I love how these women stuck together and continue to have a friendship. Did I mention how awesome it is that they colored their hair!!! I bet it helped them feel free and that they can make choices for themselves and not be told what to do by others.

I feel the same way about my chosen family. My biological family is toxic but I have developed very loving friends that have replaced my family.

What courage you display when you all go back to the same place that causes you so sooooooo much anxiety that would probably bring me close to a heart attack. My ex husband turned to Mormonism while we were in a monogamous and once happy marriage. He decided to attempt to groom me into believing I "should" be alright with having more wives brought into the marriage and I was like, WHAAAAAAAAA????? We originally met and married in a Saturday keeping Church of God. Something I've been doing since 4 and left a previously abusive marriage to keep on doing. So this was like a real shocker to many including myself. So you all have a special place in my heart and only understand a TIP of the iceberg. I was being oppressed, suppressed and repressed. He ALMOST succeeded in making me lose myself and even stalked me after I left. Our last night together he threatened to blow his head off with a gun and I had to run out the door in the snow without shoes or a coat or I might have been caught in the crossfire. I got out in the nick of time. He didn't do it, spent some time in a ward. I visited nearly every day but it was essentially to say goodbye. He didn't know until it was time for him to come home. It was the best decision I could have ever made. I physically SHOOK for 3 years if I saw him anywhere in public. My fear was so great. Now, I could look him in the eye without wavering. God can make you strong as He has me. Thank you all for sharing your stories. I thought I'd share mine so you know there are many, MANY folks out here rooting for you and have mini stories of their own like myself. Thank you once again.

I got pregnant with my son at 17 and had him when I was 18.. my mother and her boyfriends were extremely abusive when I was growing up. She basically sold me to them,they paid the bills and gave her money to go to the bar and drink and she let them do what they wanted..when I had my son my sister told her that I was at the hospital in labor and called her and told her that I had had my son and I had an emergency C-section and that I was in a coma which i was my mother showed up to the hospital and saw my son. So she knew I had him.I now have a 19 month old daughter whom I had when I was 29 and I'm currently 33 weeks 2 days pregnant with a baby boy and she doesn't know about my daughter and doesn't know I'm pregnant again.. I would never want my mother around my kids. My son's father who is not the same man is my daughter's father and the new babys dad.(my daughter and the new baby have the same dad he's my husband) (I got pregnant in high school my son's father and i didnt stay together) my son does not speak to my mom and my daughter and my new baby are not going to even know who she is.. I understand where she doesn't want to not let her biological mom know about her new baby,because it is a joyous time and her biological mother didn't do anything bad to her she was following what The Order says.. I feel so bad for the people that are in those type of religions they can't think for themselves and that mother heidy literally gave up custody of her two children.and she still wants her birth mother to be a part of her life..shes def strong and has her values in the right spots..

I’m glad these women get out of such a horrible situation. Instead of just dealing with it and having kids just to put them through that. Wonderful you could overcome it and now you have your own little family and it seems like you’re doing a wonderful job 🌸💕sad her family cut her off but she has these wonderful people who truly seem like family. So sweet.

The loyalty they have after so much abuse is unbelievable to me. I too have been in a very bad family life and want nothing to do with them. Truly, the power of forgiveness is unbelievable. I must not be a good person. Because I can’t forget. I can’t be around them at all. None of them.
