During the Toronto Allstars game I met Ernie coming outta work with the major sports team in the elevator. We walked and talked for 20 minutes. Had a picture and great conversation and ended a restaurant recommendation. Class act gentleman and honored to have be able to share a laugh with him.

Ernie is one of the best on television and for TNT. But he is an even better human, that speaks volumes. Congratulations on such a great honor and we are grateful to get to watch him.

Ernie Johnson Jr. Has been part of my life for along time. He doesnt know that, that hes been there when I was a kid growing up thinking that I'd be in the NFL or MLB while watching the NBA and loving the game. He was there when I injured myself and ripped my labrum off my hip. He was there when I had my surgeries telling my I would never be allowed to go on with my dream. He was there when I started rehab and had to learn to walk again. He has been there through the ups and downs. So I am grateful a caring, loving funny guy is the face of NBA broadcasting. I hope he continues to be here for along time. He can teach us all something, even just here for a little bits at times.

This is why I love basketball. Sports have a way of uniting us all under a common cause of competition and mutual respect. In this we can all learn a lesson on togetherness and unity.

Ernie is a true professional and a legend in the business. We are lucky to have been able to watch him over all these years. Honestly I could watch a whole episode of inside the NBA that was just people telling Ernie stories and talking about how great he is.

Its often hard for anyone who didnt actually play in the NBA to get respect from the NBA players and community as a whole. Especially when your job is to talk about the NBA. I think guys like Ernie and Craig Sagar earned that respect in part to who they were off the air. Class acts on the air, and even classier off it. There are most certainly others who fit that criteria, but Ernie Johnson is a part of the NBA as much as any player and means just as much. Hes one of those rare examples of people who value being a good person in everything they do. I think Shaq said it best when he talked about what he wants to be remembered for, which is being a good person, that when people think of him, the first thing he hopes they remember him for is being nice, kind hearted, giving and ultimately a good person. I wish more people in this world had that view. You cant take anything with you after this life ends, all thats worth leaving people with is good memories and good deeds.
