7:49 Cocoa beans can no longer be found in dungeon chests since 1.6, and this area of Etho's world has been generated at the world's creation in 2011. Imagine that single cocoa bean lying in that dungeon chest undiscovered for 9 years until Etho decided to make this squid farm.

I actually used Warped Logs to make the floor of a build. when the logs are rotated 90 degrees every other spot, it looks like the tacky carpet used in roller skate rinks. gives off a fun 90s feel

Hey Etho! I've got a suggestion to what to do with the random houses you build around your world. Just put there some useful villagers. It both gives a reason and use to visit the house, also brings residence to the house. I think it's a good idea and hope you'll see it :)

I left this as a reply on another comment, but I'll make it my own comment for everyone asking "What is that tower Etho was talking about?" It is from Episode 146: Bread Maker. It was a skeleton dungeon that was just under the sand that had the roof collapse in ( very common in deserts in the old days) that Etho converted into a simple farm that would bring the skeletons up via water elevator and then drop them to kill them for bones. He has an old school "bread maker", a device using BUD pistons that would allow for automatic bonemealing of wheat (this was before you could use dispensers to do that).

You mention the roof top area is where you sit down and eat breakfast, so here's my idea: You could make a chicken farm and a wheat farm inside the building. Thus, you would have "chicken and waffles"! Just something I thought would be fun to do

I'm always mildly disgruntled with just how much Etho uses stripped logs. There's so many builds when he will lay down the logs and I get excited and thinks it looks really good and then he goes back and strips them and im like oh... I guess that looks good too

I’ve never felt so much nostalgia, I’ve been watching Etho for years, since he started his first single player Minecraft. I’ve seen him grow and I’ve grown with him too. He’s been my parent for Minecraft and games and without knowing he’s got me through many tough things. I think I talk for everyone in your fan base when I say, we love you, not your content but you. How you make us feel, you make us feel warm and safe and loved. You are relatable, soft, smart, talented, funny... so much more. Etho, I have to say, it's unreal how much you've been developing your understanding of building theory over the past few years. I've been watching (and copying) you since the boat elevators, and to hear your explanation of building strategy, using your own build from over a year ago as an example for simple improvements, is something no other channel provides. Well done on your commitment to improvement and thanks for taking us on your journey.

Watching Etho's let's play series again feels like reuniting with an old acquaintance. I used to play a lot of Minecraft starting in my late middle school/early high school years but then stopped for a while. I'm now almost graduating college and I've recently picked up Minecraft again as a way to spend my (now more limited) free time. Was surprised to see Etho is not only still active, but that he's on the same world as in 2012! I'm gonna have a heck of a time binge watching the last 6+ years of missed content. :)

Stone Brick/Birch Wood is a slept on combo.

The birch wood log (with bark on all sides) is great for giving a built that Texas feel

Hey Etho, I stopped watching LPs about two years ago to focus on my professional life. My sister has recently gotten into Minecraft Mobile, and I think it would be a great idea to expose her to the original Java game's full experience. However, much has changed since I last played, and I figured I should catch up on the game's mechanics first. I could, of course, have read the wiki, but I asked myself, "is the wiki truly the best way to learn Minecraft mechanics?" Immediately, a voice I recognized only too well, from having watched nearly 500 episodes of his work for over six years, popped into my head: "Oh no, the best way to learn Minecraft mechanics is from watching EthosLab, of course!" Imagine how amazed and happy I was to find out upon my return to discover new game mechanics when I was gone; you started a project to demonstrate every mechanic in the game! I think that is a grand idea! And that was not the only serendipitous event, oh no, far from it. I discovered, to great joy, that I have returned just after the latest would tour and download, and I had also left around the time of the previous world tour. But that is not all; not only did I leave mere episodes away from a world tour, but I also left just before a system upgrade that brought with it enhanced video quality. I must say that I have enjoyed the new editing skills that you have developed over these last couple of years. Thank you very much for all the work you do. Etho Plays Minecraft has been with me through the worst times in my life, as well as some of the best, and despite having never thought I would ever need it again, you're still here to help me. I am grateful for that.

Hey Etho, been watching your videos for many years now and I wanted to throw some appreciation your way for helping us get through 2020 and entertaining us during these odd and stressful times. I started watching in middle school and now I’m in college! I don’t play much Minecraft anymore but it’s still enjoyable to tune in and see what’s new and what you’re up to. I guess you could say I came for the game and stayed for the personality! Anyways, I hope you’re doing well, and thanks again for sticking around for all these years. Hopefully there’s many more to come!

Just a quick thought on how to maybe connect the two buildings - if you built some sort of road that leads up to them both, you could decorate it with something like... uhm... let's say lampposts, which combine both of the buildings block palettes (or at least feature both of their main colors). That could be one way to create a transition. And the roof looks real nice by the way :)
