How to know if you are developing an allergy to epoxy resin and what to look for #epoxyresinsafety #epoxyallergy #tumblermaker #resinallergy #epoxyresin
Im working in construction with epoxy floors as kind of an expert of most plastics. I would honesly recommend you to never ever use epoxy again because it can start hurt your lunges, even just by being in the same room as epoxy. The allergy is also permanent and wont get better sadly. If you didnt already know this ofc.
I just developed a reaction on my arms in my hand and my face from the poxy and I just started selling my stuff. I am so disappointed and I hope I can get through this. Thank you for sharing !
Hi!! I am so sorry that I am just getting back to you! Buy I just wanted to let you know that I just posted a video about to safely use resin with an allergy! I hope it helps!
I’ve heard that Hyperion is amazing! As long as it is used correctly epoxy is safe to use. I do use crystalac though and do a lot of sublimation tumblers now
@@TheColoredUmbrellaobviously you weren't using it correctly if you had a reaction like this. Epoxy resin allergies are extremely serious, and can lead to reactions around common materials like vinyl and plastic if you aren't careful. This is a serious health issue, and not just a one time inconvenience.
Covered in a severe reaction right now 😢 it started small last year, but after a couple exposures (symptoms getting worse each time), this is it for me. I got a bit on my 2 fingers & I washed right away! Woke up with blisters on those fingers & now, by day 2, I have hives on arms , breast, face. I’m done with epoxy. Be careful everyone! ❤ (edit to say… I have had it still effect me, even though I was wearing double pairs of gloves!)
I did epoxy flooring for 4 years and I have the EXACT same symptoms as you. I have gone through the wrists all the way to the face swelling. I just used that 2 stage tube epoxy from Walmart, I was barely around it and I’m currently a pumpkin.
Same thing in happening in the fingernail industry…the gels and a rustic nails women use is start8 g to cause horrible allergies…I got an allergy after a few months of using acrylic then gel did the same…. I think these things are related. Don’t get your nails done…good chance you would have a reaction. They aren’t telling people the risks at all. Can be very dangerous.
Can I ask what sort of masks you use? And other safety practises as I've developed a reaction, struggling to open my eyes, my whole face is itchy and horrible
Hi! I am so sorry! I somehow missed a bunch of comments! 🤦♀️ I am so so sorry you had a reaction! It’s seriously the worst! How are you doing? I have a few videos about resin safety and have a free safety course on my site going over everything that you need to know to safely use resin and the products that I use
It’s happened to me twice now…sooo yeah 🤦🏼♀️. I absolutely don’t want to give up my resin business! What type of protection do you use to try and prevent this? 😢 Thanks!
Hi! I am so sorry I am just seeing this! I actually have a free safety course on my website and I outline everything that I use! I use a full face respirator mask, liger gloves, arm covers (if I am working with large batches), have my windows open, air purifier going and after I am done doing my epoxy I always make sure I wash my hands really good!
What precautions do you take other than wear gloves & a mask? What type of mask do you wear? Is it just the breathing in of the fumes or does it have to touch your skin in order for you to have a reaction? I'm asking because I woke up yesterday with the start of what looked like hives on the left side of my face after working on some tumblers the day before. It progressively got worse and I went to the ER. My breathing isn't affected, just my skin. Thanks for sharing your story.
Hi! Oh my goodness I am so sorry that I somehow missed this! Are you still having problems? That is exactly how mine started. It’s never been a breathing issue for me and is always a skin reaction.
@@TheColoredUmbrella I ended up on an IV of antibiotics then some strong steroids. Fully recovered now. Took a few days to start clearing up. I make sure to wear gloves and a mask and keep reminding myself not to touch my face. I've not had another outbreak, thank goodness. That was really scary - the left side of my face actually drooped a bit which caused concern for a possible stroke! I wasn't prepared for that but luckily, it was just skin irritation.
OMG! I developed allergies from uv resin, after years using it!😢 And now no matter how I protect myself, it’s like a nightmare!🤦🏻♀️ I don’t know what to do! I went two different doctors and nothing helps!😱
Hi!! I am so sorry that I am just getting back to you! Buy I just wanted to let you know that I just posted a video about to safely use resin with an allergy! I hope it helps!

Hi!! I am so sorry that I am just getting back to you! Buy I just wanted to let you know that I just posted a video about to safely use resin with an allergy! I hope it helps!
Oh no!! I am so sorry! Isn't it just the worst!? I had like 250 cups I had to make and didn't know what was causing the reactions so it just got worst and worst! Its so much more common than we think too! Definitely not talked about enough!
Ive been wanting to do tumblers but had no time for it. Then I got pregnant so slower down alot now my baby is a few months and i want to start but im scared of uhohs and im breastfeeding.
Hey I am also having allergy from epoxy resin as I am a qc chemist so I come in contact with epoxy resin and i am having scars on my hand and also on my face and also make my skin dry . So can I quit my job or not Because I have worked only for one month and now this is my second month going on so can I quit my job
Oh no!! I’m so sorry! That is where it started for me! I have a free course on my website all about resin safety! It’s so awful when the allergy happens! But luckily if used correctly and safely you can still work with resin!
The same exact thing happened to me. I’ve tried non toxic. No difference. I’ve tried with a respirator, gloves, smock , goggles. Same response. What else can I do? Pls help
Hi!! I am soooooo sorry I am just getting back to you! It was the holiday and then I got super sick so I wasn't able to work at all and am getting caught up! I am soooo sorry that happened to you! I totally understand the frustration! What kind of reaction do you get?!
Hi I had my shower regrouped and bathroom floor with epoxy I possibly developed reaction to it Very large swelling under one eye Both eyes are effected Blackening skin there etc It was three months ago Now that it hardened , can it still cause allergy ?
Hi! I am sooo sorry that happened! I totally know how you feel though! It’s so awful! Once it’s cured you are totally fine! It’s just when it’s not cured that you will have an issue.
@@NonnaBerter Unfortunately there is no way to cure an epoxy allergy. But once your epoxy has fully cured and hardened then you won't have to worry about having any reactions to it luckily! Its only when it is in its liquid uncured state that it will cause a reaction.
@@NonnaBerter It sounds like your reaction is pretty severe. My really bad initial reaction took a few weeks to go away. I ended up going to the dr and he gave me a topical steroid cream for it. Also aquaphor helped a ton! I would slather it on my face! Benedryl helps as well. Try not to touch your face and just give it time to heal. Its the worst though and I am so sorry! Let me know if you have any other questions! I am happy to help the best I can.
Do you know how long the gasses stay in a room? I started having bad reactions to epoxy so now I use a full cover face mask. That works great. But I epoxied a cup last night (my eyes were fine this morning). I went into the room this morning to check on the cup without my mask and now a few hours later my eyes are red and swelling. 😭
Oh no!! I am soooo sorry! I totally feel your pain though. It is seriously so frustrating! Once the resin is fully cured there are no more gasses in the room. Make sure you clean up any spills. You may also have some dust from sanding? That always gets me! Do you have an air purifier?! That is for sure a must have and makes a huge difference! Let me know if you need any more tips!
I'm having an allergie reaction right now. It also started with a little bit on the glasses. The doctor prescribed a medrol cure. It's day 3 and spreading on the arms as well. How long will it take to be rid of all the bumps and redness?
Hi!! I am soooooo sorry I am just getting back to you! It was the holiday and then I got super sick so I wasn't able to work at all and am getting caught up! How are you doing?! It took about 2 weeks for mine to fully heal. They were pretty bad though. If I get smaller reactions randomly they take about 2 days to go away if I put hydrocortisone and aquaphor on it and that helps a ton!!
@@TheColoredUmbrella Hello ! Don't worry, I'm happy you got beter and wish you good health. I was given a cortisone cream and allergie pills by my dermatologist. It did take a whole 10 days to get everything away. Nights were the worst, because the itchiness would wake me up and I had to reapply cream all over m'y body (it spread till my feet before the meds kicked in). The other bad news is that my artwork didn't fully dry 😑. I hope your video and my experience will help others to be more careful with resin. Happy holidays and be careful ♥️
I'm having a reation right now from either the resin, new brand just started using it, or the strong super glue I'm using I noticed my eyes and nose burning when using the super glue so I'm not sure which or if it is both this is my second reaction and I used both products prior to the reation it feels like a chemical burn. Both arms have a rash,my whole face is swollen, red, and burns and itches. Using benadryl with no to little help with it
Oh my goodness I am sooo sorry that I am just seeing this! And that is what happened to me! I get hives on my arm and my swells up! The best thing to do would be to go to a dr so you can find out what the allergy is. When you do use them I would recommend PPE
Hi! I am so sorry I am just getting back to you! Unfortunately you will be allergic to all of them. But luckily you can still work with it with an allergy. Just make sure you wear a respirator mask, gloves and have good ventilation and an air filter if possible. I have a free safety coarse on my website that I go over all that and show all the things that I use.
Hi! I am so sorry! I somehow missed a bunch of comments! 🤦♀️ I wish I could say yes but all resin is the same, including UV resin. Once it is cured though it’s all good! It’s just when it is uncured
