"My goal here is to have a vehicle that can handle big storytelling, big immersive musical experiences and trans-media experiences, that each time it happens it’s big enough and loud enough that it moves people to think a little differently at times."
In this episode, Tom DeLonge of blink-182 and Angels & Airwaves discusses the guitar learning process, the emotions he hopes his music evokes, and why he values his relationship with Ernie Ball.
String Theory is a web series from Ernie Ball that explores the sonic origins of some of music's most innovative players.
Tom DeLonge relies on Ernie Ball Paradigm Skinny Top Heavy Bottom strings. You can find them here: ernieb.al/2ExjPJi
When playing acoustic guitar, DeLonge chooses Earthwood Phosphor Bronze Medium Light strings, which you can find here: ernieb.al/2ky6FlG
Watch additional episodes of Ernie Ball: String Theory here: ernieb.al/1QtdTx9

I was bullied in middle school and ended up moving schools. I ended up meeting a guy who became my best friend. He played guitar and was OBSESSED with Blink 182. We would play every day and my life totally shifted to nothing but music. I was so heavily inspired by Tom Delonge and Blink. Now years later I’ve bow been playing professionally for over 4 years and do over 200+ shows a year and am a totally different, more confident person than I was when I was getting bullied. Everything I have that’s good in my life is because I picked up a guitar... Thanks Tom. You changed my Life

It’s really just crazy how humble this man really is me how much he really understands music without even taking any kind of class or anything in production kids now a days need more people like him so they don’t doubt themselves and there music capabilities

blink-182 is the reason why I play guitar since I was 16 with my Punk Rock band . DeLonge is a real inspiration to me, on my guitar skills, lyrics and some other stuff ! I really love that man. Blink-182, Box Car Racer and Angels & Airwaves are so so good !

Invisible Parade has such a beautiful feeling to it. I really hope he does something with those demos, they're too good to be forgotten about.
