This reminds me of another group from the same era with similar type of music , the band was called OTTOWAN and they had a few hits " Hands Up " , " D.I.S.C.O " , " Shalala Song " , " Help Get Me Some Help " , " Crazy Music " , " T'es OK " . Ottowan are a French group .

Boney M was basically a European creation (actually Germany) although the members were from various Caribbean islands. Precious Wilson and Eruption were from south London and actually lived near me back in the 70s. The two groups' similarities are unsurprising as they were both produced by Frank Farian, for whom neither originality nor musical integrity featured high amongst his priorities. Eruption's sound was quite different before Farian got involved and the group were not all in favour of the changes. I don't know for a fact but it is very likely the background singers sound the same on this as on some Boney M tracks because they are the same. The song was originally by Neil Sedaka and was one of the records I used to play on our gramophone when I was a kid. From memory, I think it was probably the B-side of 'Oh Carol' but it was the side I played most, probably because the kid in me was attracted to the "Choo choo train" line.

I beg to differ. Boney M were just 2 singers and Farian. Eruption was hired to be the backing band of Boney M live and recorded with Farian the tracks. Basically Boney M was (in the beginning) Eruption+Farian+2 singers. Farian tried to persuade Wilson to become the 3rd singer in Boney M even recording a Boney M track with her, but she refused.

Actually Boney M was just a studio project and the singer on the records were only Frank Farian and Liz Mitchell. I grew up only a few miles from where Farian started. @@borisbrosowski6630

'Eruption' were introduced to German producer Frank Farian who booked them to work with 'Boney M' as their backing band, and as their support act on Boney M's initial European tour. Frank Farian then signed them to 'Boney M.'s 'Hansa Records' label. Their disco version of 'I Can't Stand the Rain' proved to be popular, giving them a UK No.5 in the charts. They had another successful single with their version of 'One Way Ticket' (UK #9).'

The BJ says how the song was formatted out - it’s the Maurice White Boogie Wonderland beat. You can sing boogie wonderland to the beat.

Another great song by them was Go Johnny Go. Sung by Kim Davis who replaced Precious Wilson. She died shortly after recording it. A brain haemorrhage
