Congratulations, Kate, on 7 years 😊. My plans for this year are to keep persevering with sock knitting. I've made 3 pairs so far on 9-inch circular needles, but I really want to use dpns and also to tackle magic loop. I've been knitting for over 40 years and feel so pleased that I've finally cracked sock knitting. I enjoy your podcasts and look forward to every one. You always give me the inspiration to keep trying. Thank you again 💓

Wow, Kate! Way to get your sock mojo back! That studio donegal yarn makes me drool - especially the dark green. My knitting plans for this year include attempting to finish a fingering weight colour work sweater. I will tell you - it's not a quick knit. I would likely make better progress if I didn't always have a pair of socks on the needles as well.. But, we all have our addictions! Thanks for podcasting. I've seen them all.

Such a calm and cozy podcast Kate, your socks are all lovely. 2024 for me is all about conquering colourwork socks, I've had a few fails (too tight!) and am currently knitting a Winwick Mum pattern called the Treasure socks but going up to a 2.75mm for the colourwork AND increasing that part of the sock to 72 stitches. It will probably fit a giant by the time it's done😅😂. Congratulations on 7 years of podcasting.

I have a very tiny foot for an adult, but then I am only 4’8” as well. I knit my socks with 76 stitches using a 1.5mm needle. So comfortably warm and cozy sock and I have never worn a hole in any of them. I am still wearing the first ones I made for myself, which was probably 20 years ago, so they hold up really well. I also knit socks for my son, husband and other family members on the same size needles. Depending on their shoe size I will adjust the number of stitches, but love the density and durability of the smaller needles.

I have knitting for years but never socks. But this year I finally caught the sock knitting bug. So this episode is personally very meaningful to me. I absolutely love seeing all of your socks. My knitting plan for 2024 is a good one - 1. Knit 6 pairs of socks 2. knit 1 color work garment 3. frog the projects I no longer feel joy, without the guilt. Life is short. Enjoyed your company Kate whilst I knitted on socks also. My plans are a festival or two , starting with EAYF and really to knit what makes me happy this year . I really do want to make an effort to use up much more of my stash and have a sort out of any I no longer want to hold onto . If I didn't buy and more yarn at all this year (and that won't be the case) I would still happily have plenty of choice from my stash and there's a lot to be grateful for in that .

So good to see you again, Kate. I enjoyed the podcast and seeing all your socks. My plans for 2024 are a bit subdued as I get repetitive strain injuries in my right hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder, so can only knit or crochet for short periods of time. However, I'm about to start a new crochet blanket, which will take a few months, and the Felix sweater ((having seen yours the other day), and there is always a pair of socks on my needles, usually just vanilla socks, but maybe I will be a bit more adventurous this year having seen all your lovely socks.

My plans for 2024 is to be able to knit colorwork sweaters. During the pandemic I knitted the Golden Fern sweater by Jenn Steingass. However, I’ve bought a few more of her patterns and the charts are more complicated. I also want to be able to knit the Tegna sweater, which I was not successful in the past. Thank you for sharing! Thank you for another lovely episode. My plans this year are to try and complete some of my many wips. I seem to have started quite a few crochet blankets and would love to finish them up so that we can use them xx

Delighted to see you again after Vlogmas! I can’t resist buying beautiful hand dyed sock yarns but I have accumulated a boxful! You have inspired me to join you in knitting some Crazy Sock Lady patterns. X

Well done, Martyn, you're getting there. We need another 'improvers' session! I like your new spindle (but I think a bit of wood glue to reattach the whorl to the shaft of the one I lent you would have been a cheaper option 🤣🤣) After a month of spinning and improving, are you feeling brave enough to spin and draft as you go without the 'parking' bit??? One of the comments here suggested a wall hanging - I'm imagining a fade up from the dark grey at the bottom to the yellow at the top. It would be like a sunset above a stormy sea. A grellow wall hanging! What's not to love??☺️ Give me a shout anytime you want a bit of help. Keep up the fantastic work and well done for encouraging so many of your viewers to start spinning or get back to it. Glamorgan Guild is always there for help and support too 😊

Lovely to see you again Kate. My aim is to knit some dk socks this year for some boots that are just slightly too big. I also want to try Studio Donegal yarn as I spent some happy holidays there (near Ardara) and one side of my husband’s family came from Moville, as you said the scenery in Donegal is (without exaggeration) stunning. Happy knitting and thankyou for a lovely podcast. Xx

Hi Kate! I found you during Vlogmas and am still catching up to finish those episodes but couldn’t resist checking out your new episode today! I love your plans for 2024 and agree that Kay writes amazing and clear sock patterns! I also love your lucky dip kal and will be pulling some skeins out this weekend to participate this year. Otherwise, my main knitting plans are to use more yarn than I buy during 2024 and to enjoy what I’m knitting! I also took 2023 off of podcasting because of life and have noticed a shift back to obsessive knitting so far this year and feel so inspired to make all the things!

It is always lovely to watch your podcasts Kate!! Never, ever feel bad for putting your self-care above social media -we all luv you and wish you the best, always ❤. I am currently working on Irish Hiking Mitts by Karin Kaye. I am using Malabrigo Rios and am on my 2nd pair lol. There is enough left over from the skein that I am working up a simple headband to keep my ears warm using the same motif. Being in Central Illinois US, it gets quite cold here in the winter. Last week, we were at -15F (Which is -26C) I hope the coming year is good to you and yours. Bright Blessings Kate!

Hi Kate, I've only just found your podcasts. This No.53 was so enjoyable to me. I found Kay Litton a couple of years ago and I also find her sock patterns wonderful. I've purchased other sock patterns but I always come back to Kay's patterns. I felt quite at home looking at your socks. However I haven't tried Kay's socks with the pattern going up the front, but I'm really enthused by your socks, so I'm going to have a try. I can see why you love the Studio Donegal yarn. What a beautiful green. I'm living in Central Victoria in Australia and you would think with all of the sheep that we have here that we would have many Yarn Stores, but that's not the way it is. Here in Bendigo we have the Bendigo Woollen Mill, their wool is very simple. Nothing like the lovely dyed wool that I see on RU-vid prodcasts. I look forward to seeing your next podcast and some more socks. Thank you. Rhonda

Fun episode! I enjoyed your Vlogmas. My plans for the year include some weaving (I want to cover a lampshade with a family tartan), knitting a sweater for my daughter, and I just finished combing and blending some Corriedale and alpaca for a sock spin-along. Not enough time in each day! Have a great end of week.
