A female friend of mine produced 3 cuts on a compilation album with Eric Clapton, Adele and Michael Mcdonald. She is the daughter of someone who at one point was a household name and she's parlayed that into carving out a stellar career as a producer. During the Clapton session she was forced to ask him to play something slightly different that was a bit out of his zone. After what seemed like an eternity he responded, "Sing me what you want me to play." She did, he did and all was well. About a month went by and she gets a call on her mobile from a UK mobile number. She anwers, "Hello this is ****, whos is this?" "Oh hello luv it's Eric. I just listened to that track we did last month. Wanted you to know you made the right call. Keep your pecker up because you're a good producer." Her reply was, "Thank you very much, I appeciate your vote of confidence. Btw, you're a pretty good guitar player yourself." After what seemed like and eternity again Eric suddenly burst out with a hearty gut laugh and said, "You're cheeky and I love it. Talk soon, Luv." She says he calls her about 4 times per year since. She's very much in demand now and gives him all the credit.

Cream was an awesome group not only for the 60s IMHO, far ahead of their time. Ginger was a monster one drums, Jack a wizard on bass, well, and Eric, you all know, just a god on Fender guitar. Eric Clapton is a gifted musician. Probably one of the most gifted that ever lived. But he's a despicable human being . He has used women for many many years while using drugs. Even while not using the drugs. Even after he got clean he thinks throwing money at the problem and opening an elite rehab center on an island only for the elite, fixes the years of damage he caused. Trust me, many of his fans worship him but many know what a vile insipid pig he was & It wasn't just a case with George Harrison's wife it was so much more than that. And yes, I have room to talk, I'm in recovery I used for years myself. I never came close to doing some of the things that he did I never even thought of them. YOU AND ME BOTH. You know how crazy everyone became when the Beatles showed up in 1964? Cream created the same impact with me that the Beatles did for everyone else. Beatles were good, but it was pop. The Rolling Stones created Satisfaction in 1965. I thought that fuzz tone on the guitar was really cool and the Stones were the coolest band, not the Beatles. Cream broke the mold and created progressive rock. Disreali Gears just blew me away. I too Thought Eric Clapton was really something. Psychedelic rock, acid rock was invented. Cream had as big an impact on rock music as the Beatles. And then came Hendrix. What can I say, he's proof that there is life on other planets and that he was left here by mistake. lol

I was 12 or 13. Had a Monkeys album and somehow I came across Disraeli Gears. Still trying to remember how I got it?🤷🏻‍♂️. After hearing this album went from teenybop to the real thing! My younger sister got my Monkeys album! 😆. Cream got me into music. Played in a lot of high school rock bands in the early 70s because of Eric Claptons influence.

Cream. Best trio that wasn’t really a trio. Wish more of the videos would line up with the musical timeline. Not the 80s/90s stuff. I think he was at his best in Cream. It pushed him to play better.

I hate the saying "Clapton is God". He is not God. He is the penultimate player of many era's. His skill and style are unmatched. He is a fixture and fixation. In the top three for sure. Hopefully he will see that GOD has given him many, many gifts and such influence. Love Blind Faith and when he later joined with Steve Winwood to tour with.

Derek and The Dominos, Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs, is my humble option the best album of Mr. Clapton's career. Like him, dislike him, it doesn't matter. As a work of music it has to be in your top ten of all time.

I think it's from the 24 Night Definitive Box Set. I don't know what the name of the song is, but it's definitely from the 24 nights run, so check out the box set and you may find it. The conductor is Michael Kaymen (spelling may be wrong on that).

The film is good except for the anachronisms. They explore his work with the Yardbirds or Mayall interspersed with videos and playing from the 80s and 90s. Clapton’s canon of recorded music is broad enough to play music from the era you are talking about.

His style during Cream was a bit more freewheeling, wild, and interactive. He reacted to the great rhythmic diversity of baker and bruce. In contrast, later rhythm sections sounded dull, boring. I think Eric had more fun with Baker’s rhythms.

Big Bill Broonzy is cited WAY MORE often by English musicians than by American ones where he is far down the list of players who are admired here. Not sure why unless he relocated or played there early on. yeah i just checked that's the reason!

@@tiffanyroseangeles34 the slow hand has nothing to do with which hand he uses though . He was given that name in his time with the Yardbirds when he broke a string , he took a long time to change it out and they nicknamed him Slowhand . That's been documented by the then lead singer .

Paul was upset some years after John's murder. His friend Carl Perkins stayed with Paul one time and a song came to him during the night he had to write it down. He sang it to Paul, " think of me now and then my old friend!" Paul broke down in tears. John had actually said that to him the last they spoke. 2023, the new Beatles song comes out. I've listened to it a few times, and then I had an open eyes moment. You think what you like, for me, this was a song of love for his best friend, Paul McCartney! Paul has wanted to get this song out for 30 years. Maybe he doesn't think like me that John wrote him a love song. I do not mean like a Gay song ( no offence intended to gay men). I mean, a song in which a man says to his best mate, I love you, mate ! Not im in love with you. You may disagree, fine that's ok. But for me, this is a song from John for his best mate.

I would think that Buddy Holly was influenced by the hillbilly music that arose from the eastern hills of Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee etc. and the on coming Rock and Roll.
