Had my 2-car garage coated last year using the polyaspartic method. Workers started at 8:15 and were done the same day at 1:30 PM. Waited 24 hours to use. Was expensive, but came with a 15-year guarantee. Definitely the way to go.

Polyaspartics do not have as good as a bond to concrete vs epoxies, a lot of small companies offer a lifetime or 10 - 15 year warranty, not worth the paper they are printed on.

You should look into being a dealer for Penntek. They have a less than 1 day dry polyurea product thats got a lifetime guarantee with 15 year warranty. Much more flexible and durable than regular epoxy! You can't buy it in stores and its not cut with any thinners. 100% polyurea. You can also install in very hot or very cold Temps down to -20°. Highly recommend!!

Looks good, how come you didn't fill the control joints to make it a seamless system? You would also get better coverage on your coating and sealer if you used a larger squeegee and laid a bead on liquid on the floor and spread it out by following it with the squeegee.

You did a great job! I noticed that you did not extend the Apoxsee floor beyond the garage door. Smart move. Our installers took it all the way to the asphalt driveway, so they cover the entire concrete garage floor. Now the Apoxsee that extended beyond the garage door is chipping up. How do I stop it from going any further? How do I clean up the remaining Apoxsee that is on the garage floor beyond the garage door to create a nice line? I have tried to get people to come out to fix it. But they have said that the job is not big enough and unless I want to replace the entire garage for it’s not worth they’re doing it. So how can I remove what’s chipping and how do I prevent it from going any further? But I would appreciate any ideas because this is a problem that I believe could be fixed.

Tim- This is beautiful work! Two questions though...I live in Pittsburgh, PA, with cold winters and snow. Lots of hills here and road crews use a great amount of salt and calcium chloride on the roads to keep them from icing over. So first question: Will this product stand up to road salt and calcium chloride? Second question: is there any risk of hot tire pickup? Thanks-
@TimDCVA
@TimDCVA 4 года назад
Thanks! We haven’t had any issues with them holding up to road chemicals here in VA. Hot tire pickup is not a problem for high solids epoxy & polyaspartic urethane (assume it is prepped correctly). Some lower solids/thin-film coatings from local paint stores don’t do as well under tires though.

We had a floor put in at our condo last week. There are bubbles everywhere. The installer say it's normal, from the gas release. In general, do you believe bubbles always need to be fixed or it depends on reason such as if from gas release or too thick of a coat. Thanks Tim.

I got quoted $70 a sq’ for my 3 car garage. That’s enough to make me go it on my own. I’m just fearful of the working time of the product and not being able to get it perfect before it starts to setup. I’ve thought about working in sections up to the expansion joints. Most polyaspartics don't seem to have that much working time. Any time i've used them you have about a total of maybe 10 minutes to squegee it out and back roll it before it gets too tacky and starts leaving roller marks. Whats the working time with your polyaspartic? I know if i rolled any of the polyaspartics i've used as much as you do in the video, i'd have roller marks galore.

How lond did it take to make the polyaspartic resin lqyer before it cured? Is it still useful to work with (is it still thin) after e.g. 30 minutes?
@TimDCVA
@TimDCVA 3 года назад
30-45 minutes of working time. Cures overnight.

Is the final product slip proof if it gets wet?
@TimDCVA
@TimDCVA 4 года назад
That’s a tough question to answer because “slippery” is subjective. Our customers usually like the texture of the floors. I think they are a good balance between being easy to clean without being too slippery.

Do you have a dedicated angle grinder for the edging or can you get right up tot he walls with the grinder you show in the video, Tim? Thanks!

It gets close enough in some areas... but we do have a hand grinder for tighter spots. You can see the grinder + dust shroud + hepa vac that we use here: www.amazon.com/shop/timdcva?listId=12B07NXHDBW92

I would do the poly, but they don’t the cool color options that epoxy have, like the marble look, or a water look, or the the metallic look of copper, or silver etc…. The color choices for poly suck.
@tomman1718

do you have to grind, if its a new home?
@TimDCVA
@TimDCVA 4 года назад
Yes. The grinder creates a rough profile on the concrete which helps the epoxy adhere to the floor.
