the "cookie jar" is a RUM TOPF. Throughout tbe year, fruits get collected and "perserved" in RUM. Add some sugar and by winter time, the RUMTOPF is done. The fruit is blessed by the alkohol. Thats how we German's celebrate the fruit bounty in the winter.
Your badge is a 'St. Christopher' medallion that were usually placed in vehicles to keep the riders safe from harm. The wings denote those of the angels also keeping you out of harms way. (Quick, safe travels). 🙂
Thanks for taking us on this adventure. Sorry you got stuck, but glad you worked it out and got us there! My favorite items were the matching glass candy jars you didn't pick. 😂 Happy ST. PATTYS DAY
It looks like a Dutch license plate, now known as historic plates. These plates were registered between 1951-1978. The one on the table looks like one of the first round registered. Because of the 2 letters in the front
@@mirandabruning3953 definitively Portuguese, the font is different, larger also. If you look it up, you will see the difference. I do absolutely understand why you would mistake one for the other.
18:08 Alex I believe the medal with the wings is not military but a St. Christopher medal that folks used to hang in their cars on the visor or some had an adhesive on the back to hang on the dashboard. St. Christopher is the Patron saint of travelers.
Alex you are looking younger and slimmer and more handsome than ever. I don't think we as your viewers ever realised how much pressure you were under during Covid with the store.😢😊❤
1st channel is GREAT! as a collector I've learned so much. So thank you Alex. I think we should create a new drinking game where we take a shot every time Alex says "little "!
The Indian matchbox is cool, the factory where they built the motorcycles is close to where I live. They turned it into condos about twenty years ago unfortunately. Very cool building “V” shaped. All the brickwork is still used. Mason square area, lots of old buildings.
Enjoy your videos but, unless I missed it, it would be helpful if you could tell us what things cost. If not individually, then the total cost. It helps us going to our local estate sales to understand what people will accept for things.
There are two countries that use that arrangement of numbers and letters on their licence plates, The Netherlands and Portugal. The raised letters WERE common in the UK in the 1960s, but not with that arrangement of numbers and letters.
In the comment from @DoroHiro he said instead of a cookie jar, that it was a Rum Topf. During the year various fruit was added to rum in that jar along with some sugar thus preserving it and by the end of the year concoction was then enjoyed. Interesting.
You can get all that military pins and buttons for very cheap online. The only thing that is worth 100 bucks is the shell art turned into a wine holder. The pocket knives are 1 dollar each online. And the figurines are all 1 dollar each online. The made in Germany steins are 3 to 4 dollars each. The guy has nothing of value except the shell turned into a wine holder . The pipe made of flow blue ceramic is cool I didn't think his wife smoked a pipe though he said that was his wife stuff ? He is con job . He said they go for 1200 . His whole house is not worth 1200. Empty the swords . Average 100 dollars each
Just because she didn't smoke a pipe doesn't mean it wasn't hers. Maybe someone special to her gave it to her. Just like the other stuff was special to her for whatever reason. Might not have had monetary value but had a lot of sentimental value to her which is why he didn't want to sell it. Just like I have an old 1930's Gillette razor that was my grandpa's. I don't shave my face but it's mine. Obviously Alex knew a lot of that stuff wasn't worth much or he would have come home with it.
My father and his cousin took two of the families Confederate swords and started cutting down the corn crop . Cousin Emory said they got the worst beating of their lives for their actions. Spare the rod and spoil the child was taken to heart in the 1930's and 1940's.
That Id Card Has A SIN # & I Think that do to fraud that & That He Passed Their Are Always Issues Towards Duplicating Fake Cars, I Am Sorry But In My Opinion I Would Have Never Shared That On Camera...
