HR Guru Dave Ulrich always asks what comes next when thinking about thought leadership topics. "Management by Walking Around" originated from Bill Hewlett and David Packard in the 1960s and 70s. It grew in popularity due to an acclaimed business book by Tom Peters and Robert Waterman, and eventually became "Management by Wandering Around." It's a strategy of wandering the office to gauge project development, determine workplace effectiveness, and make your employees feel heard for their ideas.
It has also become less viable over time, with a new trend taking its place.
