Welcome guys to this years recap ^^ I honestly loved this years songs, it was so diverse, very unique and the contestants were fantastic. That being said, the results in many parts were kinda meh, I agree. But before anyone shittalks Loreens win...look at the material. She absolutely deserved it! The song (!!) was very good and we all know Loreen is a fucking powerhouse. Therefore: No "conspiracies" why Sweden won (no, Loreen did not win cause the EBU wants the contest to be in Sweden for ABBAs 50th anniversary😂) and no hate. You obviously can dislike the song and have other favourites, i also rooted for many other countries :)
Love this take! The songs were so good this year, and I think that makes the results much more painful. But ignoring results, such a fun time. I have zero attention span, but I actually watched every single performance in the finale for once
Thank you! I'm so tired of the whole "it's Abba's 50th anniversary" conspiracy theory, as if anyone really cares. 💀 Bottom line is it was a good performance and, honestly, a good song albeit a bit generic.
Honestly Swedens song is probably one of my least favorites it just sounds so..... generic also I can barely make out the lyrics of the song because of bad sound mixing and the voice I do hear doesn't sound that good to me I don't wanna trash on it but I just didn't like it at all
Lets be honest Everyone was robbed due to this Eurovision final being basically: Sweden vs Finland (vs kinda Norway) That's where all the people's votes went and thats why so many other countries didn't get the score they did
Aint it like that every year?😂 Final is a competition of 26 songs and not all of them speak to the majorities. There are always few songs with the highest potential that get the highest scores and the rest gets the scraps. After all… someone has to be 10th, 15th, 20th and even last. It’s s competition after all.
Somehow everyone was robbed in this competition except for Sweden. (Mimicat was absolutely murdered, and what did you do to Germany, you sons ofjackals) I guess this means this was a good year and everyone did well. But I'm still not at peace with Sweden winning.
I mean it's still cool that we got to experience all the amazing acts this year, but the point phase felt really off. The atmosphere of everyone slowly realizing that Sweden is bascially getting all the Jury votes and therefore kind of giving up is so saddening
not to mention, france. thsi year they actually had something good at she was treated like dogshit the juries are so ugh mimicat absolutely slayed and so did lord of the lost, but oh well not everyone can have good taste
That's probably the problem though. If there are too many good acts, all of them will be "forgotten", and the points will be spread out more. I do agree some of them needed more (Germany, even France and Spain which I didn't even like, also Norway) but there were others who "stole" their points.
Germany was amazing!! It was such a great song and performance and every sound that came out of this man's mouth was delivered to perfection. I adore it and would've put it in top 3 for sure personally
I respectfully disagree. It's been 2 years already and Jendrik with his dancing middle finger are still in my heart. But they did deserve more points even if this year wasn't my taste
@Amira well, I think Eurovision is not level for Ramstein. They're too famous and other contestants have no chances. Germany's losing has only one reason, Lord of the lost supported Russian artists
Exactly, it's those songs that make Eurovision what it is. It would be horribly boring if all the songs were straight out of top 20 most played on radio
As a portuguese, once i saw portugal wasnt going to win i was rooting for finland...its not my style of music and it still manages to get me hyped and the impact was crazy. Loreen has an amazing voice, i just wish the music was different...it isnt bad, in fact it is very good and thats the problem. Its the basic overdone type of good. For me, france romania austria belgium, ukrania and portugal ofc deserved a lot better
As a spaniard, I loved Mimicat!! You should be SO PROUD of her!!! She deserved better, but I feel so happy I could enjoy her music. She warms my heart with her song... ^^
Yeah the way I summarised it to my family was I can marvel at the technical skills in Loreen's vocals (I sing soprano and alternating short high notes with long notes takes lots of control in breathing etc) but I felt nothing special for the lyrics or the instrumentals since I go for more unique sounds / messages etc. If she did something on brand but with a different element, hell even some more alternative themes for the lyrics, I'd probably enjoy it more. Even if it wasn't fully my cup of tea I'm happy for her win and I wish it didn't come with such toxicity
finland, germany and france were my go-to if portugal didn't make it on top 1. they deserved so much better. malta was also a good entry this year imo tbh my first listen to loreen was just like "woah, she has a great voice." and that was it. the song didn't speak to me, she's just a good singer. given the other participants entries this year her win kinda feels unfair but oh welp
Even as a Swede I was a bit disappointed since I was rooting for Finland. I'm glad we won but idk, it kinda feels a bit false. Then again, Heroes also won due to the juries and that song is now iconic. Our songs are almost always jury favourites and it's definitely not our fault, but maybe the EBU should reconsider its rules or give the juries less power.
Dont worry guys, Finland is playing the long game. Tatto is going to be on all the radios for the first two weeks, but when the summer comes, its going to be Cha Cha Cha all the way. 💚💚💚
For me a total "slay" moment in Belgium's staging is when he sings "remember when they tried to break us, well, look at us now" and the camera gors to the LED screen where Gustaph and many more people are facing the camera, giving a lot of strength amd empowerment. I love this image.
as a spanish person i apreciate, but we knew we weren't going to win lol i personally don't even like flamenco, but still love the song. i think it's a mix of the beautiful vocals and a bit of patriotism? having said that yeeeeah we were robbed
The entire arena screaming "Cha Cha Cha" was my personal highlight and for me, it can't get any better than that. Excited to see what next year will bring. XD
Anyone else notice that käärijä almost wacked his head on the wire while running around the box? It doesn’t show in the is video but watch back the video of the full song and watch when he runs around
personally i feel like older winners (NOT older participants, just the previous _winners_) shouldn't be allowed to participate again. They'll always get nostalgia+safe votes from jury and audience and i feel like it's just wrong of a country, which has so many talented new and upcoming artists, to resent the same artist. i also felt this when Norway resent Alexander in 2018. it just feels wrong to me edit: i am AWARE more winners have retried again. and like i said: i PERSONALLY also didnt like that! i feel like it's a cheap choice!
As a Norwegian I 100% agree. While Rybak didn't do all that well in the final, he finished first in the semi. You can not tell me that that wasn't just because he is Alexander Rybak. The song was rather subpar, especially compared to his win. Yes, "Tattoo" is a good song. However, it does very much feel like a worse version of "Euphoria". It will always rub me the wrong way that Loreen, who did not need to win twice, got the trophy. Especially in a year with so much variety and new faces. Finland was robbed of its deserved victory.
I NEEDED some appreciation for the AMAZING performance Spain gave this year. I'm not the tiniest bit patriotic, but I do think Paloma delivered flawlessly and was not given enough recognition because that song was fucking hard.
I think it’s because people can sing along with every other song, but hers is just SO hard and technically difficult to sing that people didn’t connect with it the way it deserved. (But every voice teacher should use that performance as an example to learn from because she’s AMAZING.)
I hope this helps - I'm Australian and thought Spain's performance was wonderful. It was so beautiful and mesmerising. Certainly top 5 for me, and definitely deserved more points. I can somewhat understand the public's experience - they couldn't really participate in it as they could other higher scoring songs - but I'm floored by the lack of points from the juries.
+ her name is SHE + traktora + Iru's chigiliglinchin :d + Pow pow pow powweeerr + Hello? Game over! (bitch) + BRIIIIDDGGEEEEEEEESSSS + Hey, what you sayin'? Do you wanna dance? + Eaeaeaeaeaeaea + Be good, do good, look good + Ee viii daa mannt + We're not your dolls! + Ciutooo tutoooo + Don't wake up, wake up!
I think you should also have mentioned the face Loreen was doing every single time she received the 12 points, it looked like she was going to fall asleep so much
My favorite song was Norway, Switzerland had the best lyrics, Croatia was the funniest, Finland should’ve won, Germany Portugal and France deserved WAY better, and Czechia had the best staging and choreography
Australia deserved a better public vote but voyager took it like legends and besides Australia never gets a good public vote often for the fact it’s not in Europe but they killed this performance
The best we did was 2016 with Dami Im but that was actually a good performance. The song, lighting, stage, costuming, everything, and we came 2nd for a reason.
This is the weirdest day of my life being both Loreen and Kaarija's fan 🤡 I wish it happened in the 80s with no internet but sadly I wasnt even born then
Waited a year for this video and Eurovision, was not disappointed and was disappointed as well. Latvia not qualifying had me crying, and they needed just 3 more points. There were amazing songs, but some which didn't deserve the final. Sad moments, but also happy moments. Cha cha cha, Áija, Carpe Diem and Portugal (forgot the songs name) were my favourites. Not the best Eurovision but I'll never forget how dramatic and fun and iconic and freaky was it. 😄❤️
Went to semi 1 and was in a macdonalds after. These Israeli guys came up screaming ’You wanna see me dance?’ And we were all screaming yes. Then he just went ‘Unfortunately I cannot dance.’ And walked off! Nearly killed me I swear. I was in bits 😂😂😂
Because everyone voted for Finland 😂 That's why the jury abolition makes no sense to me. In theory, an act could earn every single public vote except for those of their own country.
Idk, people need to pick up the phone to vote and they probably just liked another song better. I think both Sweden or Albania had a similar audience of loud vocals and drama, and Spain didn't connect enough with people. I can see the quality of the song but it just stresses me out so it's not even in my top 10.
1. Blanka winking so much like her face is glicthing 1.2 Bejba it's kinda krejza you don't need me there, just put me on the screen 2. Where did Albanian red tissues come from and where did they go? 3. Käärijä dodging the black rope 4. The large tongue in the background shadow 5. Loreen's crazy long hair and nails 6. Germany having a guitar-keyborad instrument thingy 7. Bojan "licking" the camera 8. The dancers on Croatia's LED screen
2. Idk if you're actually asking but they have pockets, you can clearly see them taking them out and putting them away again. If you're just asking as a joke, please disregard this answer.
@@thespankmyfrank during the performance i thought they would just stick them behind a belt so you'd be able to see them when they turn. Probably this expectation made me wtf. Haha.
I just love Moldavia's, Estonia's and Czechia's performance. I also like Sweden and Norway (Norway was amazing), but I think that three countries deserves so much more. They're underrated. Cyprus also sang its song perfectly. Greetings from Poland, the country of BEJBA
This year's eurovision was sooo good! I enjoyed every bit. Not everybody can win sadly, but hopefully they all get the recognision they deserve as some of them only started their careers
This Eurovision is full of robberies, I just turned off TV and went to sleep when the winner was announced feeling salty and disappointed like... I've been happily waiting for Eurovision for 1 year to be let down like this. Judges votes shouldn't weigh 50%, it should be like 25%-75% proportion. Bcuz Finland was the winner for many of us remember how the audience went crazy during the performance and voting announcement? Btw people who voted must get their ears cleaned asap cuz 5 points for Spain? For real?... And so on, France, Austria etc
SAME just turned it off and went to sleep, such a letdown. In my mind, this year doesn't have any individual winner; the contest itself was fun - best crowd, host city, interval acts in decades.
Agreed!! Honestly, after listening again I kinda liked Loreen's song more but even then I still think our green-sleeved king deserved the win. People were SCREAMING "cha cha cha"! It was a much fresher sound too. Also, justice for Germany and also songs that included ethnic elements (Spain, Moldova)
I’m Albania’s performance I could only look at how fed up her brother looked. It was fucking hilarious. He looked like the very straight brother dragged along to pride parades who’s fed up of getting hit on by all the gay guys as much as he takes it as a compliment.
@@s0of As I understand from comments elsewhere it's a Moroccan gesture for like "eh whatevs" - though she can't _possibly_ not have known how it'd appear to most. kinda troll move ngl
Internet, please don't hate me, I have a genuine question. Why did everyone love Finland's entry so much? Absolutely no hate intended, just sincerely curious. Was it just because Käärijä is sweet and funny and the number is really weird?
He's admitted himself that his singing technique isnt very good, and the lyrics of the song are pretty much about drinking and partying. I thought his performance was very entertaining, but compared to some other entries, I personally don't get why he's the favorite. Again, no hate intended, I'm just genuinely curious cause I really don't get it😅
I personally just really fell in love with the studio version from the get go. I think the reason this song got so hyped was because if you love it, you're going to love it after the very first listen. If it's not really smth for you, it's not gonna be a song that grows on you that much :) But yeah, his crazy performance and funny personality definitely also really helped haha
@@SimonAT. when I first saw his UMK performance in February I was scared and was like wtf I'm watching. I couldnt get the hype at all. After a week with a song and on my 10/20th listen it grew on my and I absolutely adore him and the song (this coming from a Loreen's fan, just saying)
I get an instant serotonin boost and I feel like I'm at a party (except when I actually go to one I hate it). Many people relate to the lyrics, only being able to relax and have fun around others with the help of alcohol. And the performance is so Finland.
@@sabrinarosas3365 Since the lyrics are in Finnish the message of the song might not be as obvious to everyone. But in actuality it has a lot of different nyances that me as a Finn picked up quite fast. It isn't just a random party anthem to everyone who listens to it even though it is a very fun song to dance to. It might not be as polished as the typical radio friendly Swedish entries or other very talented entries but I don't think it was ever intended as so. Beyond the show itself Käärijä and his team worked extremely hard this year from the get go. This past half a year he was really out there building a brand for himself. He attended a ton of different events and interviews around Europe and in Finland to make himself known and just to spend time with people. Not to mention his social media team who produced a ton of content for people to watch and follow him around. He was even given a sauna truck that the team parked in Liverpool where random people could go and try the Finnish sauna for free. He was constantly doing something, made friends with the other contestants and created very fun experiences. Just by looking at the relatability of the song (whether it was the Finns who related to the message of the song or people in general who just liked the entry for their own reasons), Käärijä's likable personality that a lot of people got to experience through social media or in person and the insane work the whole Käärijä's production team put into this whole thing, created a very unified and loyal group of fans in Finland and abroad. He was/is a phenomenon for a reason and not by luck. He and his team (and in turn Finland) tried their very best to win and anyone who followed him could see that. Not saying other contestants did not work hard but as a Finn, I have never seen Finland put this much effort into winning Eurovision before. He unified the whole country after quite an intense parliamentary election and his message of happiness and down to earth attitude really made the people love him. There is a link bellow to a video done by an American dude that goes over some of the nyances of the song Cha cha cha if you feel like finding out more about it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h1ZCh0oPSvU.html
As a Polish person, I'm begging for the butter churning to just... leave. We get it, it was quirky and weirdly sexualized but it's well past overstayed its welcome...
@@venlakirahvi I could live with that. Personally I don't think it's boring, but whatever. I'm talking about endless body shaming comments, of course the comments "he wasn't the rightful winner of Sanremo", all the comments that came after the photos of the rehearsals (like how arrogant he is because he thinks he doesn't need a staging, he doesn't even try etc) and that this will be a historically weak placement for Italy.
Ngl this Eurovision was good but unfortunately too good so someone had to be robbed. I was rooting for Norway but tbh I’ll take top 5 on that. Everyone did well with great songs and I’m fine with the winner and runner up. (But still, a lot of people were robbed)
im from Estonia and so glad we chose alika +I LOOOOOOOVED luke black´s insane laugh also i actually liked Loreen´s song but the fact that she won twice??
