Larko this is top shelf content for every motor sport fan. World class content for a best is in class motorsport series. Now I understand how you guys get the racing so close. Just brilliant. Well done you & the V8SCs. Love the production values too. Can’t wait to see how they compete and on track performance.

Good video, I’ll take a guess at the ‘IP’, or more to the point ‘governing’ the engine that has higher output in original form... ... with a supercars sealed ECU they could do various re-maps to lower the output of the ‘better’ engine to suite the other engine’s ‘as-is’, could even be done with the throttle-by-wire map... (can match the torque curve exactly) hopefully the engines still have wide-open throttle, otherwise that great sound might be compromised. Yes some more audio of exhaust!

I'd like to see it become a big block series of sorts with current engines. The Ford 7.3 Godzilla against the GM 6.2, both pushrod engines with plenty potential. As far as parity goes, these have electronic throttle bodies which can easily be controlled to limit outputs. Gen 3 still has no official start date and looks like the same old defunct Holden commodore will run again for next year. Come on lads, get it together.

Only thing I’m not sure about is the quad cam vs single cam. Does the quad cam end up having less stress on it in that area or is it more suspect to failure due to more parts? Should be interesting seeing these engines in action next year and great that they are in some way related to what many have in their own cars
@alanjm1234

Given that both have their outputs and maximum rpms artificially limited, there's probably no real engine advantage to either architecture, but the quad cam Ford engine will have a higher centre of gravity.

They may well use a F-150 intake manifold to get the mid range torque (+480ft/lb), otherwise the Coyote will be in a powerband above the LS, and zone that Supercars don't want to be in. I understand the potential frustration from this, but I don't call the shots on it. I just chose to watch.

Why not use NASCAR blocks , heads and cranks and let the engine builders develop them with bespoke con rods, pistons and valves?. Also, race engines should rev. I’m the early 90’s they were already approaching 9000rpms. These engines should be revving to 10000rpms and have CRs of 13-14:1. The materials and parts already exist to achieve this.

BTC has some of the best racing and has heaps of manufacturers. Rules are simple but allow for different cars, power plants and which end drives the car. By having differences it allows each car to gets around the track differently and makes for great racing. Some are better through corners and some are better in a straight line etc. They use a weight handicap to give every one a chance of winning if they are a good enough drivers and they get different cars winning each race and round. They also allow a bit of rubbing, which Supercars frowns upon if you scratch another car. They can't all be Jim Richards! Parity racing is so boring across the planet that motor racing is losing audiences everywhere. Look at the GT racing for great racing with different cars and you see racing, passing and drivers driving to the advantage of each vehicle. We had group A and got rid of it because it didn't fit our Holdens and fords well. So get over it. Why are we so hell bent on American muscle when every kid wants to drive a BMW, Merc, Audi, Lambo, WRX, etc. European and Japanese, and soon Korean and China. God forbid!!! The only guys I see driving Mustangs and Camaro's are old farts like me, but like many old fart, even we have moved on to Euro cars. Supercars has no chance in getting other manufactures. Like another comment, they didn't support Volvo, Merc or Nissan, because the guys running Supercars can't get on the modern band wagon. The world is changing, Supercars, so you need to change as well or you'll go the way of the Dodo bird as well!

They've just dumbed it all down too much for the lowest common denominator fan. I've had to do alot of digging over the years to find out in-depth stuff about these cars.

@@doug-core8850 And at the end of the day they’ll nobble the Ford to appease the GM teams and fan base, because Holdens are the best bro.

No the longer they take, the better it will be in the long run. They shouldn't have tried rushing this in the first place or it would've been a non event just like the switch from cotf to gen 2. Nascar are taking their sweet time bringing out the next gen car and its a very good thing. Only they're being alot more open about all.

so basically they have taken a relatively modern tech engine and crippled it to perform the same as a prehistoric push-rod engine

Pathetic they are just shy of 500 kW, I hate this type of concocted formula racing. Let the teams build there own engines so the better engineers win.

Ever wondered with just 2 engine builders KRE building the GM engines and Mostech building all the ford engines there is no variation in torque curves and fixed power outputs the only overtaking is when 10 cars slam the brakes on into the first lap corners there be less cars in the field. It a stupid formula they not have the different vehicle characteristics to make more overtaking ! Get real supercars it’s boring enough now
