Edit: I'll watch the episode tomorrow because it's half past midnight here :( Edit 2: So... You got the flu shot as a kid, got cranky and stubborn as heck and then spanked 37 times. Yeah... I can see why you're scared to get the flu shot. Edit 3 (if you decide to use this comment as comment of the day, use this part): I like the nature theme for the new base. Why not make the ceiling made out of regular, white, gray or black glass in certain places so you can see outside? I know that the base is supposed to be cramped and cozy, but having some areas that "open up" would be a good way to give the base some variety. You could also make bridges by putting glass on the sides and bottom as well, so you can see all around you as you go outside. Btw, it'd be a shame if they patched this...

you should definitely get a flu shot. the chance of getting the flu from the vaccine is close to none. you can ask get the flu if you are vaccinated however it most likely won't be as bad or last as long. As for a reaction, that is always possible. Flu vaccines usually have lower reaction rates than most. A behavioral change is most likely unrelated or indirectly related and should be highly improbably, especially as an adult. (you may also be able to get a flu mist which is like a nasal spray)

Hey Etho! Regarding the flu shot. I never got the flu shot until 2011 when it was mandatory for me to get it because I was in the service. Before 2011 I would sometimes get the flu but not every year. From 2011 to 2015 I received the flu vaccine and have not been sick at all. Not even a cough. I would recommend it. I wasn't given a shot however. It was administered in a nasal spray. Not sure if that's an option for everyone. Might just be an army thing. Not sure. Love your videos dude.

Dear Etho, I know you'll probably never see this, but I have a little story to tell. When my brother (Stuart) and I first heard about RU-vid in probably 2010 when you started your let's play season 1, your video popped up on my brother's account. I told him to click on it because I really wanted to see what this game called minecraft was really all about. I was about 8 or 9, so I didn't understand any of it, but I really loved your videos. I asked my brother every day after school to use his computer to watch your videos and this was a time where my parents divorced, putting me under some stress and I can confidently say you helped me through those dark times. Then every Sunday after we went over to our Dad's house and went back to our Mom's, we would watch your videos and that was really the highlight of our week. We made some of our best memories watching your videos one of which when you made trees for fans who donated to your channel. My brother donated and when you showed his name, we looked at each other and that's the biggest I've ever seen my brother smile. Anyways I know this isn't really a short story, but I just wanted to say thank you for making me feel so much better

You should take into consideration the use of farmland because you can't trample it in small mode.

The crawling feature is also a super efficient way of strip mining. It's 25% faster than normal 2 wide strip mining.

ETHO! Room Idea - snow themed - can create the slight block elevation with snow slabs, you could have ice, packed ice, blue glass, snow golems, snow ,white bunnies, it would be perfect for winter! you could add christmas stuff too!

I watched all of Etho's LP videos, but when I heard him mention the one block tall base in ep 586 my mind was completely blank. I searched for it, and was surprised when it was only 112 episodes ago. Then I noticed the date, late 2016, that just baffles me. I know this series has been slow for a while, but I had forgotten just how slow... AND ELYTRAS WERE ALREADY IN THE GAME???

I would get it, why not lower the risk which at most takes 5 hours. While getting the flu can put you down for days. Though in Ethos case... I have no idea, he has a nice personality, I don't want to spoil it :p

The worst thing a flu shot ever did to me was a slightly sore arm for two entire days - such horror /sarcasm. Worst side effect I've ever personally heard of was my sister (whose immune system _really sucks_) feeling slightly knackered for a day. I'm pretty sure getting into a traffic accident on the way to get a flu shot is more probable than actually having serious side-effects related to said flu shot. Quite frankly, though, for me there was never much of a difference between flu shot and no flu shot, regarding the frequency of being sick. When I was a kid, I had a peculiar talent for picking up exactly those strains the vaccine didn't include, and ever since I started going to university, I seem to be fairly immune to that kind of stuff anyway. I guess the constant exposure to 120 people worth of germs in your average lecture hall really does buff up your immune system over time... But yeah, basically, if it's covered by your healthcare anyway and you know you're susceptible to getting the flu, just go and get that flu shot. If your doctor is good at handling needles, it doesn't even hurt. (is this still coherent? It's 3 AM and I can't brain Dx)

Cool idea would be have glass 1x1 tubes that go through the mountains in and out like one of those buildable marble mazes like when we are kids and have them color coded to go to different parts of the base that way you could see the cool landscape around and make your base organized in a super creative way

As far as going out when sick: I try to avoid it as much as possible. I seriously do. However, I can only get so much time off from work, and can be fired if I take too many days off. One thing I should note is that when you're well, you should try to spend some time outside, probably every day. Sunlight is actually good for you. And definitely eat a healthy diet that lends itself to getting lots of nutrients, especially vitamins and minerals. Blueberries are actually pretty good for your immune system.

Hey Etho! About the flu shot. it is free in Canada, the needle only hurts for a second and the rest of the time it's in you I would describe it as uncomfortable not painful, you are putting other in a position to get sick by not getting the shot, as for driving to get the shot just think would you rather spend 30 minutes driving and waiting for the shot or spend a week sick? As for your reaction to the flu shot as a baby I doubt it changed your personality however it might be a good idea to go over it with your doctor before your next shot.

Who else wants Etho to play Rimworld and just listen to his commentary as he plays the game? It's a decent amount of micromanagement, but I think Etho would enjoy it, and it would be very interesting to see how he gets his colony to run smoothly.

Hey Etho! If you really don't feel well, just don't feel bad about not making many videos. Also about the flu shot, I've never gotten ill from it. If you asthma like my mom, tho, the mist is really bad for you.

I would certainly recommend getting the shot. If you're worried about an allergic reaction to it, definitely talk to your doctor beforehand. The whole change in personality likely had nothing to do with the shot. Two years old is a common age for kids to fundamentally change the way they act, because the brain goes through a bunch of development around that time. That age also happens to be the age when children get their first set of shots, leading a lot of people to blame the vaccine.

This is one of the most creative an unique minecraft ideas that I have ever seen! Please keep on building this base, it is so cool!

Its either takes an hour to get the flu shot or be sick and feel like crap for a week. I get the flu shot every year and ya its a pain to go and get it but its worth it and ive only had the flu once when I was little so I think it does help but I would check to see if you'll have another allergic reaction because I wouldn't want your personality to change like it did when you were young, and it would suck to have a reaction to it. If I were you I would get the flu shot but I would understand if you didnt get it. P.S. I love your personality, its amazing!

Etho, I was so excited when you said you were doing a blue and orange color scheme since orange and blue are my favorite complimentary colors. I was kinda disappointed when you changed it. (Nature schemes are your specialty, though, so I understand.) My opinion as an artist: Grey stone looks ok with blue, but not with orange. With orange, cobblestone is too busy and harsh since orange is already a bright color, and it ends up looking like billowing smoke. Why don't you try a mostly blue scheme with Acacia and red sandstone highlights since both of those blocks are actually orange? And for the blue blocks, there are wools, lapis, carpet, water, glass.... it will be a challenge, but I think you can do it. Plus, I believe you like challenges, right? Riiiiiight? :b

I've never taken a flu shot, and I'm almost never sick. I haven't been sick for more than 1 or 2 days for years. But then again, I sleep well and regularly, eat diverse kinds of food, and exercise. I know you've talked a lot about you sleep schedule, and I think it might be one of the problems. A lot of people overlook sleep, but it is actually one of the most important things about your health, and especially your immune system!

I have a very strong fear of needles. Unfortunately, a flu shot is a necessary evil. So yes, I do get vaccinated.

A cool motif would be to have half the base as a summer/spring theme and half the base as winter themed. Then you can utilize snow layers as well.

About the Flu Shot; Lets say you get it, and you get injected with the weak flu baddies. Those baddies could be flu 'type A'. But seeing that the flu has so many variations you are still vunerable for "type B/C/D etc" Tho its mostly a good idea to get the shot either way, even if it would only protect you for that one type of the flu :) But yeah some people are very sensitive to it. My doubts are with IT being the cause for the change of personallity tho

You don't get sick when you get a flu shot. At least I've heard its a myth. You should consult a medical professional not the comment section. What you describe sounds unbelievable! No matter, you own your body. I don't mean to be rude or tell you what to do. I love your content, but not only does your spanking story worry me and bring child abuse to mind, your health is something very serious! Please take care and make an informed decision on the flu shot.

I really like the mini-base, it feels like a dwarven city type of build idea, which is really cool!

With the expanded palette of orange and blue colors plus the revamped crawl mode, this would be a cool project to revisit in the current Minecraft version!

Make the tunnel base like a small-space experimentation lab, where you have different themed rooms (Ice, Nether, Swamp). Maybe even have a mini-arena where you bring silverfish from the portal room to fight them. And turn the outside tunnels into hamster tubes.
