Thanks for a new video, Etho, much appreciated! Now a question: Are you planning to make a new modded series in the near future? I guess you reached the end of the TerraFirmaPunk, and if you do will you pick a existing mod pack or assemble your own? I guess the later would be more up your creek but could also be a lot more work to get the different mods to work together.

Hey Etho! What if you made a “natural” pond or spring in the empty corner of sandy city? It could provide reasoning for the lush greenery around the city and could serve as the reasoning of sandy city: a city that encompasses the only water source in the desert. Just an idea, keep up the amazing work :)

This is one of your best LP episodes yet, Etho. From the thorough examination of everything you learned about the growth of azalea trees, to the step by step tutorial on a very complicated farm that anyone could easily follow and recreate in their own world, and to the blatantly obvious and significant improvement in your building skills as you updated Sandy City, this episode was stellar. Re: the CotD I was incredibly disappointed with the response to your episode 551 particularly as we were coming off the high of your latest world tour. Seeing you so excited about a new huge project made me smile and I was looking forward to you continuing it. I loved the design of the building interior - it was an earlier example of your building skills improving greatly. So when you didn’t mention the project again, I figured you would never bring it up. It’s very cool of you to answer uncomfortable questions like that. Thank you.

That last empty space in sandy city should be for a town hall, a government building, a grand mayoral thing! That is the only missing piece of city infrastructure missing. You could really stretch those creative muscles of yours, designing something grand like a capitol building while fitting within the desert theme. Loved the episode as usual, I was expecting the episode to end after the farm was completed, I checked the playback and saw 41 minutes! Working on a farm at 5am, loading and unloading your world 20 times just to look for a possible issue in your redstone, the levels of detail you go into on and off camera in all of your build. Most sincerely Etho, your dedication and hard work is noticed, and appreciated by us all. For my attempt at Question of the Day, can you look at your channel's impact on the 1,000,000,000,000 Minecraft views on RU-vid? Xsuma did a video about the blog post, but maybe could you take us on an "Ethos favorite moments throughout the eras?" A little refresher for the newer members who might not know your history? Thought that might be a cool idea for the end of a video... :D

I love how clear Etho's thought process was in this episode. The original plan for this episode was clearly to work on sandy city, and he wanted to update the walls first. Turns out he didn't have enough oak wood to finish it so he started faming the azalea bushes for oak wood, and quickly realized he was a sucker. And now its 5.30 am (as seen at 22.08) and he is almost done making a farm to collect the wood to work on the wall which was meant to be a 'warm up' project to get the episode started but it turns out building the farm took up more than half of the episode. Then what was supposed to be the meat of the video (Fixing up the unfinished potion dispenser and building a new building in sandy city) was done off camera to save time. Oh man, Etho is the best, Never change!

i like how ethical casually reinvents standard tree farms in a let’s play episode. always so much attention to detail and explaining things simply. this is why i still watch etho 8 years later

One idea that keeps popping up for Sandy City is some kind of statue. At 35:56 there's a spot between the staircase and the tree on the right that I think might work. A Llama would probably be the most fitting, but you might have your own ideas. Great video Etho, you're awesome!

In my opinion, this was one of my favourite LP episodes in recent memory! It just made me feel so cosy and that I was going around sandy city with you, tinkering and making little adjustments on stuff! This is really one of the first times this week I’ve been fully 100% comfortable as I’m having a really really hard time with my mental health at the moment, so thank you Etho, from the bottom of my heart

I'm loving these deluxe-sized episodes. I hope he keeps making them this long.

Tomorrow I'll recreate your farm block by block, even down to the directional orientation. The direction often messes with cobble/stone generation, but I think resetting the water-lava streams by placing the sources one block further away and resetting them with a piston should fix the problems. I'll send you a tweet once I fix it, I'll give it a few tries. The reset countdown clock will be slower, but the farm will be 100% efficient. Also not using 0 ticks for moving stuff freaks my brain out so I'll send you a in depth design fix, making everything 0 tick, compacting it even further while keeping the directions of everything the same. I miss compacting your redstone, used to do it for every project you did. Even have a clock that's more precise with the timings in an old 1.13 world that still works. Also please some day take a look at my potion factory, it's 1 wide and 98% time efficient with the only hazzle being minecart chests for refueling the different droppers. You've inspired me to do redstone from the beginning. I worked with ilmango on the best mob farm in 1.8, you talking about compacting stuff made me able to invent newer and smaller circuits for most redstone circuits and I often used them for my own projects. I have even compacted your shulker refillers to such a small blue print. My redstone work never really took off, but you've been an amazing inspiration and you made me get into programming, which has shaped my uni education to focus on bioinformatics and wanting to make machine learning algorithms to invent new medicines. You are my number 1 inspiration for everything I've done since I started watching you on episode 38 of this series. I tried making a youtube channel to show off redstone stuff, but instead of trying to go further with that I became a behind the scenes helper for Ray's Works and ilmango on their projects. Idk if you ever heard of Beast and his smp, but I was big on creating their redstone projects. Once they made anything they sent it to me for me to compact it, I never leave a space of air in my projects. I explored 0 ticks and created decorative shulkers, where if you 0 tick push a glass block into them they can't fire bullets and can just be an aesthetic in ender themed builds or anything slightly magical. Green glass with shulkers would look amazing to just have dotted around your new lush cave, unless you hate their sound too much. Haven't tried to see if they work with the new dublication mechanics, but I'll give that a spin tomorrow too. One day I hope to get on a call with you and just talk about everything and anything, your interests, views and thoughts have shaped me to who I am today. And I'm forever greatful for that, even if it's just your RU-vid persona

If you want Sandy City to be an "Oasis" biome, you should put in some sort of water feature. It will give the city a reason to be "alive" and not "withering away" in the desert.

Etho, I've been an avid watcher of everything you posted for the last decade. I'm now in my mid 20s, and life has been extremely rough and I haven't watched an episode of yours in a while. Today after a long, long day I went to bed turned on youtube and just somehow remember your channel, went in and watched the last 2-3 videos and man, I can't begin to explain how important you are to me, from when I was a kid to now. In my toughest times, when my anxiety is enough to make me implode watching a video of yours gives me 30 or so minutes of inner peace, where none of my problems are real and the only important thing is how the llamas walk around Sandy City like that. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart thank you for all these years of helping me sleep, and helping me escape my troubles. This is by far my favorite Minecraft series. It's exciting and new because you always build new stuff with every update. But it's also very nostalgic because of the old world.

I love the idea of making the mancave’s underground into a Terraria-esque Jungle! It was cool to think about building things like the Plantera bulb in the 3D space of Minecraft. Speaking of which… is Terraria 1.4 going to be EZ??

I like how etho severely over-torched the cave because he's used to the previous light level requirement.

Etho, I've been a viewer for a long time and I absolutely loved your explanation of the tree farm. I don't even understand redstone, I never have, but I remember like ten years ago, watching you build your mob farms on Chocolate Island and being fascinated by the logic. I felt that fascination come back this episode, because your explanatory skills were just so great, even though I didn't fully understand the Redstone I was totally engaged. You're awesome at explaining and teaching, and what a great episode! Thank you for being you!

For the cobblestone problem: try putting the lava one block higher and adding a second piston above the first, a couple of ticks behind - give the water a little bit more time to flow

What an episode! Where do I even begin, Etho, you made so many amazing things! :) I'll start with the azalea farm- it's such an elegant technical masterpiece! The way you explained it made so much sense; I really like how you described the purpose of each part of the farm, and then the components and their functions, it was so easy to follow along how the contraption works! It does have quite a clean look to it, you did a great job compacting it! The ideas of the countdown timer and the staircase TNT dropper are next-level! The farm is amazing! The new building is awesome! The warm colour palette goes great with the azalea leaves, the stripe complements its shape, and the spruce details and roof are gorgeous! I think my favourite detail is the lounge by the walls for the guards to rest, I love it so, so much! It looks very relaxing, the colours make it feel extra inviting, the mixed sandstone types in the walls add a subtle layer of detail, the yellow stripe provides a bit of negative space AND a soft pop of colour, the mixed woods look super, the symmetry of the room and the asymmetry of the natural leaves are SO NICE, the little spruce arch in the entrance is a sweet little detail, the little window and the open door way makes it feel like a space to relax and despite it being a small space, feels airy, and also suits the theme of the desert village very well; and the scaffolding ceiling, WOW! That was such a great detail, it looks beautiful with the colours, fits the theme of the indoor/outdoor space, and adds to the airy but relaxing feel to the room! I love it, if I were a guard of Sandy City I'd enjoy siting there and unwinding when taking a break from my guard duties, it looks so peaceful!

When he said the undeground was like the jungle in terraria it immediately got the jungle theme stuck in my head. Perfect description of what it is like!

When I was building your moss farm from Hermitcraft, I often had a cobblestone coming out of a stone generator. Placing the lava one block higher and adding an extra piston helped me.

Hey Etho so I use a stone generator that makes the lava flow one extra block down before hitting the water and that never generates cobblestone. The disadvantage is its around half as slow as the generic stone generator design but the solution to that is to just use 2 of these safe stone generators to match the speed with complete safety. Hope that helps!

Sandy City is looking superb! Quick question though: How did you get the Llamas to follow the path like that? 😉 Side-note; something about the tree farm today was extremely nostalgic - It felt like I was back watching your original episodes again. Maybe it just reminded me of that super simple manual farm you set up on Chocolate Island. Oh how far Minecraft has come!

For the "blacksmith" in sandy city, maybe change to a "metal smith". Place copper, gold, and iron blocks in small piles along with the emeralds. Might look cool 😁

Yeah, I often don't REALLY understand how your contraptions work while watching the video -- no shortcoming of yours, you explain things very well, it's just that I learn better/faster when I build something myself because I don't do enough redstone to be intimately conversant with it, especially the more esoteric stuff. Of the ones I've seen this is my favourite azalea tree farm; compact and elegant. The thing I grokked right away was the TNT set-up -- man, that is brilliant, and while I usually don't bother with TNT (it's such a pain to get in peaceful mode), this time I will just because the setup is so awesome. I changed the lava for the stone generator to drop from double the height (which is half as fast) and I doubled it to keep up, so I don't need a special circuit. So far so good, no cobble. Thanks as always for the instructive episode, and I wish you Happy Holidays!

This was an absolute treat of an episode! I love the longer ones so much, because they have a bit of everything, but none of the things feel rushed. Some worldbuilding, some technical building and a redstone lesson, and some time spent building within a theme to top it off. This stands out as one of my favorite recent episodes for sure.

I absolutely love the idea of the terraria underground jungle in your world, makes a lot of sense and there's so much inspiration to go off of. I think the idea of a corrupted section could be really cool too!

Hey Etho! I just finished binge watching all your let's play videos! It took me 3 months and I loved every second! I get really inspired by all your creative ideas! Watching you execute these seemingly huge and impossible tasks and watching this world grow has truly been something special. There is one thing you've mentioned a few times that I hope you might tackle some day! Is a zoo for all the mobs something that still interests you? It probably wouldn't be a red stone intensive project, so I wasn't sure if there would be much of a challenge in it to keep you going. At this point, I think you've probably rangled and trapped almost every mob once already and I bet there are some you really won't want to do again. On the other hand, making a bunch of enclosures could be fun!! In any case, thank you for all the laughs and i look forward to your future plans!

When he said "desert park" I instantly thought sand pit, like those ones kids would play with in playgrounds. I know that deserts are all sand but I think it would be quite funny if there was just a cornered off section of sand in the village.

Hey Etho, just maybe a suggestion for the blacksmith, have you considered adding raw iron or copper to the blacksmith instead of the emerald blocks, I think that would work pretty well. Great video again and looking forward to the next one!

Really loved this episode. After watching the season finale of building with BDubs I really have an appreciation for the subtleties required to make a building feel complete, and you cranking out 3-4 minor buildings and a large house was really entertaining. Cool Azalea tree farm that has a fairly small footprint, is easy to follow & has a most ingenious TNT system 😊 It would be great to see some villagers or pacified pillagers roaming around Sandy City (which looks awesome btw) though, I guess over time they might just disappear due to glitches etc... Hey Etho, I have been messing around with moss farms since moss came out. I found the cobblestone thing so difficult too! From what i understand, it seems the lava has a *very small* chance to flow down, before the water flows side ways, meaning the water technically hits the lava and creates cobblestone - the best fix i found was surrounding where you want the stone with water sources, and pulling the stone down from below whens its generated, before pushing it across into the farm. This means the water has at least 3 sources it's coming from, and its very unlikely the lava will randomly tick down faster than one of those water sources can flow sideways.

I went ahead and calculated how much your views contributed to the 1,000,000,000,000 views, and your total channel views make up ~.084% of that number, which is quite a lot - relatively speaking. Thank you for being one of the main reasons that number got so high in the first place, and I hope that you will continue to push it to new heights (as long as you find enjoyment in doing so). Hey Etho, hearing your ideas about enhancing the underground seriously excites me, Terraria underground jungle (or maybe mushroom👀) is such a beautiful template to take inspiration from and I can’t wait to see what you do with it! An amethyst farm would also be an awesome technical thing that I would enjoy seeing. Love the upgrades on the Sandy City, seeing you give life to older projects is always a joy. You should be proud of that tree farm, I can tell you spent time polishing that design. Can’t wait to see what you do next!

That azalea farm looks really cool, the TNT stair trick is brilliant! (If only Bdubs knew about it when he built you that sugarcane farm on Hermitcraft...) It feels weird to see you building with brick so much, maybe it's just my old time player habits kicking in because brick used to be a rare material that didn't really go well with anything. Now, of course, it's easy to trade from villagers, and the block pallette has expanded significantly. It does look amazing! I also really enjoyed your Sandy City enhancement segment today. You're a great and innovative builder - I'd never think to use scaffolding as a roof block! I feel that many modern RU-vidrs tend to go for giant builds, castles and pyramids and towers that blow your mind with proportions. And that's certainly a valid way to build, but I myself quite enjoy the smaller builds that combine detail and functionality. You build a castle, you will probably just keep walking past it or flying around it with an Elytra; you build something like Sandy City, you can use a farm or restock your potions or go through a nether portal while you're there. I always enjoyed that aspect of your letsplay, it's been present since the very beginning, but while your technical skills have always been on point, your building abilities have certainly developed and changed as the game became more versatile with its blocks. As always, keep up the good work!

Hey Etho, love the azalea tree farm, cool way of making it work. Just wanted to mention that you can get path blocks under fence gates (not fences) by creating the path block first, and placing the fence gate against the side of an adjacent block (i.e. the pillar).
