You should haven't have cut the wire, rather you should have cut the foam down and put another hog ring near the rear of the seat. You can already see the wire starting to poke up near the rear where you cut it. @20:25. You even notice it so much you're trying to push it down with your thumbs.

Didn't show it, but I am pushing down to establish if I need an additional hog ring there to keep that wire from poking.

Great video what about the small wires in the burlap, Do you need those?
@AutoRestoMod
@AutoRestoMod 3 года назад
The wires are what keep the seat base and back the correct stiffness. You can use other products but that is what the factory used.

why the ignorant music stupid interfacing with the older guys, YOUR not a comic, Stick with what you know, Lose the music, You have good knowledge and should not be destroyed by that moronic noise and distractions. Can't hear you over the percussions

Bill...FYI, that video is over 8 years old. And we have changed our way of doing things. At that point I was two years into my rocky school of self taught video production. We've changed. SO give the newer videos a shot.

Could you give an estimate of the amount of denim, batting and burlap you would need to recover both front buckets and the rear bench seat and back?

Yes, we really like them. Would love for them to release a lumbar kit.

You missed the two biggest tips. 1. Put the new vinyl covers out in the hot sun for an hour or more, to soften up the material A LOT easier to work with. Also, let them sit in the sun once done, then work the vinyl a bit more, get the lumps and wrinkles out. 2. Use a plastic grocery bag, or better a dry cleaners plastic, pull over your foam rubber, and the vinyl will SLIP right on easily...

Awesome video instructionally, and entertaining as well. I have completed half of my seat restoration with your 3 install videos alone. You saved me lots of money! You might want to mention the 3M adhesive for the denim in video 80 when attaching the top of the bun as I started with video 80 instead of 79 and missed it. Thanks again you all are great

TMI has a superior product line. We use them when we can on all of our builds.

I called TMI and they said add about 950.00 to standard price of vinyl seat covers to add leather. This does not include an y foam padding upgrade, etc. So we will be getting leather for our 67 Camaro SS build.

The expense would be in the leather and getting them made. Your best bet for doing this cheap) is to find a You-Pull_It salvage yard and just keep trolling for seats; you may get lucky and find what you need. We'll be doing a show on re-coloring leather very soon. Otherwise you'll have to get a trim shop to build the seat covers and install them. Average cost for leather around here would run about $1,000
