A young woman should be married and with a couple of children to a husband who's just a few years older than her. Family is what brings happiness not a career, a career is a means to an end and young women shouldn't be wasting their youth on college, drinking and partying, then focusing on career so when they want children is already too late because they are already too old. Children need a parent to take care of them and educate them , not handling them to strangers to take care of them in your place. This is the biggest problem our modern society has, they are trying to destroy nuclear families and tradition. This cults should be heavily prosecuted , but the traditional way is not wrong. From the perspective and experience of an 18 year old housewife married to a 24 yo lovely husband expecting a child.

NurtureTheOak I think it’s okay to have this view for yourself, if you’re happy being a housewife then I’m happy for you, but you shouldn’t push this narrative on everyone else. I for example am a 19 year old female, I don’t want kids (in fact it’s my worst nightmare), instead I want a good paying job in the future that allows me to travel the world. A husband is not a concern of mine and marriage to me is a waste of money. This doesn’t make me less than you or you less than me. Al long as were both happy with our lives and aren’t harming anyone else.

They make these women have as many babies as possible, but refuse to provide them the proper medical care to make sure the moms and their babies survive the pregnancy/birth....That is so ridiculous and cruel I can't even wrap my mind around it. Why would they even want their wives to keep getting pregnant if they don't care whether they live or die?? Makes no dang sense!

Jessica Sanfurd it is a book/Hulu Show that focuses on a futuristic society that is run by religious extremists. The main focus of the book/show is the women how are forced to be raped by men in order to carry their babies then give the babies to the men’s wife’s to raise. There is like 80% infertility in this world, and the religious extremism that are in charge blame women for working, ect. Part of it is also, women can’t read, they can’t have their own money, ect. You get the idea. This is very similar to the FLDS and the Kingston group. They control their members, especially women, very similar to the book/show. People argue that it could never happen here, but ignore the fact that it basically does.

As difficult as it is to leave a situation like that (or even one less severe!), I really admire her for being strong enough to get away from that situation for her children's sakes! About a year ago I watched a video that a travelling couple made going through one of the colonies, I can't exactly recall which but I think it was the FLDS and I couldn't believe it as they passed a local graveyard and how MANY FRESH buried graves there were was SHOCKING! It appeared to be approx. 30 of them and my jaw simply dropped because I was so in shock. It's things like that I can't understand as acceptable to the surrounding authorities that are nearby but are NOT attached to the compound nor affiliated with the religion can't seem to save anyone without crossing legal boundaries whilst several people are dying constantly. It's terrifying to learn what you were up against. I applaud you all for not only getting out but nobody has put it into your hands to make you responsible to help others to get out, but you do it anyway. I'm so incredibly happy you all got out, can get the help you need and can live.

I have had preeclampsia and it's scary, my blood pressure was so high I could have had a stroke, I'm only 22, 21 at the time I gave birth. It's a very serious issue, its scary to think how many women go through pregnancy complications without the proper care when they are in situations like a Cult.

I too had preeclampsia which resulted in a stroke a week and a half after my daughter was born. I was told I wouldn’t ever be able to have anymore children. I have cardiomyopathy, which I NEVER knew I had any type of heart condition and have to take medicine for the rest of my life. My daughter is now 18.

I had pre eclampsia with my second baby. Thankfully he was born at 37 weeks. It had to be tough for her to have had 2 preemies and now you have to worry about that happening again.

Nicolaaa 02 actually a disturbing number are born into that society, raised to normalize abuse, and later forced into these types of situations. The women and girls presented didn't choose that for themselves, mainly because they aren't given choices at all. If you leave you lose your family and face eternal damnation in the eyes of the church, which is why it is very hard to leave.

Heart defects are very common in babies who have Down's syndrome, and while it is classified as a genetic disease because it happens due to a gene abnormality it is incredibly rare for it to run in families unless one or both parents has the condition. Her father might carry the faulty gene though if there are multiple children who have it by different mothers. But that's also a variable since a mother is at a higher risk of having a baby affected by Downs if she is older and also if she's had a previous child(ren) who were diagnosed with Downs. In all communities like theirs it's not so much that incest is a problem, it has more to do with a small gene pool. There's conditions that affect every group that tends to only marry others of the same religion. I have Jewish ancestry as well as French Canafian. Both of those groups also have a bunch of genetic abnormalities that they are more likely to inherit. I seen to remember that she and her husband saw a geneticist before having their first child though and I believe that they were cleared of having a likelihood to pass on a inherited condition.

Our family has lots of these similar health issues and we keep all our family records, no incest. It’s dietary and environmental. Or like a deer in the forest with a huge cancerous tumor, just abnormal dna from just being on a toxic af planet with toxic water. And also we’re just built different with different issues. Getting out of a "family" that believes in young marriage to many people that are related in this cult. All the children have the same dad and are all very closely related because the moms are all closely related as well. As a women in this flds cult a women is to have many children and not get any type of education. Theres no cell phones, tvs internet. Alot of the men and women that have left had to leave in the night and be very quiet when leaving so they weren't stopped.

There is a history of incestuous marriages in this cult. She's not in an incestuous marriage...she is likely the product of an incestuous marriage. Her parents were probably related and their parents were probably related.
