Thanks for posting, this was really interesting. I have 3 bird baths in my garden. A ‘posh’ sandstone pedestal one, an old Pyrex dish and a large terracotta saucer. The sandstone birdbath sits on a manhole cover in the middle of my lawn so there is no camouflage from that pesky sparrow hawk so only the big brave jackdaws and wood pigeons use that. The other two are a hive of activity and it’s wonderful to watch. Should be on prescription 😊💚 All three are washed out EVERY DAY. It takes one minute. I use a jet stream from my hosepipe for the pedestal and take the other two to my garden tap where I keep a long handled dish brush. I have robins, gold finches, blue tits, coal tits, spuggys, black birds, doves, wood pigeons, and of course starlings and jackdaws. I feed mealworms, nyger seeds, sunflower hearts and fat balls. My two dogs are trained not to bark or chase the birds.
