What's not discussed is the defensive motor of Holmgren. Yes hes really offensively gifted, but combining that with being a legit shot blocker who had 12 blocks a couple weeks ago and 6 or 7 last night is insane to think about. The affect he has on a game is huge no matter how bates scores

people really underestimate how skilled a scorer KD was back then. I don't think Chet is gonna put up 26 a game on 40% from three like KD did as a freshman at Texas. Dude took over games offensively like no other freshman I've ever seen. But we'll see

Holmgren got significantly better in his cardio. The coaches respect his ability to bring up the ball Because it’s an asset (assault). Emoni got exposed he couldn’t guard the slick footer & because his game was limited they played great defensive on him which made holmgren look nice

How have I known who Emoni Bates is for years, yet this is the first time I've ever heard of Chet Holmgren? This kid is exponentially better at the fundamentals of basketball than any other 7 footer I've seen in all my years of watching basketball. Not to mention the speed and precision of his movement up and down the floor. Says a lot about the role hype/social media can distort a prospect's ability.

Yeah just think if he get to like 220, doesn't need to be a lot. Just get a real college diet, fill out in the upper body and legs and he's gonna be unstoppable. It's gonna be very interesting how he matches up once in the pros because he has all the fundamentals, just always scared for a injury on guys that tall and lanky

@@fried_tacos1587 yeah 220 lbs at a minimum, but he's listed at 190 now so that's a tall order. Hopefully he's got good work ethic

I think that Holmgren stole the show - he has it all. Bates has great offensive abilities, but showed a lot of defensive vulnerabilities.

@@MikeHard313 doesn't matter. The GLeague option is very real. Now kids dont have to leave the country to be millionaires out of HS. All while getting professional training and not having to go to school. I think more elite prospects will choose that option, Emoni being one of them.

Wow. The control from holmgren is great. Hes definitely going to be a great defender, hes messy on defense but he understands offense so well - he knows where to expect players to be, so he can block a shot without even seeing who has yhe ball. On offense he really looks like giannis
