For me my late dad married 10 wives,my mother is the 10th wife. We are 76 children and I am child no 76. Was married off at the age of 9 years,run away,married off again forcefully be at age 12. I remember how I ate soil and drunk my own urine to survive. Glad to be alive today and happy today

Look at it from Granny's eyes: there are strangers and a camera crew in your house in the middle of the night, and they're methodically taking out of the home (stuff Granny probably paid for, btw). It's not too much of a leap to think she's being robbed. Plus she truly believes her granddaughter's soul is at stake. Even if it's misguided, I see why she would panic and call for help when her granddaughter is headed for damnation.

@@litaraduodox5799 Still her fault. At her age, at some point, we have to start putting blame on the individual. The deeds you commit while brainwashed are still choices you, yourself, made. Controlling your grandchildren and forcing a life on them that they do not want is a choice you have to make consistently, and though there is a valid reason behind that choice it still doesn’t take away from the harm committed.

It's definitely an individual decision that can't be made for anyone else from what I've witnessed. To have more than one at a time is very rare. They have to consider leaving everything they know to go into a life they know nothing about. They have no idea where they're going, what it's like outside the compound or anything. This is no small decision. It's over the top brave!

And spouses were able to respect and honour each other. Now days a marriages that last are rare occurence. My parents shall celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary next year.

I feel so much for these girls. I can’t imagine how hard it is to go against everything you’ve ever known, and all of the people you love, and basically the only people you know period. But trying to do the right thing and be free. What an emotional journey this must be.

Kiara Orr this mimics escaping domestic violence cases. They are told DO NOT pack or start throwing things away. Leave everything untouched. You do not want them to catch on that you’re trying to leave. This is how you get killed or held hostage. Yes they take their stuff because what are they going to do with no job, no money, and no education. They aren’t taking much. Yes it seems they should just walk away but to know you will never in your life see your family again you need something to hold on too. This is why many go back. Leaving actually is the easiest part.

I have a friend who was on this show and escaped. It's very real. Everyone tries to take their clothes or as many belongings as possible, what else are they going to do? Their whole lives belong to the church, including their money and their jobs. The best they can do is take their possessions and get out.

I just left my husband and had to leave withing a few hours. The first few things I made sure I had were clothes medical document and my sons memory box. I dont have much else because I haven't been able to go back but I do find some comfort in the fact that I have the clothes that make me feel comfortable. Unless you are inca situation where you NEED to get out you dont really have a plan of all the stuff you will take.

Ethel is an incredible testament to the strength and courage of women. She is inspiring and beautiful and truly inspiring. The short response of “I’m going” to her grandmother as she takes that final look at her speaks VOLUMES about how fed up she was with that cult. Just so everyone knows I live about 35 mins from Colorado city I went to high school with alot of polgyms. My best friend was actually on a TLC show about escaping polygamy. It was all scripted. I'm not saying this is scripted but from what people i talked to they never had to escape. It was more of leave and you can never come back. Alot of them never wanted to. It's a sad situation but like every reality tv show be cautious remember they are just trying to get views it is still tv
