I just want to let you know that I enjoy all your podcasts. The loving interplay among the family members is very touching, and makes listening to and watching the podcasts very fun. (And, of course, I love all the quilt-talk). So here is my question - of all the patterns each of you have designed, which have been the most popular?

As someone who loves to follow my faves on various sites from Pinterest , to blogs, to websites, I think a tip would be don’t have so many ads on say your website that your visitors get lost in them . When my friends and I find a site we love we share them. But not any of us keep going back or share if there are so many ads that we can’t keep track of why we are visiting. And we will keep going back when we love a website.

Great episode and great information! I hate to bind quilts, doesn’t give me joy. Then my quilts just sit on a shelf until I feels, ok it’s time this one is finished and crossed off my list. Once I was able to get someone else to bind one quilt. I just don’t know of anyone that loves that part in Connecticut. I would love to connect with someone.

about a year ago i saw your live trunk show with Kimberly on the FQS. seeing all of these beautiful quilts and hearing the stories of them, really sent me down the Sherri & Chelsi rabbit hole. i went a bit nuts collecting your previous fabric collections. i now have an extensive collection of your fabric lines from Creekside to Emma. i purchased ALL of your books and several patterns. i spent so much time shopping and hunting for these hard to find fabrics my sewing fell behind. eventually, i realized i had gone overboard. i have shelves full of your fabrics and enough to make several quilts out of most collections. but., like you said in this episode, i have had to give myself permission to not buy every time i come across an OOP fabric. it is hard and i sometimes cant resist, however i am trying to be content in sewing up these beautiful fabrics and will, at some point, pass on the prized collections i have curated. once i have sewn what i want. 🧵🪡

Well lady if you already have the longarm and are currently using and know what your doing - what do you have to loose? You already have the investment of the machine and the training and knowledge of how to use- why not try it and see how it goes. Just take on a few first to see if you enjoy maybe?! You don’t want to take joy away from your quilting by feeling pressure. But maybe you will truly enjoy seeing others quilts and being able to be a part of their quilting journey 💕

Tula Pink had a great quote about quilt sizes. She said she keeps making the planned blocks for the planned size until it isn't fun anymore. Then, that is the size the quilt ends up being. If it stays fun or it is for a specific purpose, she completes all the blocks. I loved this. I really gave me permission to stop when I just didn't like something, it was too time consuming or too hard, or the value just wasn't there.

I totally understood the learning to say no because I was caught in that situation recently. I was originally asked about making some burp cloths and it turned into me getting some sweatshirts and asked to make them into a blanket. I agreed because I felt bad saying no but I had never done anything like that before. I held on to those sweatshirts for a few months before actually doing anything because I had that feeling of dread. While it turned out pretty great, I learned a lesson.

I learned from a friend a long time ago to have answers prepared in advance for a variety of questions. This way when someone asks if you could do something you can say no without hemming and hawing. This has saved me at the office when they want you to work after hours, a neighbor or friend asks you to make a quilt for one of "their" friends babies or hem their pants. People are bold in asking you to make them things once they know your own a sewing machine. It's gotten to the point that I don't even show my friends my latest quilt for fear of them asking me to make them one. So have your answer's prepared in advance❗❗❗

Sherri, Chelsi and Billy, I Lol. Binding is the one thing I really dislike about quilting. By 2019 I had 17 quilts that just sat waiting for binding. Then I met a lady at a local quilt shop and she changed my quilting life. Her husband is a truck driver and works long hours, she binds to keep herself busy plus it gives her extra income and she is great at it. She will do all sorts of different techniques if you want. I love my LAQ (long arm quilter) and my BA (binding angle).

Hearing your story on the plane and mentioned the orthodontist…In Fremont, Nebraska there was an orthodontist who was also a quilter along with her sister. The orthodontist office was very large. They took the back side of it and made a quilt shop! The lobby of the orthodontist office was very large and when they would have classes they would set tables up in the lobby (when orthodontist office was closed). They are now retired and I miss that shop.

Thanks for a great episode. Loved the business talk section but was also overwhelmed. LOL I feel that I'm so not good at communicating my gifts to the world. I also came back to quilting after a 20 or so years of hiatus due to life as a homeschooling mom. This homeschooling journey is nearing its end, sadly as it's been the best journey of my life so far. So I started up with my quilting hobby but it's not where I would want it to be...I need people to do this hobby with but I'm still too busy to pursue such.

You mentioned back to school. I am happy to say that I have my son for 1 more year at home before sending him too Kinder. I am also SUPER HAPPY to say that I am retired from my business (family childcare). I've put in my time 23 years. More time for quilting and my little guy gets his mom back all to himself. --- I must not know how to use those pins. It seems like every once in a while, they bend on me too much. So, I prefer the Dritz flat head pins. The ones that have decorative heads. They are just as long and do not bend. Just my preference. Chelsi are you ok.? Or is it just me.?

There is a responsibility if you employ others. Or they expect insurance companies maintain policies they dont make payments for. On a smaller scale it is always smart to know what you do with money. Must be profitable and not spin your wheels or get in trouble with the tax man.

As a subscriber I can tell you, you are 100 percent right. Be consistant. There is nothing more frustrating than following and subscribing to a channel and they say we are doing 2 videos a week and you follow them for 3 months and they vanish. 3 months later you get a notice they are back. Video says " Sorry. we got busy" . NO, that's not ok. I was invested in your journey. Tell me you are going to take 3 months off or you aren't sure this is what you want to do. I worked full time while raising 3 children and I didn't just not show up to work for 3 months then appear again and say sorry, I got busy and expect to carry on as usual. I think if you are on Social Media you should treat it as a job or say up front this isn't a job, it's only a hobby so don't depend on me being here when I say I will. I get discouraged about following new people that aren't tried and true. It is different if it is an emergency that happens. Just like it would be with my work.
