment but I like the initial look 😊

My attention span the last few weeks has been so poor that it literally took me three days to get through the entire episode (lots of overwork and REALLY not enough sleep)... definitely NOT due to the content. Beyond finishing my Papillon booth sample for Fiber Stash, I have literally NO plans whatsoever. I want to finish my WIPs, but I have no ambitions or plans beyond that. I've kind of been operating on a lucky dip principle since I started picking up knitting again, just pulling things out of stash, and finding a project for them, to get them out of stash. I have so much stuff I bought (much of dubious quality) when I was first starting to knit. I'm trying to overcome my acquisitory compulsions when it comes to crafts. Now if only I could figure out where I stashed my big bag of minis!
