Steve Gadd, iconic drummer, is so far in the pocket he is in the next room. He seems to play like this these days. I like it, and I like the other faster versions. I am a drummer of 55 years, and jam to both styles. Both super to play to for different reasons. This one so soulful.
Deep in the weeds for non drummers. He seems to be playing horrible plastic 5b sticks. Those are so heavy that one ends up with that feel. I am a 7a guy. Ginger Baker was a 7a guy. Far faster sticking. Let the sound reinforcement make it loud. 5b very heavy, typically used by metal guys. 7a a jazz weight. The lightest, I think.
