Ok, I am not even going to harras you with my requests on this one, cause this one needs it's own comment. This is like my FAVOURITE entry in eurovision EVER. I had this song on my phone, listened and sang to it all the time for couple of years. Every time I listen to it I have goosebumps all over my body. Everything in this performance is perfect: her look, her VOICE (omg, that voice), the message! The words are just insane... And this 10 sec lasting long note... Pure perfection. I love it with all my heart. Thank you Jake for reacting to it.
I agree with her look, message and especially voice being perfect. Not to mention that it isn't just the message that is perfect, but the lyrics are very good as well. But what did you think of the instrumental? Personally, I feel that it took away from the song.
MrMike855 It was 8 years ago when it came out, I was 17 and it was the kind of music I was listening to back then so I loved it from the first hearing. Now I have a lot of sentiment to this performance so I think that I might not be objective at judging the instrumental itself. Maybe if the instrumental was bigger, there were more things going on, we wouldn't be focused on her voice and the message, maybe they wanted to keep it simple to highlight her voice.
Edyta I don't have a problem with the simplicity. I really like how the acoustic guitars sound in the beginning. It's just that I don't that the electic guitar really fits (except at the end). Plus, I don't like how it sounds. But I know that feeling about how much sentiment you have towards the song.
For a song titled "Sweet People", this last thing I expected was a dark song, but I did expect a good song and I was not disappointed (Ukraine rarely does).
I remember sitting on the fifth row right there next to the wind machine in Oslo. My only Eurovision event experience. This act was just.. so electric.. so out of this world performance. My knees got weak and I had to sit down. Felt like I should have done a Jimmy Jump act on her.. 😉😘
One of my all time favourites as well ❤️ I was nearly screaming when I saw the notification of this video! She came 10th, so underrated in my opinion, I actually think she should have won 2010 ❤️ Love Ukraine!
Jake, thank you a lot for such a meaningful reaction! Alyosha is an extremely powerful singer. Although this song ranked 10th in 2010 ESC, I believe that it was a masterpiece. Greetings from Ukraine!

Thanks a lot for the response to song Alyosha - Sweet People. It's impressive. Song shook me to the core. There are a lot of good songs on ESC. Listening to them with you and watching your reaction is a great pleasure. Thank you!♥ :)
Thank you for finally reacting to this song!!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ I love it so much! It was my favorite that year and I so wanted her to win! So unique, so talented!
I love Alyosha's voice and I think the song is very well-written and powerful. However, I wish that the acoustic guitars would stay throughout the song, as I feel that the sludgy post-grunge like guitars take away a lot. But still, Alyosha's powerful voice allows me to overlook that and I get goosebumps every time I hear that long note.
I'm from Ukraine, but your channel is even better, that all this amazing songs:) really, it's brilliant. Thank you, and yes, Ukraine 2011 is amazing too :)
Jake! you have to react to Monatik which opened the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv with his song Spinning This guy is so cool! One of the best singers in Ukraine
az929292, I'm sorry, before writing my previous comment I looked for such a reaction video, but I couldn't find it... All this means is that I have to look better :)
Awww she sang from her ❤️ the song was truly hers since she was singing about humans destroying Earth. She was born near Chernobyl about 2 weeks after the explosion.
You should react to some balkan ballads. They are perhaps my favorite part of the show, so beautiful and ethnic. My favorites are Bosnia 2006 (Hari Mata Hari - Lejla) and Željko Joksimović's two ballads (2004 & 2012). Otherwise I'm still waiting for you to react to Denmark's win in 2000 and Belgium's amazing performance in 2015. You're doing good, Jake! :D
Should tell you that this song was written almostly during 1 night! Can you imagine that? She should have been singing different song originally. Last one was declined by eurovision policy due to breaking rules (not by her, but still). And she had just 1 night to write a new song. 'Coz it was the last day she could send it. I love Alyosha's performance too, very much. Thank you for reaction.
This Song became a must Song of The voice every year almost în every country. IT s such an emotional Song. Don t forget please to react to Ovidiu Anton s entry from 2016 eurovision Contest, he deserve IT. Good job with Your work
That year there was a great scandal in Ukraine: the national broadcaster wanted to send a participant they'd chosen, but the people started kind of revolt. Finally, the channel gave up and we'd got the national selection. It was, probably, the latest national selection in the whole Europe, about one day before the registration deadline. You might be interested to know, that she won with another song, but the contestant, who was primarily chosen without a selection, blamed her in plagiarism and that her song was released before the earliest date, set by ESC. Probably, he hoped she would be disqualified and he still could represent the country. But she wrote the new one just within one night and registered it just in time. Alyosha was an unknown young singer I first heard about on the national selection. Her stage pseudonym is actually a short version of a male name "Olexiy". It also confused another participant with this name, who thought the hosts called him. But these days this name rather refers to this female singer. She is still popular in Ukraine. I haven't seen or heard that guy, Vasyl Lazarovych, ever since. Her winning performance, if you are interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PFz-ab8YnE8.html P.S. Can't believe it's so hard to find the good quality video from 2010. This is the best I've managed to find on RU-vid, so there is an announcement at the beginning.
VLAD.....Dracula´s name..I´ve climbed 1480 steps to saw your fortress when I visited Romania, ..and I´ve two ukrainian friends, Aline and Aline, I hope to go to Ukraine, someday. I´m a compulsive traveller xD
What a joyful way to spend a lunch break with your reaction, Jake, especially to Alyosha from Ukraine. Thank you Im still waiting for your reaction to Tina Karol eurovision 2006
I think it's about Monatik. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GO3lomB6agI.html He is amazing 😍 maybe, Jake, you'll like male performance as well 😊
I'm pretty sure I voted for it back in 2010 even though I personally find it too in-your-face. Musically it's clearly one of the better songs in an overall rather weak year, but I can't get really excited about it. You should react Netherlands 2013: "Birds" by Anouk. Its one of the most beautiful songs to ever have been performed in the contest. Very poetic, both musically and lyrically. It also appears on her excellent album Sad Singalong Songs.
You should definitely check out Georgia 2007 - it would definitely be a good song for you, as it shows off a lot of Georgian culture - especially for a debut entry!
The basic rhytmn of Sweet People reminds me of Hotel California a lot. My reaction suggestion is Pasha Parfeny - LAUTAR! Again! It's Moldova's entry from 2012 and it is sooo catchy with one of the greatest choreographies ever.
According to one Israeli edition in the article about Eurovision, the image of Deyeneris from the "game of thrones" is very similar to the image of Miki Newton))) yes please see Nick.
There's sad story behind this entry, however with happy end :) That year national broadcaster decided to spit on community and said there will be no selection and they will send to contest some old male opera singer. No one even knew that guy and he looked very old and ugly, so community got enraged and said "No", they threatened broadcaster and voiced their protest at all levels possible. Broadcaster crawled to their hole and said "Fine, send whom you want". Next day Ukraine had to show their song to EBU. We had no artist, no song. Then our musicians said "let's send Alyosha". She's been informed and had to write this song overnight. She's not a star, had no money, no time to prepare that's why bare stage and raw edges here and there. Ukraine had to prevent complete failure and Alyosha performed like a Queen in this situation!
I support this definitely. Jake, you will like it I'm sure :) 2006 Bosnia and Herzegovina (Hari Mata Hari - Lejla, 3rd place) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SXlIN3mcsH4.html
Seems Ukraine should give up trying male acts for a while since best male result is 14th place and worst female is 15th, making almost all female acts better than all male acts from Ukraine (considering 2007 as female act).
By the way, the clip for this song was taken by the singer in Chornobyl - a city in Ukraine, where more than 20 years ago the nuclear power plant broke down. And now it is a city of alienation, which is full of radiation, but there is no life. The city is abandoned by people.
Jake, react Mariya Yaremchuk from 2014, O.torvald from 2017 and Melovin's performance in Lisbon please, I am so interested in your opinion. Love from Ukraine ❤
