@@mikhailabdurrachman2443 the 3rd was originally going to be the film Ghosts from Mars, but because escape from LA bombed they changed the storyline around and instead of snake you get ice cube as desolation wiliams.
How about "Escape From Earth"? An aging Snake Plissken is coerced into hunting down an alleged terrorist revolutionary on Earth, which is now a lawless No Man's Land after Snake shut down the world decades earlier.
Detroit is so dead nowadays there is not even a need for a movie, you can try and escape from there yourself. Be the new snake, Kyle, lets see if you can do it!
Snake Plissken : "Got a smoke?" Malloy : "The United States is a no-smoking nation. No smoking, no drinking, no drugs. No women - unless of course you're married. No guns, no foul language... no red meat." Snake Plissken : [sarcastic] "Land of the free."
The Metal Gear franchise exists because of escape from New York and escape from L.A. The director or Metal Gear ( Hideo Kojima ) was very fascinated with Kurt Russell's character in both of these two film so he modeled solid snake and Big Boss after Kurt Russell. The Metal Gear storyline was also heavily influenced by these two films.
Exactly, and there's few news about live action metal gear solid movie, and I hope that if there would be any sequels they will put Kurt Russel as a Big Boss himself, to remind him that he's still an snake!
Fun Fact Kojima Offered Russel to voice Naked Snake aka Big Boss in MGS3 but he refused so imagine Naked Snake with Snake Plisskin's voice instead of David Hayter's
@@ericmonaco4509 I read about that but to be honest, David Hayter's voice is better. In the movies Kurt Russel speaks very quietly and almost hisses... like a snake.
@@aze378 0:57 listening to this a full decade later in response to a Twitter prompt. Totally forgot that I’d commented here, but I feel the exact same way now that I did then.
I don't care that the critics slated this. I was front row (almost...) when it hit the cinemas. And I loved it. Shortly thereafter, and as I'd hoped, I hit HMV for the sound track. A funked up Escape from New York theme, and a different movie as well. I still have an original Escape from LA CD stuck in my loft. My brain also retains the tune. Classic stuff ;) (though between you and me, the CGI work was distinctly shonky. Big name studios, you should have backed this. A cult Classic, made modern.) Escape III, how I wish you were made real. I'd have bought you. I'd have suffered the assembled masses of slightly flatulent popcorn chewing masses to see you too. And bought the soundtrack. And bought the DVD, or Blu Ray. Depending on when my pay fell. I'd have spent hard earned to see you.
Yeah I enjoyed it. It had a lot more movie schlock which I think was a deliberate decision. As someone who's a fan of hammy action movies that really didn't bother me at all. I can enjoy both films for different reasons. The first film was certainly lightening in a bottle though.
Escape from New York = Good movie, where Snake is surviving in New York, performing his mission. Escape from LA = Snake goes on a murder rampage, while being entirely badass, and in doing so, completes his mission.
I remember seeing this movie for my 16th birthday, and I loved it. The original is still far better, but this one's not the crapfest lots of folks make it out to be.
YES! YES! YES! It’s about damn time that I found this audio video of this awesome theme. I love both the original one from EFNY and this one. This one definitely sounds edgier, more hardcore, more upbeat, I mean it would make one feel ready and energetic about anything.
Never trust anyone, not even yourself; trust is but a lie to the truth that is ahead, the inevitable. You will be used and you will be exploited, no matter who is the one in control.
remember watching this in the theater with soo many of my buds.. i think i seen it a whole 6 times... man, those were the days! when i had enough buddies... that wanted to watch it.. never i complained! (free viewing, drive them to it and...) free food... and well...
"Call me Snake..." "The name's Plissken" I loved the music in Escape from LA....hell, I loved the whole movie. Despite how corny it was, Snake is the ultimate anti hero badass and it was awesome to see him kick ass again. I seriously hope they never do a remake of the franchise. Kurt Russel is Snake Plissken. I don't want to see an impostor play Snake, even if they're good.
I personally prefer this movie and it's theme-song over that of Escape from New-York, just wilder, warmer and more colorful plus I just tend to like the look and feel of the 90s more too.
I discovered and watched the "Escape from..." movies on the night of the first Saturday of January 2016. Since that every January's first Saturday night i watched these movies.
Love this. The EFNY theme on roids. The theme to Alice in Borderland is very similar. Makes me look forward to the Netflix show's second season even more.
Here in 2023 and I wish Kurt would get together with John Carpenter and do one last Snake Plissken story. From the blackout of 2013 - at the end of Escape from LA. I’m sure there’s a story there…

Does anyone else notice that Din Djarin in The Mandalorian has a Snake Plissken vibe about him, or it just me? Especially he has that gravelly , sexy, deep Dirty Harry-like voice like Snake does.
You know a theme is memorable when someone in another room who's never seen the sequel starts subconsciously humming it when the movie starts. Yes, that someone was me.
If you haven't seen "Doomsday" It's definitely a "spiritual successor" to the Escape films, with references all over the place. One-eyed protagonist, "post apocalypse", general escaping from things...
Escape from LA may not be as great & iconic as Escape from New York but the LA version of the classic Escape theme song is way way better, more bada!@ & epic than the original NY version bar none :) Even though it doesn't hold a candle to the original masterpiece that is NY, LA is still a pretty good & fun flick nonetheless :)
You're absolutely right, I'm glad you mentioned that. I for one always found Escape From LA's theme a lot better, it's just too bad John Carpenter couldn't keep his own balance when in Hollywood. There was going to be a third Escape From movie, called Escape From Earth, but it was ultimately cancelled due to Escape From LA's box office failure, and then John Carpenter was going to start the works on an Escape From tv show adaption that was supposed to be scheduled between 1998 to 2000 for development time until it could be released onto every tv screen through the United States, but because of the stupid asshole Hollywood people and the companies affiliated with the escape From movie series thought it would be too dark to show on television, so they cancelled it, which resulted in a huge argument between Joh Carpenter and Hollywood until he recited from Hollywood completely somewhere in 2002, and he never made any movie, nor anything to do with the Escape From franchise ever again, which is really a shame, because if you look at it this way, back in the late 90s to the early 2000s, there really wasn't anything good as far as sci fi and action movies and tv shows go. And truly, Snake Plissken is truly one of the greatest and most badass movie characters ever created, and during the late 90s to early 2000s, the movies and tv shows were already going through a crisis anyways, and an Escape From tv series would have cured that, and would have became one of the greatest tv shows to ever hit the tv screen, if Hollywood was actually smart by allowing an Escape From tv series adaption to happen, but instead they disagreed with it completely because of their thoughts of it being too dark, which was really stupid thing to do, because not only does John Carpenter loose the huge chance of making huge money, but also Hollywood looses the chance of making huge money as well.
Blizzard1942 I completely agree, proof positive that you can take something that's already great & still make it even more better & more amazing than it already was :)
Paul Walker I would love to see a Snake Plissken-inspired TV show. If they can bring back Evil Dead & turn it into a cool successful TV series than they can do the same with Escape!!! Just as long as it's either HBO, Starz, Netflix or AMC that makes it ;)
Did you know the film 'Lockout' with Guy Peirce was meant to be a sequel to Escape from LA & it was supposed to be called 'Escape From Space'. That would have been an awsome sequel.
What I'd like to see for the next Snake Plissken adventure would be a video game for the Xbox360 or PS3...if a movie sequel can't be done, why not a game for the newest consoles, right? I could envision this as something in the vein of "Dead Rising" or even GTA where Snake could go run around and blow people away...and of course, Kurt Russell HAS to do the voice of Snake, hands down!
Got to have an Escape From Earth. Plisken's not dead, or taller. He's just back. To save Humanity. Even though he doesn't want to. Money in my hand waiting for this to show at the local cinema. As it has been since the end of Escape from LA. What a beautiful dark sci fi story it would make. Hell, I'll even write it!
So i did finally watch the movie.i actually liked it.to me it didnt feel like a parody,i didnt know what was gonna happen,so it had some surprises and twists (to me) and i think it captured the spirit of escape from ny.i was happy, that they referenced that movie and that they were a bit similar (kinda like silence of the lambs and red dragon).i also really liked the action and i didnt have any problems with the acting or the other characters.
Fun Fact: GHOSTS OF MARS was intended to be another Snake movie (they changed the character to Desolation played by Ice Cube) it was only because escape from LA bombed that this was changed.
escape from Vegas ? Escape from Miami ? Escape from Washington ? Escape from USA ? They made the unexpexted Fury Road and it was awesome. Do the same !
