This is part of multicolored Armenian culture. Armenia being one of the oldest countries in the world has a history of thousands of years . While some traditions date back thousands of years, like its people, they have evolved to befit the modern age and are still celebrated today. The culture of Armenia encompasses many elements that are based on the geography, language, faith, literature, architecture, dance, and music of the people. Armenian people are regarded as one of the first and ancient nations created civilization. After the Armenian Genocide, Armenians found the strength to live, create, and continue to build their centuries-old culture.
Armenia always fuses traditional Armenian music to their Eurovision song! So great! I wish every country could do this. You must see Armenia-2008 Sirusho( Si-ru-só) with Qele-qele. Great song with Armenian touch!
I don't wanna be rude but I don't really like the new intro. There's definitely too much autotune for me and it sounds absolutely horrible for my taste! But maybe I'm the only here!🙆♂️
With a lot of these older years, I haven't heard these songs so it's my first time listening to them too when you react. And what I love about this one is the ethnic vibes. I love when countries keep their identity in the music rather than going completely mainstream. I'm gonna listen to this again.
That year they were my favorite performers. They have such amazing strong vocals and this authentic music with traditional dances and costumes. Ther were the best! Thanks, Jake for this react
I love ethno pop. Armenia and Norway were the only songs from 2009 that I had heard for the longest time. It was enough to make me want to go back and listen/watch 2009...I just...haven't gotten around to it for 8 years. (psst you should do a 2009 series)
GregorValatzeki I got to talk to the lead singer when I was in Lisbon this year. (she works as a tour guide as a side job and I joined a local tour when I was in Lisbon lol) She's really nice and I'm still in love 😍
Armenia is one of my favorite Eurovision countries but I never liked this entry - great staging, costumes but the song itself, is very annoying. I know, I'm in minority with this. Armenia 2010 was my absolute winner!
This Is good ethnic eurovision! They come from the village of Liberace hahaha just kidding (that's acording to Graham Norton) Armenia Is great, but my favourite entry Is from 2014, you should check it out.
This is partly why I love the Eurovision. In Sweden you only come in contace with generic pop songs that doesn't really differ from eachother a lot. I just really love it when modern music is mixed in with the countrys own culture. Eurovision is a great source for that :D
This song sounds even more beautiful in armenian without english part of lyrics. I think Eurosong needs to make a rule by which every country should send a song only in their language. European languages sounds beautiful and although english is a modern world esperanto I believe it would be better if the beauty of other languages can also be presented.
Yes, they are sisters :3 Inga actually came back in 2015 as a part of Genealogy ♥ (Face The Shadow if you remember it) Still listening to both entries ♥
Love this entry, one of my favorites from Armenia. The ethnic vibe and look, their beautiful voices, and so fun and melodic...love it, thank you so much for this entry.
Sorry, but the rules say 3 minutes, not 30 minutes a song...... hang on a minute: the video is only 6 minutes.....??? Sorry, but this is not my cup of tea.........
I never liked this one when it was performed at Eurovision and watching it again, it just doesn't do anything for me. They're singing about dancing and jumping and it's quite an energetic song in places, yet they both look like they're being held captive and forced to sing up on that podium. Not a single smile. Not a single ounce of energy (with the exception of the dancers). It just all seemed very....flat, to me...but then again, I know it was popular with a lot of people.
Liked it a lot, specially folk music influences. Looking forward to your 2014 reaction series, mainly because of Armenia's entry - you going to like that. Promise!
Armenia was so shady that year, the EBU prohibited them from showing a disputed site in their postcard so Armenia retaliated by putting their spokesperson in front of the monument and putting a picture of it in the clipboard the spokesperson had, it was so extra.
Armenia was shady? You're forgetting that, that was the year Azerbaijan literally cut the transmission when Armenian song came on, blocked their voting number and then whoever voted by following the order of the songs (you don't have to be a genius to guess the change in ending), were called into question by their NATIONAL SECURITY. Also, Armenia gave Azerbaijan 1 point in the final. So gtfo
You may want to check the Azeri postcard again, because in their postcard, they had a "Azadi Tower" which is located in Iran featured as a monument in Azerbaijan. So, Azerbaijan was shady during broadcast and especially after!
Trust me, you will find more Azeri’s hating on Armenians than vice versa. I actually grew up listening to some Azeri songs and watching Turkic movies. I’m Armenian! But you won’t fine an Azeri who is not an hater. There’s some but most aren’t. So stop judging Armenians because you don’t know the full facts. You won’t understand what we’ve been through. If you go research the web, you will find ancient Armenia and no Azeribaijan or Turkey. I don’t hate the civilian Turks but the facts are their people have slaughtered millions of Armenians and stole our lands including the murders of Greeks, Assyrians, Bulgarians and any Christians. The Turkic is from Asia particularly they originally cane from Mongolia, etc.
Oh this was a great song and performance, I love their costumes. You should watch the official music video for this song, it's really good too. Fun fact, one of the sisters - Inga - was part of the group that represented Armenia in 2015
Armenia has on of the oldest cultures in the world cause Armenian people are regarded as one of the first nations in the world havin civilization and culture.
Yeah and Genelogy had strong massage about Armenian genocide, like How Armeninan people survived, found power to continue live, create amazing culture(by the way, Armenian culture is one of the oldes cultures in the world, and Armenian people are one of the most ancient nations that had civilization), have generations, and ocercome their pains, wounds and inconcolable sorrow after genocide.
Ah.........no Not for me! Probably in a minority but i find this ethnically pretentious..... Armenian entries in the last 10 years have been fantastic but not this....sorry!
Yes twins Jake. This is the song I go back to most from 2009, tremendous performance all round. Interesting fact : Russia bought up 30pc of the world's LED screens to create the stage. Still the biggest stage in any Eurovision by FAR!
I requested a lot aready, but there are coming more in my mind I want you to react ^^. I suggest Luxembourg 1973, Sweden 2009 or Slovenia 2007 ;). Luxembourg 1973 is the most succesful song at ESC till date, I think you really need to listen to it ^^
