If UConn reminds me of anybody, it’s Miami CFB team between 1981 and 2001. Same # of titles. The first came against a team that many thought of as among the GOATS, as did UConn’s.

UCONN has won mulitple championsips, and had periods where the were consistent and dominance. Their basketball program has produced a lot of successful NBA players like Ray Allen, Richard Hamilton, Charlie Villanueva, Ben Gordon, Caron Butler, Emeka Okafor, Rudy Gay, Andre Drummond, Jeremy Lamb, and Kemba Walker

There were not three different championship eras imo. Ollie got his off Calhoun's players and then ruined the program with a lack of talent,accountability and leadership. Then Dan Hurley came and saved the day, 2 eras.

Not a fan of Ollie, but in fairness to him, we went to the AAC where no one really wanted to play compared to other conferences. Luckily for Hurley, we went back to the Big East at the right time which was huge for his recruiting.
@karatearmchairhistorian9825
Ollie ruined the program because he wanted to be another John Thompson with regard to scholarship offers and staff while having less than 1/10th of Thompson's coaching talent. It's funny that everyone in woke CT knows that but refuses to acknowledge it.

Nah, it's his championship because he had to coach them everyday. Just because you have players that doesn't guarantee anything. You still have to prepare them. I know. I played college basketball.

@@youtuber_00786 if Hurley was there during the AAC they'd win anyway he's a leader of men and he we get the right people no matter where he was coaching

They ran a different offense under Ollie with a different personnel. Yes he did have some calhouns players and recruits but it was a new team, I don’t understand the hate smh

UConn has the same number of championships as Duke. UConn is 2-0 against Duke in the Final Four. Therefore UConn is better than Duke. End of discussion!

No one ever remembers where the Duke UConn rivalry began, all the way back in the 1990 regional finals, where Laettner hit the first buzzer beater to send Duke to the Final Four.
@BookClubDisaster
@BookClubDisaster Год назад
@@BlyGuy A lot of us remember that. Absolutely crushing. The game was won if Tate George didn’t lose his dribble and let the ball go out of bounds.

I know. Poor Tate George and his butter fingers. I think he knew as soon as that ball slipped away what was coming. Could see it all over his face.
@karatearmchairhistorian9825
@@BlyGuy However, Tate was also responsible for the buzzer beater in the Sweet Sixteen against Clemson.

Duke has a more storied history and more all time wins and more Final Fours.

The ACC took Pitt instead of UCONN because they liked the basketball region that attracted PItt players. I also heard the same thing about UCONN being a one trick pony as far as coaches. Meaning they could never get another coach at that level to coach there. It was poetic justice that Hurley literally picked UCONN over Pitt who actually offered him more money. It's a tight family and they didn't want to drive 7 hours he said. I hope UCONN never plays in the ACC for this reason.
@FAITHandLOGIC

They took Pitt because BC blocked the ACC from taking UConn.

As a KY fan I've always looked at UConn as a blue blood, maybe not to the caliper of Kentucky or North Carolina, but definitely 1 of the big dogs in college hoops. And thing is if UCLA ever got rolling again or if Kentucky can get back to winning then those two reign supreme. Until they get caught. So UK and UCLA need to do something..or UConn, and UNC and Duke and Kansas will catch up.
@jasonh5547
@jasonh5547 Год назад
I think UCONN has expanded the list of bluebloods from six to seven. However, I would put UCONN at the #7 all time because they really do not have the more storied history and consistent accomplishments like numerous Final Fours that UCLA, Kentucky. North Carolina, Kansas and Duke has. I still think Indiana has a little more all time success especially when factoring in Big 10 success.

No disrespect to the so called Blue Bloods. Historically, John Wooden was an icon. I hope everyone researches his family upbringing and background. He should have run for president. Three time All-American at Purdue, his coaching accomplishments speak for themselves. That being said, UCLA has not been a great program for 30 years. Same goes for Indiana, nothing since 1976. Just saying!
