In this Etat Libre d'Orange review, I'm discussing the colognes Hermann and Fat Electrician. I'm also testing for the first time their NEW cologne, Exit the King.

Of these three fragrances, I'd say Hermann is my favorite. The fresh spice and subtle aquatic notes fade into resinous wood base notes and the overall result is a well-balanced and complex cologne.
But that's not to say that Fat Electrician and Exit the King don't have their places in your cologne collection.
Fat Electrician takes the classic leather, smoke notes of an old-school style vetiver, but freshens things up with more floral scents up front. It's as sultry as its name suggests.
It's been a few days since I first tried Exit the King (i.e. when I shot this video). My stance has changed a little---it absolutely reminds me of the beach.
The sandalwood hangs around for a long time on the dry down, which I'm excited about. The soap top notes aren't my favorite, but like other Etat Libre d'Orange fragrances, I feel that the top-notes really mellow out and add a ton of intrigue to the base-notes.
Etat Libre d'Orange has one of the most reasonable "sample" policies. Last time I checked, you can grab a sample of most of their fragrances for just $4.
I haven't found any other premium perfumers that offer that same sort of sample package. If you know of any, please let me know so I can expand my collection!
