Oh Kate. This video made me so nostalgic and a bit teary. In 2009 I drove that very route with my Mom and we had such a wonderful visit. We stopped where we wanted, had tea or lunch when the desire struck, and made some lovely memories together. Your footage made me miss Ireland and my Mom. Lovely knits and footage of the sea. I loved the view on the road from the car....very much reminds me of my own Dad's road to his home place. I haven't been to Ireland in over 4 years....missing it so. My Dad is nearly 96 and I don't think he is able for another trip although he would love to go. Breaks my heart a bit. We have many lovely memories, he and I of traveling together and visiting with all our family.

I was so excited to see dolphins in the Chesapeake bay alongside the bridge I was on, I had to really concentrate on driving because I just wanted to watch them the whole time! Glad you got a couple of days on your own to relax.

Gorgeous place you are staying. We went away last weekend too and my boys went fishing but I stayed back and knit. It was raining and blowing a gale most of the weekend so staying all day on the jetty getting wet wasn’t on my agenda. Got out for walks along the beach in the weather breaks. You certainly had more peace though and more scenery. ❤❤

What a brilliant podcast Kate! Stunning scenery - loved the dolphins what a wonderful sight! And I think so many of us crave just getting away on our own if only for a few hours, to knit in solitude. You’ve been keeping me company while I knit my “distraction knit” while I escape from the lace section in my first Love Note - I won’t tell you how much reverse knitting I’ve done on this already! And then you bring out your Habitation Throw - which is exactly what I am knitting! I began a HT about 18 months ago and gave up out of boredom; I was using lots of left overs and getting fed u0 making yarn decisions. This time I’m making a baby version using Lang Mille Colori Baby which is a soft, variegated merino fine yarn very soft almost like being held with mohair actually, and I’m loving it because, as you say, no yarn changes, an easy peasy pattern you don’t have to follow, just do a yarn overs round every 10 rows or so - I’m not even counting! Heaven! I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay, have a lovely peaceful time ! xxx

Think I might be heading over to HC as I fancy doing a crochet or knitted blanket. I do prefer natural fibres, as at the stage of life where I need breathable fabric 🙁. I wonder if you could see Scotland from your perch up there! I know that on a clear day we can see Ireland from the Mull of Galloway, and also even the houses on the sea front on the Isle of Man. The scenery and coastlines are so similar to here. You were very lucky with your weather for your retreat. I was also pleased to hear you say the gorse smelled like coconut. People often look at me as if I’m bonkers when I say that. I was beginning to wonder if only I could smell it. I think it must be only certain types of gorse that smell that way. It smells like Hawaiian Tropic Suntan oil, and takes me back to Majorca in the 70s! 😂 Love the terrazzo slip over, (added to my queue), and that Women’s Institute yarn looks amazing. I’ll be doing a search for that. You are right, it looks perfect for every day wear, and would be great for children’s wear too. I look forward to seeing that knitted up. Gorgeous colour. 💕

I love the WI yarn. But the label on the one I bought said handwash even though it was acrylic. I machine washed it none the less and my jumper grew widthways. Just giving you the heads up!

That’s so frustrating! To be honest, I remember having to work a couple of times on this cardigan too. Keep at it though because it is so worth it. Definitely my most worn knit of them all😊
