805 N 6th St is definitely Ernest's house. If you match up the houses in the background and that curve in the road when Chuck drops him off with Google Street View you can still tell. I'm sure the ice cream cone and stuff Ernest had outside were just film props lol
This film, "Ernest Goes to Camp", minor scenes in "Ernest Saves Christmas" and "Ernest Scared Stupid" were all shot in Nashville. "Ernest Rides Again", "Ernest Goes to School", and "Slam Dunk Ernest" were filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia. "Ernest Goes to Africa" and "Ernest in the Army" were both filmed in South Africa.
That bank was used for the exterior shots. The interior shots were in a studio, no doubt. The prison interiors were obviously inside the actual prison, but the bank interiors feel and look like a movie studio to me. Poking around online, I can't find which studio they used. I'm from Nashville and have been in that bank years ago with a friend. The inside of that bank is nowhere near as big as the room they use for the interior bank scenes. I love the first 3 Ernest's so much. Camp was my favorite growing up, but now as an adult, I think Jail and Christmas are 2 of the greatest movies ever made. Good, clean fun. Where'd those movies go? Answer: Down the toilet with the rest of society.

The sound stage is located at 6737 Centennial Blvd in West Nashville, off Briley Pkwy. I just worked there last month and there's Ernest posters in the lobby hallways.
The filming locations list on IMDB had a bank on Church St incorrectly listed. I submitted the right one (Bank of America, 4405 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205) and also submitted a request to delete the other one. We'll see if IMDB is any good at keeping that info correct. My work here is done lol.

Are you sure about 805 North 6th Street? I’m in Nashville and was just over there. The curve in the street looks right, but the house have changed almost beyond recognition. Of course, 30 years will do a lot, but I still wonder. Thanks for updating us about the bank address!
